I like the show. No, Ben and Erin are not Chip and Joanna, but they have their own style. I like Ben, (not the beard) and think he is really a good problem solver. I also really like the new show Flip or Flop Vegas. I love that the woman is a bargain hunter. I think her designs are much nicer than Tarik and Christina. They seem like real people and actually do the work themselves instead of have the crew do everything.
I've tried to watch Home Town numerous of times and it's boring. They don't seem Experienced and every design is Clutter and old fashion. This is Definitely a low budget HGTV sitcom with no humor attached to the entire sitcom! Please take this off your air and hire another couple!
I try not to miss any of their shows, looked for the next one and couldn't find it. Nice people, homes with lots of special touches created for normal people. Love this show.
I love the new show hometown., i love everything about it. I also wanted to say that I love Chip and Johanna Gaines and the twin brothers.,
Hometown is the real deal. My girlfriend and I have visited the town of Laurel Mississippi in person. The people are genuine, friendly and always eager to help. It was a town we felt very very welcome in. We found the truck that Ben drives around on the show parked next to the Mercantile in the downtown area. We went in and looked at the shop that the Napier's run and the staff there was extremely friendly. In fact they took pictures of us with the truck outside the store. We drove around the historic downtown area and actually found several of the homes that the Napier's have remodeled. They have done very tasteful work on these homes and they look beautiful. In fact, when we were looking at one of the houses that was remodeled and we were just sitting in our car looking at the house, the homeowner came out and saw us and waved at us. They truly are doing a service for the town and the new residents to come there to live. I do not agree with the really harsh reviews of this program. The people who make all these mean comments have obviously never been to the town. I feel sad for them. The show is truly unique. It's not a cookie-cutter show like some of the others that are on HGTV. Sure the Napier's are not Chip and Joanna Gaines. But if the TV viewing public would give them a chance and get to know them by how they interact with the people that they help remodel houses they may have a different opinion of them. As for Erin's artwork I think it's really nice and thoughtful for her to do these paintings and present them to the homeowners at the completion of the projects. That is truly something that you don't see on any other TV show. Ben and Erin are truly the real deal. So are the wonderful people of the town of Laurel Mississippi. We look forward to visiting there again and often.
They seem like nice enough people, and we really wanted to like the show, but the entire performance feels completely forced and boring. Erin and Ben don't have obvious chemistry. Her designs are just questionable at best and realistically, they are awful. It is hard to like them. It's really just not watchable TV and we could only watch two episodes before we decided the show just wasn't good. Would prefer HGTV to cut their losses here and seeing as there is almost no advertising for it anymore during promo spots anymore maybe the ratings are reflecting this.
I have tried to like the new show Hometown, but all I see is a couple with terrible acting skills, try to be Chip and Joanna. They fail miserably. All the woman does is stare at that sweaty husband and nothing either of them say is the slightest bit amusing. Her designs are just average. The way she constantly cups her hands is also annoying. Neither of them are attractive and a total bore to watch. There is absolutely no chemistry between them. Please go back to some of the old shows like Design on a Dime and Candace Olsen. She was my all time favorite designer, however, way to expensive for the average person to afford. I cannot stand to watch Love it or List it. Same story... Not enough money, will have to leave something off! And between her irritating accent and the chemistry and bickering I can't stand to watch anymore. Use to love Property Brothers but it's totally predictable too. Get something fresh and new, but please don't get rid of Fixer Upper!
I do not agree with the reviews I have read. I think they are good folks with a mission to save their town and help people. I love the restorations and the designs in the homes. Yes, maybe Erin does put a little too much junk and clutter into the houses, but that's not worthy of the critical reviews.
I can not stand watching Ben hang all over Erin, he is to big of a man that needs to stand up by himself. Erin does not have a personality I enjoy watching, took this show off my recordings. Sorry, this show has to go... time for HGTV to come up with a new idea for viewers.
They certainly are not saving a town. They are improving a town. That statement is very irritating. My husband is from Laurel and it is a beautiful town. Erin cannot talk, without using her hands. When Ben is with the guys, they are rednecks! Think they mean well and wish them success.
While attempting to copy Fiver Uppers, this couple fails in every respect. I feel that the tv shows that make a go of it, do something different instead of copying another shows format. Just not entertaining.
Her wardrobe is as bad as her decor choices... no talent... sorry but it has just annoyed me every time I've watched it... I love the concept but find someone with talent, PLEASE!
Ugh. I had such high hopes for this show. Sorry to say, it's gonna be really tough to find anyone to compete with Chip''s silly wit and humor, and Joanna''s beauty, grace, and stellar talent as a designer. Erin's, "I painted you a picture" (of what the house could look like) -- oooof. I cringe every time I accidentally tune in to this show. My 6 year old could do better, I think. And painted it? REALLY? With what? Your watercolor set from the dollar tree?
Amend while I'm venting... what is WITH her wardrobe? Specifically, why does she wear her shirts tucked in just to the front middle of her pants, with the sides hanging out? What the heck is that look about? I get it. It's trendy. For tweens, maybe. But almost every single episode? What the heck? Seriously? It's so annoying. Maybe it's a dresser for the show or something, because I once saw the female homeowner with her blouse tucked half into her crisp white shorts, the other half hanging free in the breeze. It looks ridiculous on anyone over 30.
Erin's designs are disappointing, to say the least.
Don't watch this show. It's annoying and irritating. I wanted to love it, but no. Just no.
Erin drove me nuts and he emblazoned his plaques on things he made. As the customer I wouldn't want that. Erin is not Joanna. They also are too affectionate to the point of staged. Her drawings are awful and her decorating skill is nil
I'm not crazy about the new Home Town. I miss Chip and Jo and all those adorable kids. Maybe play Home Town some other time? Like 10pm until 2am or something like that!
I hate home town. Worst show ever. Her drawings are awful. Take them off the air. I can not come up with anything good to say. I turn the channel when they are on!
Tried watching and is too dull and boring. They seemed too scripted and don't seem natural at all. Hardest part to watch is him hanging all over her ALL the time---can't he stand by himself? Not watching again---sorry.
Down home... and what a breath of fresh air. Erin and Ben are truly down home folks who love what they do and do it well. There is nothing pretentious about them. No showing off with ridiculous high jinks ( the one thing I had against Chip Gaines)
For the naysayers... most have probably never lived in the south or lived in a small town so ignore them.
Thank you HGTV for a new show that is a joy to watch.
Please HGTV keep enough episodes made ahead so we don't have to watch reruns constantly. That's a sure way to lose viewers.
Not chip and Joanna. Be is sweet but Erin is awful. Beyond annoying. Trying way to hard to be someone she is not.
Nothing new. The couple is annoying. No Chip and Joanne. Not even close. Good concept, wrong couple.
Answer: There are SO many commercials for Hometown ( more than 6 per hour), I won't be watching it because I am sick of the couple posing and posing. So many commercials mean something is wrong with the show. HELP PLEASE!
Answer: I agree! Landscapes, gardening... something that blends in vegetation to give a nice break from home remodels.
