I always complain about the cost of Gillette razors because I get maybe 5-6 good shaves with these razors before I start cutting my head and face in the process of shaving. So I decided to use Harry's razors and I doubled the number of shaves to 10-11 shaves per razor. I shave my head bald every 2-3 days and I'll never go back to Gillette razors. However, I don't use standard shaving cream. Instead, I use Shave Secret Oil for my shaves. Maybe this is why I haven't had a bad experience with Harry's razors based upon reading the other reviews stating the razors cut their face? Hands down a superior shaving product for men.
I searched for reviews on Harry's before I purchased and found glowing reviews on appeared to be shaving review sites so I purchased the largest pack of razors available as well as the starter kit. I liked the idea of getting something good from a company other than a major brand.
I was excited when they came in and was looking forward to getting good shaves while saving a little money from the major brand I had been using for years. Unfortunately I found my first shave rather rough. More akin to lightly dragging sand paper across my skin.
I recalled a couple decades ago when I tried a electric razor is suggested giving it a few weeks for the bear to adjust do the different shaving so I did. Went past the return period and found no improvement.
Since I went past the return period I kept using them since I am not one to waste money. I used all but 1 blade. That is 16 blades plus whatever came in the starter kit except one. When I went back to my major brand I was reminded what a smooth shave feels like and will be more careful before trying a different product again.
With how much longer the major brand delivers a smooth shave for me I think I save money with them.
Thinking back over the years the best comparison to shaving with Harry's would be a 2 blade disposable. Granted, Harry's is probably better but that is the best I can think of.
BTW, I would have given it 1 star but it does actually shave so it does meet the minimum expectations for such a product.
Hi David, that isn't the experience we'd like you to have with our products. We have heard from a lot of guys that it can take a few shaves to adjust to a new system, but it sounds like you have already done that. Thanks for giving us a shot, we'll be sure to pass along your feedback.
I tried these as an alternative to Gillette blades due to the attractive prices. They came in a box which seemed quite nice but not premium. The foam was not great but thought I'll give it a go. Within two strokes I got cut and was only going to get worse. A day later I thought to give it another go buy with my shaving gel. Again another case of being slashed across the face. Avoid these blades and use a safety razor or stick to a proper brand
Hi Jay, we're always looking for ways to improve, and I'm sorry to hear about your initial experience with our Blades and Gel. We’ve had some customers share similar feelings at first, only to tell us later that their shave drastically improved as they stuck with it. Sometimes it helps to experiment with the angle at which you're holding the blade and the amount of pressure you're using (too much or too little).
Of course, we completely understand that at the end of the day (or first thing in the morning, rather), you've got to pick the blade that's best for you. We appreciate you giving us a try! We will definitely share your feedback with our team.
The blade did the job, nothing great but acceptable considering the price compared to other blades. Now after a half dozen or so shaves the blade has gone completely dull. When the remaining blades fail I'll be going back to my old razor.
Hi Darrin, we're sorry to hear about your experience with our blades not being as sharp as expected. Our blades typically last 6-8 shaves per blade, although a lot of customers say they have lasted longer. It depends things like the thickness of your beard to how you care for them. We'll definitely pass your valuable feedback along to our team. Thanks for giving us a try!
I have been looking for for a Google review option but none exists, only one poled by the company which was probably biased since it gave them 88% approval. It is a bad razor, period. So dull it tugs on you. I gave it three passes an set it down. Kept on using my two week old Gillette Mach 3 and it worked perfect. It is also quite big, so I have no clue how you would shave the mustache area. When I bought the Harry's I signed up to the program, though I'd give the company a shot. I later came back and cancelled. I never heard back from them asking why. Little tid bit of info. If you are setting up a manufactured product and they cancel a refill subscription - reach out and ask why. You need ALL of the feedback in the world to make that product a perfect one. Don't just go out there and claim you have it. Have actual statistics for it.
Hi Daniel, we're sorry to hear about your initial shaving experience. We’ve had some guys share similar feelings at first, only to tell us later that their shave drastically improved as they stuck with it. Sometimes it just takes a little time to adjust to the differences in a new system: it often really helps to experiment with the angle at which you're holding the blade and the amount of pressure you're using (too much or too little). With that in mind, we'd love for you to give us a few more shaves.
As for the mustache area and those hard to reach areas, such as under your nose and the lines of your side burns, that's we added our Precision Trimmer. To use it, simply turn the razor around so that the 5 blades are facing away from you, and bring the trimmer (which is a single blade on top of the cartridge) up to your hair. You should notice as soon as the blade reaches your hair, and that's the sweet spot! Try out some different angles during your first few shaves to find which one works best for you. You can read more about how the Precision Trimmer can help you get those finishing touches here- http://bit.ly/2JmkM8n
We do follow up when a valued customer cancels a Shave Plan. We're sorry you had not been asked for that information, as we're always looking to improve. We're certainly appreciative of your feedback now.
Again, we'd appreciate it if you give us a few more tries. Of course, we understand that at the end of the day (or first thing in the morning, rather), you've got to pick the blade that's best for you.
Its been said here by many, dull blades, my face is a train wreck for using them had to stop and throw them away. Just awful, their trendy ads show up everywhere, they are good at that, the blades not worth a dime.
Thanks for giving us a try, Anthony. Sorry to hear about your experience with our blades. We’ll be sure to give your feedback to our product development team.
I tried Harry's a few years ago and loved them. Great razors and blades. The razor felt great in my hand and the blades were the best by far. But I have noticed that the quality has really slipped recently. I needed to get a new razor so I ordered one and found it far lighter and more cheaply made than my original Harry's razor. The blades often poo off while I'm shaving. And the blades only last a couple of shaves now. I used to get at least a week out of them. It makes me wonder if they sold the company to another corporation, or if they've lowered the quality to cut expenses. I recently forgot my razor while on a trip and picked up a Gillette at the market. It was so much better. Harry's used to be way better than Gillette. I miss the old Harry's.
Hi Steve, we're sorry to hear about your recent experience with our blades. We're always looking for ways to improve and I'll be sure to pass this along to our Product Development team. We still design and manufacture our blades at our own German factory and sell them directly to you. All of our blades go through the same quality control processes, as they always have. We want to assure you that nothing has changed with our blades. Please reach out to our customer experience team. They'll be happy to assist you further.
Worst razor ever! If you like nics and cuts on your face this is the razor for you. After it kills your face for the first 3 shaves it won't be effective at cutting hairs at all. I'm running back to Gillette pro glide arms wide open.
We're sorry to hear of your poor experience with our Blades, John. Any further details you can provide about your shaving technique and the circumstances around what happened would be really helpful. We completely understand that at the end of the day, you've got to pick the blade that's best for you. Thanks for giving our product a try.
I guess my beef is with your grandfather who obviously didn't get the creative engineering gene to invent Harry's razor in 1965. I'd have a prettier face after all those years of shaving with a Harry's razor - wonderful product. Just sad that I wont have a long time to use them before my 70 year old body develops some shaking syndrome and I have to go electric, Ugh!
And, your business plan is great for me, but you have a problem - these razors last forever. Thanks Jerry from Lewes, Delaware
We're thrilled to hear you're enjoying our Blades, Jerry! We'll keep working on that time machine, and circle back to you when we're done. We really appreciate your kind words.
Razor blades are super sharp and offer a great shave, but they rust VERY quickly. My blades need to be changed once every 2-3 shaves, and I dont leave my razor in the shower. I will discontinue and look at other brands. Its very disappointing to pick up a rusty razor when you are out of replacements.
We're sorry to hear about the rusting, Brianna. Sounds like you are keeping it out of the shower, and letting them dry. Please reach out to our customer experience team. They'll be happy to assist you further.
I've been using the razors for a while and just the other day after shaving one side of my face, I start on the left side and promptly shaved off a 1/2" square of skin. Not cool!
Thanks for sharing this with us, Jim. We're so sorry to hear about this experience with our blades. We'll definitely pass this feedback along to our product development team. Any further details you can provide about the circumstances around what happened would be really helpful. Please reach out to our customer experience team at your convenience.
So disgusted, rusted after three uses-seriously? My disposable BICs have a longer shelf life. Disappointed for sure!
We're so sorry to hear about the rusting. That shouldn't happen as long as you make sure to keep the blades dry between shaves. Our recommendation is to dry them off really well before storing them. Please contact our customer experience team. They'll be happy to assist you with this issue.
About the worst blade i ever tired. Amazed that people say they are great. Thin, poorly made and rough shave. OK my Gillette blades are far more expensive, but they glide on my face and cut well. You get what you pay for.
We're sorry to hear about your initial experience with our Blades. With that in mind, we'd love for you to give us another 4 to 5 shaves.
I previously posted my own review of Harry's razors and have read numerous other reviews... mostly negative. It's obvious to me that people really want to like and use your razors but just can't because of the poor quality of the blades. I keep seeing the same responses from your company... apologizing for the poor experiences. Why not get to work and MAKE YOUR BLADES BETTER? Just asking.
Thanks for giving our Blade a try, Ben. We understand that at the end of the day (or first thing in the morning, rather), you've got to pick the blade that's best for you.
Thought I might try them following multi solicitations via USPO. The web site is very vague about the fact that in purchasing the Promo you are agreeing to a repeat service & billing; slimy! I have a full beard and the branded blades last me a couple months, as I don't even trim daily. This kind of CON is getting popular these days. I might of tried them, somehow, until I read your reviews. Thanks for disclosing (via many bad reviews) these losers.
We’re sorry for any confusion, Craig. It is a Free Trial for our Shave Plan. We send you our product to try out. You give a our Blade a few shaves, and 17 days later you receive your 1st Shave Plan order of Blades.
During that Trial period you always to have the option to cancel if you do not care for the shaving experience it provides, or do not wish to receive our Blades via our subscription. They can always be purchased manually.
If it’s helpful, when you sign up, you are asked to Customize your Trial Set by choosing your Handle color. Next, our site asks you to Choose Your Ongoing refills, and tells you the date of that shipment.
Lastly, we ask you how often you Shave so we can base those reoccurring shipments on how often you Shave. At Checkout, just below our Place Order button, the reoccurring shipment order date and contents are shown for you to confirm before placing the order.
We hope you’ll reconsider giving our products a try. You can also find them at Walmart and Target, should you choose not to go through or site. Thanks!
Nice food. Manager not too wonderful. Reasonably priced. Slow service.not much variety of food. Very noisy
We sorry to hear of your recent dining experience, however we our Harry's razors. While our products are certainly not delicious, they do provide a good clean shave at an affordable price.
Purchased razor kit from Wal-Mart. I loved the colors the end cap display, I was hooked. I got home used once and litterly next day I showered and razor was rusted what a shame. I stored the razor from the first use in the case hung to dry..
We're so sorry to hear about the rusting. That definitely shouldn't be happening. Our customer experience team will be happy to assist you with this issue.
I bought a Harry's Razor at Walmart instead of getting razors like I intended on doing. That was a big mistake. The first couple of passes over my face burned real bad and it cut me up. It felt like I was using a dull razor. To me Harry's Razors are the worst blades out there. Even the cheapest Bic disposable razors does a better shave than Harry's even after using the same Bic blade three more times.
On top of giving a poor performance, Harry's Razors is cheaply made. The rubber handle is poorly made and looks like Harry 's like to cut corners. Yes its cheaper than Gillette but so is the Walmart brand Equate is better constructed and is cheaper than Harry's razors. Equate Razors competes with Gillette Razors and has the same structure as Gillette. But is cheaper.
Harry's Razors blades and the casing is cheaply made. And Harry's Commercials brag that their blades are German cut and made to go over the face smoothly, leaving the face feeling good. Well that was false! My face was burning on the first pass! After only doing one side of my face I gave up with it and got out my dull Gillette razor and shaved with that. Even though it was dull it shaved 10X better that Harry's razor and left my other side feeling a lot better than my right side.
I am very displeased with Harry's Razors and will tell all my friends not to buy the brand. I will recommend a dull Bic disposable razors over a brand new Harry's Razor any day!
We're so sorry to hear about your experience with our blades. As we're always looking for ways to improve, we’ll be sure to give your feedback to our product development team. Thanks for giving us a try.
First and foremost, you can see the grind lines on the razors edge, which with any good razor company these have to be mirrored edges to get a smooth shave. I haven't cut myself shaving in years, and today I used harry's thinking it's a name i recognize, but its absolute $#*! as i cut myself 5 times in the span of 5 minutes... Not surprised by the reviews at all, all that say its good are fake and this $#*! is not made in Germany...
Thanks so much for sharing this with us. We're always looking for ways to improve, and we're sorry to hear about your initial shaving experience. My razor blades rust after a few shaves - they are not in water but still happens. Very dangerous if you get a cut.
I'll see what customer service has to say.
We're so sorry to hear about the rusting! That shouldn't happen as long as you make sure to keep the blades dry between shaves. Our recommendation is to dry them off really well before storing them. That should help. Our customer experience team will be happy to assist you with this issue.
Answer: Great question, Tony! Blade lifespan will definitely vary a bit based on your particular hair type, shave schedule, and blade care habits. While there's no exact standard for how long a cartridge will last you, we find that the average person likes to replace blades every 6-8 shaves. The idea is that our blades are durable and will last a long time, at a great price.
Answer: The new blades are not as smooth as the old ones and you cannot buy the old ones anymore.
Answer: Absolutely! There are lots of women who use our razors so we'd definitely encourage you to give them a try.
Answer: I had a problem with that when I first got them and found out that I wasn't pusing them on the handle far enough. Also if you hold too close to the blade and choke up on the handle too much your fingers tend to push the blades off. When I held back further on the handles... no worries. Since I changed those two things, I don't have that problem.
Answer: Because when they changed the design of the blade by adding the trimmer, the blade lost its smooth shaving quality, life of the blade and no burn feeling. Now it burns after the shave, blade does not last that long and all you are left with is a cheap blade. If they bring back there 1st generation blades back, I will be the first one to buy them and give back my business to Harry's for LIFE!
