Plastic

I wish Grove had more zero waste products. Way too much plastic. I now use Savon de Marseille soap to clean my entire house.

This is a unethical company that misleads customers and charges for subscriptions without notice while shopping online. Once they charge you it becomes a tough task to reach them and get to cancel the subscription and get refund. It took me several calls to get back my money. AVOID THIS COMPANY!

The products are good and the packaging and extras you can purchase are attractive. What I did not like was that the website is very confusing and designed to get you to purchase more products and end up on subscriptions that you have to go back and figure out how to cancel. Extra products were put in my basket, received email notices about "next shipments" and free shipping renewals because you are automatically signed up and have to prevent it. I will not shop here again.

The products are great, the peopple that I have dealt with have always been friendly but their shipping service is TERRIBLE. They ship from a warehouse about 6 hours away from me and now, for the third straight time it has been over 2 weeks since I was notified that the order had shipped and still no product. I am done with this company until they come to their senses regarding shipping. I would not recommend them under any circumstances!

Awful unethical company!

I had been a customer for almost 2 years and decided to cancel as I've been finding the same products in my local stores at a lower cost. Why would I wait to order online, paying a $20 yearly fee, when I can get them locally and cheaper. The problem is I had a credit available on my account - because of a broken candle the previous month. But apparently, I paid for the candle with a credit on my account (they said their policy is to give a credit not a refund). The credit came from a missing item the previous month. And that item got a credit because it was paid for by a missing credit the month previous to that... you get the picture. So I ask that the credit - you know MY MONEY be refund and they state they can only give me a credit for the broken candle (that was packaged poorly and could've caused a real problem with glass all over my box) and not MY MONEY back. They still refuse after going back and forth for a week. My next step is contacting the attorney general because this is fraud. Taking my money and not refunding when you don't deliver the items, or deliver broken items - then holding the money hostage because I don't want to order from you any longer. This wasn't the first glass item I purchased from them that broke (I never even complained about their glass bottle that is used for the cleaning concentrate that actually exploded in my kitchen) - I can't imagine how they're going to be plastic free when their glass is poorly made. I'm guessing I'm never going to see the money they refuse to refund but I'll be sure to spread the news of their unethical behavior.

Shady billing

I cancelled my subscription and deleted everything out of my cart. They added whatever they wanted back into my cart and billed me $43.00. I will never do business with them again.

Removing items from your subscription does not remove them from your cart if they have already populated for your next shipment.

I do not have a complaint of products or product value. Everything has been fine for almost 2 years except on Oct 6/20 during pandemic a Driver delivery my shipment and was not wearing a mask, and was touching his face and then touching the box. I had to leave shipment outside over night and decontaminate with Lysol. Also made me wonder about any other contact with the products in the shipping department.

Rip off

Grove is a scam! They add things to you cart that you do not order and then they leave items off you delivery and tell you you have to pay another $39 to get the items! Horrible company! Stay away from them!'

Beware of auto subscription! You think you're just ordering a few items and next thing you're being sent items you never wanted and being charged for them!

Beware!

Lack of resolution and customer responsiveness. Was actually told by the supervisor that I am not a valuable customer cause I complained about my first order and they are not interested these customers long term. Literally! All I asked was for a replacement for an item that came broken! Then I went to my account and they had wiped me clean- no account existed- that includes erasing my order history, and my VIP membership- which costs $20 all gone! What extortion and arrogance! Seems like if disagree and ask for something against their policy - like please replace the broken item- you get the "cancel culture" treatment. Move on,
There better more ethical companies out there.

Grove used to care about their Customers, but not anymore!
Just don't bother! They screwed up my shipping and then blamed UPS. Then they charged my the same price for a small Mrs Meyers candle as they did the large one, the item description didn't say anything about it being a small, I didn't know until I received it and they won't do anything about it!

I was charged over $100 for stuff I did not order. I was told I need to take it to UPS to return it. UPS is 45 min away from me one way. The CS rep to me it is only 26 min away from me but they have not driven these roads it is not 26 minutes, I live on them so I know. I do not like having my money charged without my knowledge and held for ransom for me to go over an hour during a pandemic to the town over from me in order to return something I did not order.
They told me since it was such a big order that they could do nothing unless I were to return it.
This order contained items I would never order and do not want or use.
Basically they can charge you for whatever they want call it a big order and wont refund you unless you go through loops to get your money back. They are scamming people.
I was told that them sending me a UPS label was all they could do for me the exact quote:
"We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. However, at this time, we have used all of our available resources to resolve this situation. Is there anything else I can help with today?"
This is the extent of their customer serivce. People should know this is how they treat customers before ordering. They will act like they can do whatever they want with your card.
Terrible customer service and policies. Dont trust this company.
The cutomer service rep (Lorrice) left after asking if there was anything else they could do.

After seeing an ad on facebook, we placed an order for several things, and ordered a little more than planned in order to take advantage of the deal offered, which was to get free products by ordering a certain dollar amount worth of other products. Well when we received the order, one of the products (a powder cleaner) exploded all over the rest of the order. The box of items was a mess. Additionally, a spray bottle of cleaner did not spray...(maybe clogged from the exploded powder?). I immediately called customer service, surely expecting them to make it right, particularly being new enthusiastic customers that thought we found a new company to love. The customer service person said that they could not ship out replacements because the shipment would be too small and not in line with their environmental philosophy. So they offered to give us credit for ONE of the ruined products to put TOWARDS OUR NEXT ORDER and would not do anything about the other ruined product because it was a free item that we got by placing the minimum order. What? First of all, what if I don't want to place another order? I just have to eat the cost of the product I lost? Secondly, the "free" item was because I purchased a certain amount, so I am entitled to get that product as well. Furthermore, my order was a complete mess; all products AND the floor had to be cleaned up. Why should I be out 2 of the items I was supposed to have? This was an unacceptable response and handling of the situation. I understand their ‘green' philosophy but when a mistake happens, do what you need to do to make it right to the customer and make that the priority over your otherwise noble environmental goals. The ruined items should have been replaced, INCLUDING the "free" item since I built my order up in order for my purchase to qualify for the free item. And this is all in addition to the fact that I had to spend some time cleaning up all of the other items (and the floor) from their mishap. I asked the customer service rep if a supervisor could please call me back so I could speak to someone else about a resolution and she said yes but no one ever contacted me. VERY unhappy with the Grove and their lack of customer respect. I will not be a future customer and will share my negative experience with others.

Buyer beware

Buyer beware! I have waited since December 2019 for my UT quilt Christmas present for my son after numerous follow up emails… I have still yet to receive the queen size quilt I will take down this post when I actually I actually receive it. I would give this a zero if that were an option or negative number horrible horrible service!

I will preface this by saying that I have had a good time with my first two orders from Grove. I had seen their ads on facebook and after multiple trips to the supermarket and big box stores, I have been unable to find basic cleaning products due to pandemic hoarding. Usually what is left is the ultra expensive organic options or the ultra cheap options that might as well be made of water. I've also wanted to be more in charge of my environmental footprint.

There is no such thing as a free lunch, so I did my due diligence and looked up other reviews and how the VIP service works before signing up for the free $30 Mrs. Myers kit with the caddy, dish soap, hand soap, and all purpose cleaner. The VIP auto ship service sends items on a recurring basis, and you can add or remove items, change ship frequency, and it also adds recommends items to your auto ship cart as well.

I think this is where Grove is upsetting people. I think $20 for a year of VIP (free shipping) is a good price, but why would I need a new bottle of toilet cleaner every single month, like it recommended? The same for a 45ct of laundry powder packs, I'd have to do 1.5 loads of laundry a day for a month to use an entire bag. The recommended auto-ship frequency needs to be lowered for many of the items, otherwise people are going to be upset that they are being sent these items so often and cancel their service. This either implies that the products aren't as good as typical store brands and you need to use more to get a similar effect, or that Grove is trying to sell you more than you need, which is a bad look for a company saying it wants to be sustainable.

Overall, the product selection is good, and they allow on-site reviews so help you decide if you want to get a product, but you need to be diligent and look through your subscription items and subscription frequency if Grove isn't going to tweak its system to recommend better auto ship frequencies.

I trid to check out but neither my email address nor CC# would register. Calling a representative he took me trough a process that I was afraid would give him access to my computer. It has happened before--I was scammed in a similar way. It should be easy enough to register customer information or make an order by phone. This person was asking me to press the "window" symbol and the letter R simultaneously, which led to a tab to enter a code he suggested, which prompted another window to fill in, which got to be too much of a stretch of my trust. It should be no problem to order by phone. Unfortunately he suggested I eat almonds to improve my stupid old lady brain... Sorry, I don't trust the remote computer-assisted process at all.

BEWARE

Total scam. I initially placed an order and got an email saying there was something wrong with my payment method. I re-entered my information. Soon after, I got a box that contained things I had never ever ordered. 2 days after that, I finally received the order that I had initially placed. I chatted with one of their reps, who said he would send me a UPS return label. Never received it. I emailed them and finally received a return label. What a giant waste of my time. I had to contact them twice so that I can return something I did not order in order to get my money back. Additionally, I have to make a trip to return something that I never ordered. Totally defeats the purpose of the "convenience" of ordering from Grove.

Once you give your payment info to this company, they're just gonna swipe it as though all the money belongs to them.

Started off great...
August 15, 2020

I started a membership with Grove a few years ago. I liked the selection of products and making my own delivery date. Once I realized they would send items unexpectedly, I was able to change it. That was my only real complaint. What has happened to them in the last six months, I don't know. A friend I had told about Grove received her first box and it was soaked from an open item. I told her it had never happened to me. It must have been an accident. A month later, a package arrived completely soaked. The items that usually came taped shut, had none. The paper used to keep items in place, gone. The free item I received was empty because it leaked in the box. It was as if someone opened the bottle and poured it into the box. When it was dropped off at my door, the box was caved in from the liquid. I called customer service and they gave the usual customer service responses from of "we are sorry" and "we don't usually have this happen". I asked for my free item to be sent to me. They said I had to wait for my next order. I wasn't happy with that, but, what else could I do. The free item was a limited edition Mrs. Meyer's item. The item was put in my cart. Before my item was shipped, it was removed and replaced with a different one. I assume they run out. Instead of holding on to it for me or telling me it was changed. I called customer service again and nothing happened. Sent them messages on Twitter and it was the same responses I see on here. They obviously don't care how and why they screw up. And certainly don't care to rectify or improve the situation. The only item I buy from them is a Grove product. Everything else I buy from local stores.

Shipping takes absurdly long ( be prepared to wait 2/3 weeks for your order to arrive) and Grove automatically subscribes you to products and sends them much faster than you would run through them. So you end up waiting ages for products you need and then receiving surprise shipments of things you already have. The allure of ‘lower prices' is a bit of a scam, you don't save much and the inconvenience of waiting is not worth the 50 cent discount on a $5.00 product.
