The overall reputation of the company reflects significant customer dissatisfaction, particularly concerning its customer service and order fulfillment processes. Many customers report issues with delayed shipping, unresponsive support, and complications with returns, leading to frustration and a lack of trust. While there are occasional positive mentions of product quality and successful transactions, these are overshadowed by recurring complaints about misleading product descriptions and inadequate assistance from staff. The feedback indicates a pressing need for the company to enhance its customer service approach and improve communication to rebuild customer confidence.

I bought a Schecter bass "brand new", & the tech was suppose to set it up. The action is horrible, & the strings buzz, even when playing open strings. Today it started squealing high pitch sounds, just by being plugged in, without even playing the strings. When I change the 9v, it sounds like a short circuit from botched internal wiring. Their customer service is even worse. Save your money, & go somewhere reputable
They try and sell you USED gear as NEW. And once you catch them in the act, they blame it on their computer system. Didn't even offer me a discount after that, they only tried to then give me a new box. Never apologized! I'LL NEVER GO TO THEIR STORE AGIAN. IT WAS AS IF THEY DIDN'T EVEN CARE..
Called to see if they had the guitar that I'm interested in purchasing. Wanted to try out before I purchased. Called and put on hold. Hung up after 5 mins. Called back, same result. Will never consider spending my hard earned $'s there.
I was in the market for 2 Alto TS312 Powered Speakers.
First, it shows they inventory at store, got their but no they don't have it.
So sameday on Sunday I ordered online. Wednesday no tracking info. Called their customer service and "they have to reach out the store to see if they have inventory". No one were available. So I got fed up and canceled. The process I learned is just Stupid.
They don't warehouse is fine but the store doesn't update their inventory status.
This reflects on it's management for any company. They just do not seem to care anymore. When that fails, it's all over!
Guitar Center used to be the top dog for band and studio equipment. Now they're nothing but suck rip-off artists. Quick to sell you the priciest item in stock. But if it goes bad or breaks down within the 14-day return... they blow you off like hot bread. I've been ripped off several times. And it's taken complaints to the BBB and their HQ, to get any response and resolution. Pathetic.
Ordered online 5/17 - undelivered till today 5/27.
All the 'support' they can offer is that I wait ANOTHER TEN DAYS for UPS to investigate before they even consider a refund. It's like $76 is going to leave them bankrupt given they refuse to acknowledge an obviously lost package shipped via UPS.
I ordered a fairly expensive guitar in March and more than 60 days later the order status states "Processing". The item in in fact back-ordered and will likely be another 30 days or more, something I had to learn on my own. "Processing" as an order status is straight up BS. If an item is back-ordered, say so. I've been a Sweetwater customer, and my first purchase at Guitar Center. Already starting to regret.
I purchased a used Epiphone Sheraton II from Guitar Center's on line web site. I first called the store where it was located to see if it came with a case and to do a reality check on the condition. The salesman who answered the phone took my phone number, said he would check out the guitar and get back to me. Half an hour later, he called back and said the guitar comes with a case, it looks great. Plays great... the neck was a little out but he gave the truss rod a tweak and now it's great. I brought the guitar for fair market value at the time... about $550 plus tax and shipping. It played well enough but when I took it to my tech for a set up, he found that the truss rod was damaged beyond repair, loose, stripped and incapable to being "tweaked" in any fashion whatsoever. Unfortunately I found this out shortly after the 45 day return period. I called Guitar Center Customer Service to see if they would extend the 45 day return policy and let me return the guitar for store credit towards another used Sheraton II in light of the fraudulent misrepresentation made to me by their Sales Rep about the truss rod. They responded with a simple "NO". They didn't even offer to contact the store where the guitar came from to investigate my claim. They just didn't care. Unlike Guitar Center, I will NOT resell this guitar and take someone else's money knowing what that salesman knew when he sold the guitar to me. $550 for firewood. Thank you Guitar Center... you lost a long time customer.
Was told pedal was only scratches and dents, ends up it had a broken indicator LED (zoomed in now can see in the picture). When confronted they said it was probably in shipping, not knowing I saw it in the picture. They said I could return it... that is a 25 min one way drive to return.
You know how it's fun to go to places like music stores, gun shops, whatever your "thing" is and hang with fellow enthusiasts? Yeah, not so much at GC in Orem. I admit, I'm middle aged and have short hair and am a fit person. So apparently I don't meet their screening criteria. Walking in I got the stink eye from all the employees standing around doing nothing. I think there was one other customer in there. I waked straight to the drum section and started quietly testing out some hi hats. No one came within 30 feet. I was prepared to walk out with a full set of Zildjian HHX, including the hi hats. Plus I saw a great DW snare on sale for $500 that I might have taken too. Instead, I'll buy from Sweetwater and you can bet I won't be back at GC again.
There is a new scam site that is piggy backing off of the good name of guitarcenter.com (Guitar Center). Be aware that guitarcenters. Center is a scam site with outrageously good prices advertised. Make sure you use guitarcenter.com.

It seems like I just finished my last negative review and was honestly hoping to leave a positive one with the delivery of a new guitar due today. Well although I verified that my shipping address was correct in their system, in fact they just delivered another guitar here a few weeks ago. This time for some odd reason they shipped it to an address that I haven't lived in for the better part of a decade. Not only that, but I checked inventory at the two locations closest to me (within 5 miles of my house). It was in stock at both stores so I ordered it from one of them. This was the San Francisco Bay Area. But they shipped it from Kansas. What the heck? So I went down the customer service rabbit hole again. He finally said that ups would pick up and he would get back to me in a few days. A few days? I know it takes about 10 minutes to get ups to confirm a pickup. So yet once again their customer service was a total failure.
This Scott customer service guy in Modesto wouldn't even give us half our money back for a guitar we bought that was in perfect condition and unused. He also was a complete jerk. Rude and unprofessional. I will never go back there.
I ordered a Jackson guitar on the 6th of April, 2022. The guitar didn't ship out until the 11th for whatever reason even though it was in stock and it said it was being delivered the next day. The next day rolls around and it says it's "out for delivery" and I wait all day(I work from home) and no one showed up. I figured it would be delivered the next day. It didn't and each day it continued to say "out for delivery" and that someone "attempted to deliver" it at 10:41 PM each night. I called UPS and they told me that was weird since they don't even drive that late, let alone it being the same time every night. So eventually a few days passes of this mess and I go into the actual UPS center it's supposed to be at since I can't get anywhere with the guitar center people or UPS on the phone. They straight up tell me they do not have the guitar and they cannot find it in the warehouse or on any of the trucks. I told guitar center this and they opened a claim, and they told me if nothing was found by Monday, April 18th, they would refund me. Well, Monday rolls around and no one calls me or anything. So I jump on the chat with them and they tell me they cannot refund me until they look into it further, even though I went on UPS's website and put return to sender on the package so it can stop with the "out for deliver" infinite loop, so that was proof I didn't have the guitar nor was it going to be coming to me. I showed them the tracking and told them what the previous reps said and they wouldn't budge. So I finally went through my bank and filed a claim because this was getting ridiculous. Every guitar center rep would cut me off saying they understood, but would give me no information and would just say we're looking into it. It is now Friday, April 22nd, still no guitar, and finally got a refund THROUGH MY BANK. I will NEVER order through this company again. It's been an absolute nightmare. They lost my package, and there was proof in the tracking and they still wouldn't refund me. Worst customer service I've ever dealt with. My bank even said the whole process they put me through was very sketchy and they were shocked they hadn't refunded my money.
I came in to buy guitar picks and as I was leaving I decided to look at amps. The salesman came over and demo'd a Peavey that I loved... He asked what amp I had... A Line 6 Spyder 2q2... The salesman jumped on it and offered me the Peavey amp if I would bring in the Line 6 Spyder... They "WOULD BUY MY AMP FOR MORE THAN THE PEAVEY COST". Salesman said I would get the Peavey for. Free wiith the price they would give me for my Line 6... Next day I, with my hurt back loaded my huge amp up and hurried from Moxee all the way into town only to have the v::: vvnntSame salesman who told me to bring it in they'd buy it for sure tell me they couldn't now...: I am here to tell you, this amp is in perfect shape, A total WASTE IF MY TIME! WHY LIE.TO ME? WHY?
Guitar Center is the absolute worst…
Guitar Center is the absolute worst music supplier to deal with. Thru the years i've had issues with their selling techniques ie. Selling items they don't have in stock. Most recently I ordered a Ric 4003s bass on July 15,2021 a few days later sorry but your item is no longer in stock. I figured okay supply issues maybe 4-6 month wait. After initial wait i contacted them and was given a delivery date, 0f 2-2-22 needless to say that date passed as well and called again, new delivery date of 4-24-22.
I received a phone call March 29th telling me sorry but the item you ordered was no longer available because Rickenbacker had discontinued the 4003S would i like a different model., Being a bit suspicious I contacted Rickenbacker directly, as i thought GC lied.
I wasn't charged for the item but due to their practices GC can forget me as a customer. My GC gear card will be canceled as there are plenty of other music dealers around maybe more costly but worth the time and effort.
The messed my order up an sentcit to somebody else's address had to call the order back and did nothing in customer service to adjust for their failure delayed my items over 2 weeks no call back from a manager at all. Try to buy from someone else if you can!
The product is great but not guitar Center experience
I ordered a new $1500 acustic guitar from guitar center.com (had it shipped to my house) it came in exactly 5 business days, the receipt said it would email you when it was on the way... But I didn't get one, so be on the lookout for you guitar or equipment on the expected date. It was wrapped up in thick bubble rap; around a hard case, It was brand new just as I'd bought it. Very pleased. I'm sorry for everyone else's bad experiences but this gets a five star from me.
Any time I visit Guitar Center in person I am "helped" by negative grumpy reps that have no interest in quality customer service and seem like they don't want to be working. I tried to order a left handed guitar online for my nephew's 18th bday and it was back ordered. This is understandable, it is a left handed guitar, but after waiting six months with no updates, calling three times only to have been told "oh it will be shipped next month" every time, I'm through! Terrible experience. Terrible company.
Answer: I bought an amp from them 2 weeks ago. After 5 days of "Processing" I got an email saying that my purchase was cancelled. I called customer service and they told me that they no longer have the item in stock - why the heck would they put it up online if they don't have that item in stock? I checked the site again the next day and the amp is again available for sale. This company is run by a bunch of scam artists!

Answer: They suck altogether, online or mortar. I spent over $250 on studio equip during 2021. Most of it failing (including 2 mics) and they gave me nothing but bullshit pushback when returning for a refund, or replacing. BIG bunch of bankruptcy scammers.
Answer: I'm sorry to hear that, James. If you change your mind, feel free to email us anytime! We are here to help.
