The guitar stand stained ruined the finishes on my Gibson guitars. Do not buy. I'll submit another review of how their customer service resolves this issue.
I am blown away by the quality craftsmanship that goes into these guitars. They are an amazing value and GF customer service is second to none. I'm a new fan!
I could not be happier with your products and customer service. My 14 year old son built his guitar and it's perfect.
Slick guitar was delivered in horrible condition. It cost $75 to fix neck issues best could be done. Then within 6 months the body on this guitar split!
Guitar Fetish said they would gladly replace if I ship back to them. The cost of shipping this is $100. This is stupid to spend another $100 on this Not So Fine Piece. Their policy of return within 30 days is unreasonable as it is obvious this type of defect would not reveal itself within 30 days, although this happened within 9 months!
1. Slick Gutars seem to be crap!
2. The US distributor will leave you with this crap!
Guitar Fetish flew my product to the nearest city in distribution I ordered on Friday and received my alnico v on Monday
Ordered a ash strat body unboxed it put the neck in the pocket went to put the plate an screws on an found the neck pocket was cut at an angle
So the strings will never be centered you can't uncut wood.
My first sign was there is no customer service phone number
RED FLAG I could pay shipping twice to return it but they didn't offer to
Exchange for the same body with a straight proper cut neck pocket just
Store credit. What good is that? If I don't have a body that works I don't need any other parts now would I! That's all you get ripped off
I hope you read this before you think about doing business there
Keep your money for a real parts place like stratosphere
I order a J style bass kit with a Paulownia body and a maple neck w/ "rosewood" fret board from these clowns and I can say I was thoroughly disappointed. After looking for months I was mislead by reviews from other companies into using guitar fetish which resulted in a poor and sloppy grain filler job, dent in the front with other dings all around the body, and that rosewood fret board was not normal rosewood it was reengineered rosewood which they don't mention anywhere but their competitors do. Basically don't buy from them unless you want to waste money on it so see how bad it really is and have to pay return shipping because they don't provide return shipping on their manure products.
The first neck I got had already been returned by another buyer. I figured that out when I got the replacement neck because it was double boxed. The first one had been crammed into a single box with bubble wrap. The first neck had a dent on the back. The replacement neck had frets that did not go all of the way across the fretboard. The low E string would have snagged on the fret ends if I had used it. I returned both and now Guitar Fetish has blocked me from accessing their site and buying anything. What a bunch of BS! The top of the line body I ordered had a neck pocket on which two of the three sides were milled to less than a 90-degree angle. I couldn't return it because I had already put hardware onto the body. I had to chisel the two bad sides to a 90-degree angle so it would accept the neck properly. If you want a nice build you should stay away from guitarfetish.com.
Purchased an XV-820 from them. Shipped and received in a timely manner, Surprised at the overall quality at this price range, Playable out of the box... low action. No fret buzz. Tuners could be better but work well enough. Frets are a tad bit sharp but aren't bad enough to cut you. I like the neck. Feels a little on the flat side. They were a little slow in responding to e-mails but they did respond. I would buy from them again if the mood struck me for another inexpensive guitar.
Bought a Slick SL54T and the frets were so badly damaged across the entire neck that the strings scratched and scraped up and down them when bending notes and vibrato as if the feet were made of sandpaper. Divots and indents on almost all the frets. Of course you can call these thieves you can only contact them through emails where some loser told me to take pictures of it if I wanted a refund. Worst customer service, worse than the guitars they sell. Any other instrument company would give you a refund if you are unhappy with your guitar, but these guys want you to prove there's something wrong with it to get a refund. And I'm afraid I probably wouldn't even get one if I sent it back. These guys are thieves and lowlife liars. I have a completely unplayable guitar for $250. Could have got a squire for 200 from Sweetwater with fantastic incredible customer service. Do not buy from these con men lowlifes.
I have bought 6 tele bodies, the 'better' XGP ones,
From this company, 5 of them had defects. I sent 2 back and they would not refund any shipping costs. Their website is full of hype that these are the best on the market, don't believe it! I have been working on guitars for 35 yrs. And they act like you are the problem. Don't waste you money on this junk. If you want an inexpensive guitar, buy a Epi or a Squire. I have done work for people who brought me the Xavier GFS guitars, total junk! Or if you must put together your own ax, go to AllParts. Top quality, more money, no lies or frustrations! GFS mostly appeals to Beavis Butthead types that think they can 'build' a guitar with a screwdriver and a soldering iron. Remember, cheap guitars are not good guitars, nothing to be proud of. Its better to save your money and buy one good high quality instrument that will inspire you to play instead of some Chinese junk that you with trade off next week. Don't be inticed by the cheap price, you get what you pay for! I know, and won't be fooled again!
Sold me a complete piece of junk body with dents all over it screw holes completely in the wrong place neck pocket broken and the wrong size, i could go on. They didn't offer me a refund! Customer service was appalling, I am not an angry person and I really don't complain for no reason, trust me avoid!
In my experience with building guitars from their bodies/necks, I believe the overall quality of the materials is fantastic and are as advertised. Are they perfect right out of the box? No. But no one should expect them to be at these prices. You want to know why a Squier is so much cheaper than a Mexican or US made Fender? It's mostly in the finishing work. This is how GFS sells these necks and bodies so cheap - because there is a little finishing work involved in most of what they sell. The necks often require nut work (nut height and slot depths) as well as a fret leveling/crowning/polishing. Some bodies might require some sanding or filing here and there to ensure proper neck or tremolo fitment. Most true builders don't care about those things, and see the imperfections as a means of being more involved in the build and taking more pride in completing it. If you want all the finishing work done for you and just want a plug and play product, pay the extra and go with Warmoth, Allparts, or genuine Fender products. If you don't mind getting your hands dirty and put a little elbow grease into it, you can build a seriously sweet guitar for under $300. My latest build was a blue paisley strat with PAF pickups and a 70's style rosewood block inlay neck, Schaller style locking tuners, brass trem block, and stainless string saddles. Not only does it look, play and sound awesome, it's a unique guitar that you'll never see in a store. Best part is that it only cost $250 to build. Only reason i gave 4 stars is that orders sometimes take a while to fulfill, and shipping takes forever to get to the northwest where I am. Other than that, i've been nothing but satisfied.
I order parts from here cause they are cheap! And for that reason is to learn how to make a cheap guitar that you can have fun and rock with. Eddie Van Halen. Tom Morello, and many more use guitars they built. This Website and Service is Awesome! Keep it up... sheep only complain.
Everything I have purchased, over the years, has been "as described" and delivered promptly. I see bad reviews, but my experience has been great!
Created a beautiful Offset guitar all from parts at Guitarfetish. Apart from initially sending me a neck that didn't fit and another one that still needed a little work to fit the neck pocket
And it was high gloss and not matte as I ordered I am happy with the build and have been using on stage regularly.
Slow to respond via email, only way to communicate. This body and neck are absolutely garbage. No matter what I have tried to get intonation and halfway decent action, it cannot be accomplished with this horrible instrument. Hate to even call it an instrument. Wish I had done my homework and read reviews. Won't ever purchase from them again. Anyone interested in buying a very nice looking piece of garbage?
Purchased a brass tremolo block. Mass was decent but poorly finished. Tremolo arm hole machined at an angle(not 90 degrees) and would not line up with trem plate. So pretty well useless except for hard tail application.
I sent pictures that clearly show their promise of fitting a Squier Stratocaster was inaccurate. Their remedy was for me to ship the item back for a refund and that the block was designed for a floating application only. That is clearly not in their description.
Could have purchased the same crap from China at a fraction of the cost.
Once burned, twice shy.
I had ordered two Strat pick guards, ordered from an American company thinking they would be a safe option for quality over products direct from China. Boy was that a mistake!
These pick guards were absolute garbage. Didn't even fit. The neck cut out was to small didn't fit the neck profile of the Stratocaster, cut out wasn't even straight, the pick up mounting holes were wrong and the finishing was so bad on the edges it was like someone chewed them out of a sheet of plastic.
Two dimensional routed piece of plastic, they've been making this guitar since the 50s, it shouldn't be that hard to get parts that fit.
I received the standard reply stating that there are many variations in Stratocasters and pick guards and I should expect to have to modify them... No this is not so, there are far less variations than people might expect, and basically any 11 hole pick guard off a
Recent Fender or Squier strat will interchange without having to employ a routing machine.
As on previous postings, it is clear these wrong parts have been supplied to customers for quite a while yet they still sell these parts. So they clearly don't care, and are knowingly selling you parts that don't fit, that are not as described, but are happy to keep taking your money.
As with a previous posting, I'm also an overseas client and have no simple option to return these parts, hence these guys didn't care one bit about my concerns.
Avoid the pain and frustration and shop elsewhere.
I was hoping to keep the previous review, see below. On a whim I decided to troubleshoot my gear and send them a reading with no expectations, just as information purposes. I have to say, COMPLETE turnaround on customer service. Apparently they changed some things, or the guy I had to deal with has moved on. Regardless, i was fortunate enough to receive immediate response from Forrest. Not only has he been professional, available, apologetic, knowledgeable, but without expecting anything, he gave me instructions on proper testing and i provided him readings and he acknowledged an equipment flaw and owned up to it and is making right on this. I just wanted to provide an update on this as I feel obligated, after the slam. I understand the equipment is not the best, but we do know what we are paying for and I hope this helps if anyone has faced the same issues, maybe you can give them another shot.
Well, I should just paste my correspondence with their return department, as it has been weeks of emails back and forth, however I'll keep it short. I received KP harness and pickups for a build for Christmas, After install on my pickguard it just wasn't the sound I expecting. I figured I would be able to exchange for store credit in accordance with their own policy. States within 60 days, returns if included with original packaging can be returned for store credit. Their were no scuffs scrapes or any thing as I explained, this was a KP system. They kept insisting that these were not in "new" condition and that I was not going to get a refund, they even said these were "thrown in a box, with wood screws", which was not as I had proof with pictures before I returned. These were all packaged in the KP boxes, and exactly how received, including the hardware. I asked several times to show me the policy that states this, and they ignored this and still have yet to explain. I even thought maybe they had the wrong package, as I was in disbelief. They would not respond to this, instead started responding about the return policy and even addressing restocking fee, that I did not even bring up. I finally decided to just have them send my items back and they wanted to charge me again to return these. I sent an email, that my next one would be to the BBB so They finally sent them back on their dime, but proceeded to scold me on this being a one time courtesy, and to follow the return policy. Regardless, I just received my package back and yeap, it's the same as I packed it to them. It's kind of a shame, as I've never had any issues and have been a long time customer. I know the quality, as I know how much I pay, so my only expectation has always been as long as it works. I never thought returning items, based on their own policy would be this difficult. I question the practice of such business and if i will continue to be an advocate to my friends and social media for this company. It's a shame because this would be a great company in my opinion, how they engineer pickups at that price point is a good deal. I will take my business elsewhere and tell as many people I know to stay away.
