I put in a blender acoustic preamp in my Epi hummingbird. First impression was not worth a damn. But after playing with it, I now have an awesome guitar. I used the original under saddle pickup, but the mic was way too hot even surrounded in foam. I installed an Olympus me52 noise cancelling mic. Wow! It is now awesome. It leads me to believe that GFS needs some better choices in mics as well as under saddle pickups.
I received a Guitar Fetish Tele Thinline body the other day and was surprised and very impressed with the quality, especially for $69. It was double boxed and inner box was bubble wrap, body was damage free and in beautiful condition. It was sanded smooth but of course before finishing it will be grain filled and sanded. There were some kerf marks from band saw on sides where saw turned around curves nothing that a bit of sanding won't remove. The pics are before any finishing work. I had read a lot of negative comments and reviews on line especially about customer service, not the case for me I sent an email about shipping date and was answered in a few hours. Body arrived in a few days. I have only ordered a roller bridge from them before so was apprehensive about what I would get but it is all good.
I bought a "blemished" paulownia tele body from their clearance section.
Their description said it had some nicks and sanding marks. That was true. But what they didn't say was the neck position route was cut wrong making it impossible to mount the neck on straight. It is out 1/16th of an inch. By the time the low E string hits the nut end of the bridge it's not on the neck! Maybe they knew it too? That's why it wasn't routed for a bridge and string hole mounts. No possible way to make it straight, it's firewood. The best part? I had a Slick SL 60 in my cart and the kids were going to buy it for me for Christmas! Not anymore!
Oh and one more thing. I own a house in Bradenton FL... going there in a few weeks maybe I'll stop by and say hello to them in Sarasota and return this piece of garbage to them rectally.
Sorry, but GFS Guitars are horrible! I received the SL 55 a while back. After replacing the nut, and having $$$$ spent on fret work, this guitar is still unplayable! The neck is twisted and the frets are super high... not to mention sharp ends and uneven tops. GFS always says, "compare these to..." enter a guitar brand. These aren't even on par with an Affinity Stratocaster. Please don't waste your money. I've tried three different models... they're all terrible!
Should give you a little guidance and make it clear that the products need to be finished. It wasn't clear that the products would not fit together and needed major adjustment to fit. Wood was good. Also they sent one of the bodies with no hole drilled for the input. That was terribly useless. Had to throw one away. Buyer beware!
I ordered this B-Stock item knowing full well what I was ordering and they delivered just what I had selected from their stock and in a very reasonable time. Yes there were things that needed to be corrected but I knew how to fix them and actually the guitar turned out to be a bit better than what I thought I would be getting. I've seen some of the less than flattering comments, and for me at least, know what you are ordering and I think you'll be satisfied with your purchase.
Well I took a shot in the dark I order a $35 Telecaster neck and we'll the base was cut too thick so I wound up with a Telecaster body with neck pocket cut too deep so perfect fit Well I got the neck bolted in and it was bowed out on the wrong direction anyway the neck has dual adjust action
I will say that it took a little while to get the guitar that I wanted to get in stock but, wow, it was worth it. I ordered the pro 510. I was thrilled when it got to me. Once in stock it shipped within a few days and arrived promptly. I am just learning to play but I took this guitar to a friend who is an extremely accomplished guitarist who plays in a successful band.(Not his first) He normally plays a Gibson LP that cost about 10x the amount of this guitar. I took it to him straight out of the box with no adjustments. He loved it. Even compared it favorably with his. Mentioned a few minor adjustments that it could use. Overall (again... straight out of the box) he loved it. Said he is thinking of ordering one for gigs at smaller venues "just in case" someone grabs his gear. In the end, I am very pleased with the purchase (with professional opinion to back me up).
Yea wow. Just wow. I got a Floyd Rose tremolo and a jazz bass with case. All exceeded my expectations For the price! Just wow!
Made a mistake in buying a trem from them with a steel block. Trem arm brok inside th blok, now $#*!.
Bought a Slick strap... can you say junk? Almost paper thin, I mean ridiculous thin. I didn't bother with a return I just trashed it. I wouldn't trust it to hold the weight of my p bass.
It's easy to summarize my experience with G F. Awful service + awful product = Stay away. I bought an acoustic as a Black Friday special and it was nothing but trouble. Warped top, crazy bad fret sprouts, bad action, badly wrinkled pick guard.
Company cant handle its order load but does take your money and makes you wait till they can ship without telling the customer about delays in their inability to move the orders they take. Contact cs and be told it will be shipped any day now and it doesn't happen.
I read all of the negative reviews on here and chuckle. Walmart has ruined people. Guitar Fetish accurately describes their parts, they give warnings about ensuring fitment, and provide detailed measurements.
I ordered a factory buyout 335 copy for $129 - black Friday discount. The guitar was just as described. I knew it needed the action, neck, and bridge adjusted. I knew it had dings and needed nut work. For the money, one would expect no less.
What I got was a very good project guitar. You couldn't buy a kit for less. The fret work was good and the hardware was decent, just like they said it was.
I emailed customer service twice and received answers within a day. What more do you want? They tell you they are small so be patient and they will get to you as soon as they can.
I think they are a good site. People expect everything to be perfect even when they order stuff that doesn't go together. I will order again from them, because I am not a spoon fed baby.
I purchased a tone wood acoustic and liked the guitar. Purchased another one and had a problem with the neck upon delivery. Tried to contact guitar fetish thru their customer service a few times but there has been no response. Saved me from buying 2 more electrics from them.
Ordered a pair of tele pickups. They delivered to the wrong address. Blamed it on my cookies in my computer. Any excuse. Even though I just bought a pickup 2 weeks earlier which was delivered to the correct address. They refuse to honor it. Or resend another set of pickups. Kind of sucks, since these are a basic guitar supplier. I have used them for several years for many of my basic guitar needs. Can't say I would recommend for your higher end needs. But to do this kind of sucks. A real supplier would cover this in a heart beat. But to be a cheap supplier. And to pull a BS move like this really sucks. It's probable pennies for them.
I bought a guitar and when it came it had a fret that was coming up. I asked for an exchange and sent pictures. They said there was nothing wrong. I returned it but had to pay $70 to do so. Horrible company
Unlike many guitars I have used, yours seemed to meet all the qualification I was looking for. Thanks.
I made orders from this site several times. The pickups are good for the price. But, at the last order, they sent pickups with paint damage and rust, I think they are used. Although, the description did not say anything about it and these are not pickups from GuitarFetish "aged" series. Support ignores my letters and has not responded for the two weeks.
All I did was ask was to pick me out a good one...& they did, sngl p90
In the bridge & out of the box, I coulnt be happier. Plays like butter & great tone... jackpot for & $200.
