I cannot believe how many adverts I see for grammarly, which I don't want or need. I've read complaints from people from 2017. STOP

It sucks
May 27, 2020

Grammarly advertises as free but when you get there it asks for money and doesn't do any of the stuff it is supposed to!

Don't subscribe
May 27, 2020

They offered me a subscription for $49.95 last year. They don't send an email reminding the renewal and then, they raise the price in almost 200% this year. I attempted to cancel and their answer is that it was in contract. YOUR CONTRACT IS ONE-SIDED AND UNFAIR. I wish someone file a class action against this company.

The grammar logic of the application includes cliched misnomers of the kind only a non native speaker would place their trust in. Ending a sentence with a preposition is fine, or as Churchill once said when informed about the "rule", "That is a thing, up with which, I will not put". Tautology is a linguistic tool, not a fault. Sometimes we'll refer to a group of things as a plural, sometimes as a singular. For example, "The sheep were standing", or "the group was together". Another correction "The group were standing", while technically correct, and only dependent on what one is trying to say, and I'll feel like tearing somebody's hair out. Passive voice is fine, not a fault. Sentences need not be so simple that they become, very nearly, monosyllabic. If your English is very simple or you're trying to communicate in a language you don't speak very well this may be a useful application. If you write in English often then it is a handicap. When raised with support I was given the usual drivel fob off "The settings are incorrect". By settings they mean the presets used to try to anticipate the style of writing. I was left with the sense that the only thing they were any good at was taking your money.

They refused to refund me when I made a mistake with my transaction. I intended to buy it at the sale price. Lo and behold, they literally offer another sale a week after. I basically got scammed. Imagine a company advertising a sale and you buy it two days later thinking it was still on sale, and then they tell you to take a hike when you want a refund and to repurchase when it goes on sale. Interestingly enough, I get promotional emails saying it is now even MORE on sale than before, within the next two weeks. Bad customer service.

Perfect
May 20, 2020

Grammarly has always helped me with my writing for school. The usual spell check isn't as good on Google docs, so I switched to Grammarly. Grammarly is my most favorite spell check program ever. Even without Premium, it is still very good in helping you correct your writing. It is fast and efficient, and also very easy to use!

I think Grammarly is good at correcting spelling mistakes, but WHAT THE HECK! Everything GOOD is PREMIUM! When I saw the ad for like the 100th time, I finally got it. At first, I thought it was impressive. But now I pretty much HATE it. Right now, I'm trying to write a book. I wrote: All kids are special in their own way. They said that creates a "tautology". Why would I say "All kids are special in their way?" That doesn't sound right! And EVERY SINGLE GOOD PART IS PREMIUM! I need an app that is reliable, not full of scams! Plus, you can just use the online Ofice 365 and it's better than THIS. I just wish it was A LOT better than it is.

Do NOT Get
May 11, 2020

Grammarly is an overrated place of scams. The ads are 100% FALSE, and they don't even give correct suggestions. If you want to have your writing checked, PLEASE find another place because this was a waste of my money and time.

Save your money. This is an overprice over hyped product. For less money you can buy Office 365. It wastes time. MS Word's new Editor feature is better. I write long technical reports. Grammarly keeps repeating the same issues (incorrectly) over and over.

Don't trust them
April 29, 2020

They are cutting monthly payment from your bank account even if you used their service for one time only. They didn't reply to the refund requests.

I contacted them for a refund but they are ignoring the requests.

Don't trust them.

Not what I expected
April 30, 2020

I first tried the free Grammarly, which was mostly dealing with punctuation. SO, I paid for the Premium Grammarly thinking I would get a lot of good help It was a waste of my money and my time. There was some help with punctuation and some suggestions were incorrect. As well, they suggest changing words which should not be change... for instance, when I was writing about a grill on a car, Grammarly wanted me to change grill to Restaurant. That was just one of many ridiculous suggestions I got over a plus 300 page document. I wish Grammarly could have been worth the money, but based on my experience, it is not. Maybe if you are just writing a short report, you will not see the problems that I experienced. It just goes to show you that computer generated help is not the same as a live person.

Don't be fooled
April 25, 2020

Grammarly does not help with syntax nor sentence structure. I expected it to change my writing, improve it and provide the correct grammar if anything was out of place. It never did. I only used it twice. It provided some suggestions on the side margin that never made sense. Punctuation was not checked and misspelled words never caught. They will take money out of your credit card account without notice. Go to your bank immediately, report your credit card compromised and obtain a new one. This company is a scam.

Dont bother
April 24, 2020

The only thing that the free version does is spelling and punctuation check. But little does Grammarly know, almost computers already have that built into it. I typed the exact same text filled with errors on two different documents and used Grammarly for one and the google docs spell check for the other. When I finished, the two documents were identical. And if you want it to do more than that, you can pay 30 bucks a month to get a bunch of options that you really don't need anyway. Don't waste your money, don't waste your time. Delete Grammarly.

Downloaded grammarly, hated it, removed it, went back onto the google doc I was using it on and it turned out that there were like a million mistakes that the spelling/grammar check on the google doc itself caught that grammarly missed. If I had kept grammarly I would have missed those grammar mistakes. Isn't grammarly's whole purpose to catch grammar mistakes? I really dodged a bullet there. Grammarly sucks at it's main purpose. I urge you to remove it before you turn something in that is riddled with grammar mistakes that Grammarly was to stuck up to catch.

Sincerely,
Hater Of Grammarly

P.s.: if u actually care about your grades, grammar, and spelling, you should definitely remove grammarly.

RUINED
April 9, 2020

I started using grammarly for a school paper. I clicked for it to do the corrections, but on docs it did nothing. I left to get a virtual lesson, a few hours later I came back to see my teacher left like 15 comments. I look through my paper and see all the sentences I let it correct were mixed up throughout the paper. Plus it added random punctuation and letters to my paper. So now my teacher is mad at me because I said I would try harder and now I have to explain to her how a website trusted by millions ruined my paper.

SCAM
April 2, 2020

They do a free "plagiarism" check on your work and report a bunch of instances of plagiarism. Then they say you have to upgrade to "Premium" if you want to see what it was. I paid the $25 and it was all false positives. These people are worse than spammers and pornographers.

LIES
March 25, 2020

Grammarly told me that I had significant plagiarism in my paper, but would not let me see it unless I set up a payment plan. When I went to a different plagiarism checker, it told me that my paper was 100% unique. Why do you have to lie to us to get us to buy your services. That is so messed up. I do not like Grammarly anymore, and at all cost avoid it, because I do not know anymore if they are telling me the truth about my writing or not.
