I've been working with HobbyKing since May (now 30th Nov) to resolve a fault with my Quanum Nova. Over this time I was sent replacement parts 3-4 times and each time I had to pay import charges. We were unable to resolve this issue and I was then asked to send it to the UK warehouse to be investigated, and again this was at my expense as I had to pay postage.
They agreed that the unit was faulty and dispatched a replacement. Unfortunately this was dispatched from Hong Kong and I soon received an invoice from DHL for £49 to release the package. As this unit was faulty and sent to the UK for repair I think its a complete joke that I would have to pay the import charge for a 2nd time.
I contacted HobbyKing multiple time and they refuse to help and say it is my responsibility to pay the charge even though I sent this to the UK to be repaired/replaced.
This unit has cost me £100-£150 extra in import charges in total and is only worth £160.
I have never felt the need to review a page before, but HK have really pushed me this time.
I'm a very unhappy HK platinum member
Hobby king has a fantastic range of stock at great prices. They sent great newsletters, but for usability their website is like something out of the dark ages.
- Continuous confusion between "warehouses" when you put more than one item in the Shopping cart.
- No easy way (button) to continue shopping after adding something to the cart (Their "Continue" means "Proceed to checkout").
- And then the horrid complex Paypal or Dollarpay that seems to want anything but to help you make a payment.
- Finally, if you are unsuccessful with the payment the shopping cart empties and you have to start all over.
Sack your developers HobbyKing.
This company is misleading customers when they say free post on a item. It's all a big scam as i found out the hard way. If you buy something which says free post be very careful if you add any other item which i did. It, s now not free post and you get stung for the full post amount which cost me £40. All i did was to add 1 very small connector which HK recommend you buy when purchasing this quadcopter. This is were they get you because this connector which they recommend is not free post you now don't qualify for free post any more.We are talking about a very small connector here which could have been placed in the box but HK was having non of it, when i mentioned this all they said was we can cancel the whole order for you. So i ask them well if you can cancel the whole order why can't you just cancel the connector as this is a reasonable request i thought, but you guessed it they said no, When purchasing any item from HK if it says free post don't add anything else to your order or you will lose your free post. This connector i added to my order cost me £40 so you have been warned.
This company has the worst customer service!
First I couldnt place my order because of some stupid problem with the system.
Next my order got delayed and after arguing for compensation, they offered a $5 store credit for a $254 order!
THEN my product was faulty.
They sent me a long stupid PDF on how I could get this replaced.
Getting a hold of the company is the worst. They only offer Live chat and no phone service. They couldnt hear my level of anger and it really bothered me.
I could never get ahold of the manager after trying 3 different times of the day.
They take for ever to response through this live chat.
Placed my first order with HobbyKing on Oct. 10,2015 and selected only items in stock in their USA East warehouse, hoping for a quick delivery. Checked out and payed $81.57 from my PayPal account. The order status changed to "Printed in Warehouse" after a day, so I though all was good.
After a week, my order status had not changed, so I contacted HobbyKing on Oct. 20,2015 to inquire the status. They told me that two of the items were back ordered. At this time, I asked them to cancel my order. They told me it would take seven business days before they would refund my PayPal payment. I thought that seven business days seems unreasonable.
Today, Oct. 30,2015, I contacted HobbyKing again to inquire on why they still had not refunded my PayPal payment. They checked and told me there was still no warehouse cancellation confirmation. They told me that they re-submitted the cancellation and that it would take another seven business days for my refund. My reply was, "If HobbyKing doesn't refund my payment today, I am going to open a dispute with PayPal". Their response was "We will respect that decision. However, once there is a warehouse confirmation to cancel the order, you have to close the dispute before we can cancel the order and process the refund."
Submitted a PayPal dispute today, Oct. 30,2015 and the dispute was resolved within three hours. I should have submitted the dispute ten days prior when they told me it will take seven business days for a refund.
HobbyKing has lost me as a customer over this horrible service. I will never buy from them and I will tell everyone I know about the horrible experience.
I ordered a plane that said it was in stock at all 3 warehouses i ordered from westcoast i then got an email saying that it wasnt in stock i didnt email back but had live chat with costumer service and was told there was a mixup and was "assured " (their exact words) that it will ship within 3 business days few days later i get an email saying that they havent heard from me what do i want to do get refund or wait till back in stock or bonus points so after several emails back and forth i got upset and asked for money back now i have to dispute with paypal to get money back because they stallin makin me wait to get money from my experince i would never use hobbyking again. Dont do it.
I have been a customer for long time and service is just getting worse and worse. Hong Kong based branch is the worst. I found out they always charged me doubled or tripled shipping fees. When I complained, I was told someone would get back to me but I was never approached by any one. Every time I tried to seek help, I got more outraged by robot-like customer service staff based in the Philippines that won't even understand what you are saying. Once I said to one of them "Shame on you" she said to me something like "Profanity is not allowed". Is "Shame on you" considered profanity? I decided to take my business else where and now I buy from China where things are cheaper and people always thrive to offer the best service.
Yes. It's cheap. Yes, if you're lucky and what you want is available in the UK you'll have you stuff within 48 hours. But... it's cheap for a reason. I've ordered 4 different motors from them, three were faulty. So was one of the two ESCs. Returns make no sense if postage is more expensive than the item itself. Tried posting a product review on their website only to learn that I made too few orders to be able to do so...
Bottom line is - avoid unless you're feeling lucky ;)
Still cannot understand bad reviews. This is my latest experience. I purchased a 1200mm Corsair shipped from the EU warehouse in their recent sale, price about £70. On building I discovered the motor was faulty and immediately submitted an RMA at the same time contacting the customer support via email.
They offered to replace the motor with one from stock but is was not an exact replacement. Having discovered that the original spare was available from a Chinese source l rejected the offered replacement and requested the correct spare. The response was to let me purchase direct from China and reimburse me in full including the shipping cost via the Hobbyking points system. All this was sorted out in four days. Naturally I will continue to be a well satisfied customer with now over 100 orders for planes and parts.
Have received the Yak 12 that Hobby King had on sale. Only problem is it came with a 4 channel receiver! With the Yak 12 advertised as having flaps which it did, it neds the 5th channel! Have started the process to have them ship. Me the corect part so will wait and see how that works out! Not impressed so far with the hassle to just fill out all the required info!
Received package with missing parts. I have been told for almost half a year that it's a mistake and replacement was sent. Finally they refused to send something and requested to send the package back with no VAT and delivery compensation. I had to escalate to PayPal regarding the issue.
Advice: Never use HonKong located company hobbyking!
I ordered an item and paid for a secure delivery, wich never arrived. In contrary of their policy: after two month the parcel is lost, we give you a refund, they dont want to proceed any arrangement. Their company is a scam. Never buy anymore to them.
Awful customer service. They caused me additional cost by supplying from Hongkong when I wanted to order from UK. Refused to compensate me and now one of the batteries has a bad cell AFTER the 30 day warranty so I have to buy another from scratch!
AVOID!
I believe all the good reviews are just lies, since i did several orders and it took at least a month for each one and they are charging high for shipment, also i got my plane with some problems, i tried their costumer service but it was catastrophic every time, since 6 months till now my plane is not fixed yet and never able to fly, avoid this site it doesn't worth it
Missing items and faulty parts, I opened a PayPal claim,
HK request me for close the payPal claim for solve the problems, I did it, my bad
I'm still waiting for the hobby king solution
Good price that all, very bad customer service and every time if you buy from them cross your finger9 Hope the order was correct)
Never Again!
I bought batteries from here. They never arrived. Hobbyking won't refund my money. They are extremely dishonest! Don't buy from them unless you want to be robbed.
I wanted to cancel an order because I no longer needed a flight controller for my multirotor. I was told it was already in 'printed status'. I was assured by chat that he would try to cancel the order. It's ten days later and I'm told my order is still in 'printed status'. I strongly recommend avoiding this potential headache. You can't call. You're at their mercy.
The return system is unbelievably bad. They had me front the cost of the return, learn to make out a RA form online. Now trying to get my postage returned I am offered a store credit and having to jump through all kinds of hoops. They should have issued a return label, (I do and I am small time), at their expense and immediately shipped the proper items. I was considering placing a significant order, now not so much.
Hobby King is a useless company. You can shop while you are lucky, but when it comes to issues (every 2nd order) - you'll see what they'll tell you! They do what they want, no rules.
You'll waste so much time - you'd better pay bit more, order better quality products and save your time.
The prices and hubby came are very good. Their representatives and their website have one thing in common, they are both terrible. Somebody needs to teach anybody at this company how to put up a website. The search engine on this website is incredibly awful. If you tried to use the search engine on this website boy do I feel sari for you. You cannot find any products using their search tool. And then if you contact one of their representatives over the live chat to try and find something all you will find misinformed, uneducated representatives. They will push to sell you something and when it shows up in is not what you wanted you will spend hours dealing with customer service trying to get your money back. You will get your money back, but it will take 3 weeks or longer. In the headaches and frustration you will encounter over those 3 weeks dealing with resubmission of the same forms over and over and over again it definitely is not worth the money you save. Sometimes it is just amazing the company can stay in business with the way they do business and how poorly they treat their customers and the absolute lack of respect they show their customers, will just amaze you. I guess when you are making enough money you do not have to show any respect to the people that are paying you and giving you their money. But I personally find it hard to have any compassion for somebody who looks down her nose at the people who give you their money in return for a service or product that you feel is beneath you to give the customers what they are paying for.
Answer: Hi. I live in the UK. I would never use hobbyking again. I never got my stuff took 3 months to get refund. Take your money and then they don't care
Answer: It all depends on the Bank that you. Plus check on why it took the refund. In fact, the refund is quick from an average of 3-4 days. Actually just given extra time for both the seller and the Bank. And accordingly, if the seller has constant operations on a refund, this has a negative impact on the company's rating for the Bank. Especially if there are disputes between buyer and seller. From my experience, the returns are realized in several ways: 1. On credit card 2. On account on the HobbyKing website. 3. Or product if not reached or was spoiled. Damaged goods was a couple of times, and some of the delivery services. Overall, the problems with the refund arose. Sorry for bad English.
Answer: Please contact us here https://support.hobbyking.com/hc/en-us/requests/new for the latest rates
Answer: In all honesty, I think it only means they got your money. That's all they seem to care about. I've been going round and round with them saying my order is complete when in fact they still owe me about 70% of the total order. They refuse to split the order and I'm tired of arguing with them. From some of the other reviews, it sounds like it's their method to start the clock early on the return policy. Regardless of whether you have actually received the item or not, the return policy starts when they say the order is complete.
Answer: PS Peter, I am assuming you mean the 1400mm EPO Flybaby? If it's the balsa 1350mm model I have no idea as I have not owned that model. Al
Answer: Hi Peter. Unfortunately I don't have the FlyBaby any more to check the battery bay I can however tell you I used ZIPPY Flightmax 3000mAh 4S1P 20C@ 139x46x25mm. A larger battery will fit but IMHO you will probably be better off with a 2200 to keep it as light as possible. Al
