Tired using a different "free" tax filing service earlier today. Got all the way through the "free" returns only to be charged at the very end. Did not process the returns. If there was going to be a charge that should have been explained upfront.
Then used FreeTaxUSA and it was actually free. The website was very easy to use, the instructions were clear and understandable. There were messages to help the process along. Very easy to use and will use this serice again in the future.
Used this company past 2 years. Never received 2020 refund and now my 2021 refund is missing. The IRS site says my refund was deposited on March 9th. Cannot get any answers from Free Tax or get thru to Irs of course. Could not need this $ more. I am permanently disabled and in process of getting a divorce. I do not recommend using them

This software is approved through the IRS website so I assume it is safe to use. The program itself is great and I've used it for years. Last year after I filed my taxes I had a notification from my employer that someone was trying to file for unemployment using my information. I went through all the motions to file fraud everywhere, my worst nightmare, how did my personal work information and social security number get in the hands of a thief? Now I am filing my taxes again this year and guess what! Someone has already filed their taxes using my sons ss#! Wow fraud again!? How could this be happening to me again? Well the trail of bread crumbs leads back to FreeTaxUSA! They have all my personal information especially my sons ss#! This is the only logical explanation for this nightmare! So thank you TaxHawk Inc. and FreeTaxUSA you have severely messed up my life and now my sons. This is criminal and I will be filing a tax fraud claim against your company. Customer #**************.

While the customer service representative was helpful, he is not responsible for the program. The representative agreed with me that a calculation for nj income tax was not done correctly ( software, programming issues).

We used this income tax lady and this is the site that she used. Because I keep on asking her what's going on our 2020 income tax return that we still have not received, she called me today being rude and calling herself a Christian that she supposed to mean something to me and told me that she will never works with me anyone and hang the phone up on me. Ms. K is very rude and unprofessional but to her I am the unprofessional. This lady called me and was yelling at me because of me asking questions smh

Our software is able to be used by individuals as well as paid tax preparers, however, we do not hire the paid preparers and they are not affiliated with our company. I tried filing 2020 taxes with these guys and paid 17.98 just for them to inform me that I can't efile a year later and this must be done through mail. I haven't been refunded my money. They made me put my credit card information in before informing me. Basically stole $17.

I've used FreeTaxUSA several times to do my taxes, and have always been quite satisfied with the results. The interface is pretty straightforward and easy to navigate. And even if you decide not to pay the $15 to file your state taxes, the program still tells you the amount you owe the state or vice versa.
Overall, I find the experience simple and effective, and would recommend this site to others.

Freaking ridiculous bs. I've used them in the past but apparently they've sunk ship, and I'm going someplace else. Got all the way through to my W2's, and the page wouldn't allow me to progress, insisting on me entering my personal data again EVERY TIME. Chat isn't available unless you PAY a premium monthly. Screw the F out of that. BYE

Sam does not respond 15 days since The state released my state taxes and I still have nothing in my bank account still no response times 10 messages to each TPG bank and free tax USA horrible absolutely horrible horrible service I even sent them proof and that was not good enough from the state

I admittedly had a rather easy tax return, but they are as good as the more expensive services and don't hit you with a fee after you've entered all of your tax information.

After you spend all the time filing it out you can't save it and go back to it because it clears out everything - start from fresh! Then after your done and pay for it $17.99 for the FREE state tax and want to file it won't let you e-file you have to print it out and file by mail! What bullS*** if they would have said it right away or before I paid I would have never used them, of course it says right on there filing by mail adds 6 weeks to the refund. Worst tax site ever used for sure! Did not get the notice until I tried to file it at the finish!

I love freetax usa! I am self employeed and claim several write offs. Ive used this service the last 3 years in a row and its veen easy every single time. It walks me thru and asks every question you can think of and helps me get the biggest refund that i can get. If you do something that doesn't look correct they will alert you. I really love this service and the irs has accepted my return within hours each year. Its simple and free. I recommend it to all of my friends and my family.

I have received my state but they purposely changed there accounting and routing # over *******$ gone that they stole don't not use there a scam
Hi Brent, we are happy to help with this! If you selected the option to pay for your order using your refund, a temporary bank account was printed on your tax forms. Your refund will be sent to the temporary account, the fees withdrawn, and the rest deposited into your bank account.

I ve used freetaxusa to file my taxes for years with no problems until this year. I decided to use their service for my state taxes. I opted to have them take their fee, which they advertise as $14, but it's actually $35 out of my returns. I didn't know that it meant my refund would go to them for them to deduct their fees first. My refund went sent to them, but they never credited my account with the money. Not a dime. They don't have any customer service number to call, so I have been sending out emails. They keep sending the response of looking into it.
Please don't use them if you want your refund.

When added to the state preparation fee of $14.99, you get the total fee of $34.99 that was deducted from your state refund. In some cases, this process can take up to 5 business days. I live in DE, I had two jobs in PA for 2021. One of which only 2 months of the year. Jan and February, the other position split into two segments. Hiring agency used to represent permanent employer from April til october 25th. Then permanent employer. Til the rest of the 2021 year. Received w2's (yes, two from permanent employer because again, I live in DE so taxes taken out there as well as in PA with their office in Crum Lynne PA) in addition to the hiring agency taking taxes out for my residence. Walked through the entire process inputting a lot of time and effort along side with chat viewing my screens. Submit and find that all three - federal, state of PA and state of DE filings rejected. Now told I need to snail mail my return in. There is no help. I get the brush off saying that they cannot infiltrate the IRS software. I"m disgusted. I paid nearly $50 for services. Yeah free for the Federal filing but charges for state filing and assurance with deluxe. And still get told it's out of their hands. I'm thinking of calling my cc company and filing a charge back. Seriously. I need help and nobody not even deluxe payment level personnel is helping me.

I looked into this site as an alternative to H&R Block, since they charge high prices. At first it looked promising. Filling in information was easy, and it provided helpful information about what info you may need and helped me find a missing form. But before finishing I felt that the calculations may be off and could skew the end result. I decided to delete my account. I search everywhere until checking the support section. It states in the support answers YOU CANNOT DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT AND SENSITIVE DATA! This would seem to be a severe lack of security if we can't remove our own data. Be aware once you create an account and start to enter data, you can't remove it.

We are not allowed to delete accounts, however, you as a customer are allowed to go through the software and delete information. Answer: Hi Janet, sorry for any confusion. The $12.95 fee is for state tax return preparation whether the tax return is e-filed or printed and mailed. In regard to your difficulty paying. When you make a debit or credit card purchase online, the card processor checks with your bank or credit card issuer to first make sure you have enough available credit to complete the purchase. The card processor then makes sure the other information you input (for instance, your address) matches what your bank has on record. If all is well, the transaction is processed. If not, such as an address that doesnt match, then the transaction is declined. If you were having difficulty with each card, I would recommend double checking the billing information you entered on FreeTaxUSA. If thats all correct, I would contact your bank and make sure the information they have on file is up-to-date. If youre ever having trouble while using our site, you can click on the Contact Support link or email our customer support team at [email protected] and a support team member will be happy to assist you.

If you have not submitted your taxes and need to make changes, you can use the tabs near the top of the screen (Personal, Income, Deductions/Credits, etc.) to navigate to the area you want to make changes.
