Major Fraud! Where is FCC to stop this?
July 3, 2019

I have been charged $20 for "top off" that I have not authorized. I can not cancel it and I can not reach any person to talk to. I can not even send an email to cancel and refund request. I will have to open a dispute with my credit card company.

I cannot give them zero stars?
June 27, 2019

Freedom Pop commits fraud on a regular basis. I am reporting them to the NYS attorney general for using credit card information that the company does not even have permission to keep on file but they have used. They refuse to refund the so called "top off fee" that they were NEVER EVER authorized to charge in the first place. And charging $6.95 per month to prevent charging $20 is also not even legal.

Not even worth the one star
May 31, 2019

Not even worth the one star. Charged my account multiple times, 20 dollars each, all unauthorized. They call it "top off", which has a fake option to disable, in lieu of a forced 6.99 a month subscription they call safe mode. If you don't pay 6.99 a month, they charge your account, and you never know when. Sometimes it could be when you don't have enough and could overdraft your account. Even worse, there's no customer support or billing department to talk to real people over the phone to dispute unauthorized charges. A proper scam, if I ever saw one. A bunch of thieves. For shame. A message to the founders of this poor excuse of a company: There's more to life than money. Don't dirty yourselves over it.

This is a JOKE
May 19, 2019

I signed up for FP without reading any reviews... BIG MISTAKE! After getting the "congratulations" email, with no ID or account number anywhere on that page, I tried to contact FP for information. There is NO CUSTOMER SERVICE on line, nor by phone. The menu tree just goes from page to page, and back to the beginning. I did find a phone number for signing up for new service (SIM Card), but they would not help me at all as they said that they were "sales" only, and not able to assist in any way with my account. Since I do not have an account number, I can not access any details about my account; they do have a "reset" page where you can request a new PIN... they will send to your email a temporary ID; I have done that 3 times, but nothing ever arrives in the email. FINALLY, with all the above, and several hours of frustration, it was easier for me to move away, and to dispute this initial $0.01 charge on my credit card, and let the CC people cover my back. So I have eliminated this FP for my personal phone service provider, and have gone with a professional, first class provider, and have no issues like this. All I can say about FP and customer service, is that there is NO CUSTOMER SERVICE of any kind. It is all just for the $$, and charge to your CC on an automatic basis. I will add to this review if I have any other issues with FP and the CC charges in the future.

Pooped
May 3, 2019

Yeah you get what you pay for. I had it because I used my work landline for all of my personal and business calls and only really needed it for the random evening call or weekend call. For a couple of years their VOIP mostly worked. HOWEVER, over time their product(s) have considerably worsened instead of improving if that is even possible. For example, their VM app used to work fine. Someone called, left a VM and you listened to it. Then they "upgraded" to junk called Visual Voicemail. And this alleged improvement would not let you actually listen to the voicemail-instead it is "transcribed" to a horrible translation of what the person said-with very little transcribed making any sense whatsoever. And thus it didn't work and yet they charged an add on fee for something that didn't work. Additionally their data usage tracking was utterly random-there were time that I would turn on my phone for 5 mins. And turn it off and use up 50 mbs of data magically. Other times I would leave my phone on all day and use 10 mbs of data. And I was only using this service for calls, texts and VM-no other apps. And early on when I had the service the first couple of years 5 years ago, they actually had non-horrible phone support. Then that went away like the regular VM. So for every question you would have to submit a ticket to be answered within 48 hrs. According to their site-but often it would take a week to get even a response. And finally, yes there are all kinds of add on fees and taxes that are charged without your consent. Over the last year or so things go so bad I couldn't take it anymore and decided that even with access to my work landline I would ditch them and their balky phone and frankly going with Cricket for a flat $30/mo all inclusive on the ATT network is worth it to avoid all of the Freedom Poop hassles and idiocy and insanity.

Absolutely Terrible
April 22, 2019

Absolutely terrible! This company is practically a scam. The plans cost so much considering how little data they offer. They automatically charge you to op off the credit in the account and if you want to opt out they charge you $6.99 a month, FOR WHAT? The service is really bad so I dont even understand what they are offering as I can barely connect or stream. I am so disappointed ANY of my money went towards this scam company. I really wouldn't even risk it with them if I were you.

It's a scam to get your credit card
April 13, 2019

Whatever you do, DON'T fall for this scam. You'll never get a free account and you'll discover unexpected charges on your account frequently. The customer service is AWFUL. I can't decide whether they don't understand enough English to do their jobs or they are trained to be as unhelpful and obstinate as possible. Don't fall into their trap. Not convinced? Go to "Victims of FreedomPop" on Facebook.

I have been a customer for two years now and have been ignoring several issues. Now I have to start talking to the public. At the end of March, my credit card was expiring and so I updated with a new card from a major bank. After several "errors" the card was accepted and the hold charges showed up on my card account. The next day a charge for my monthly billing showed up on my credit card account but when I logged in to my FP account it showed that my account was suspended due to failed credit card. I had 8.54GB of rolled data the day before my billing cycle ended. I opened a ticket and the account was reinstated but my rolled data was zeroed out. I complained but got the run around until I opened a complaint with the BBB. I saw that the Feb-Mar monthly data allocation did not get added and it took two weeks for Customer Service to admit that their system failed and lost last months data allocation. They then added that it would NOT be added to my balance and they close the ticket. I think they can bamboozle the Better Business Bureau.

I think they will do this again by claiming my credit card is a debit card or a prepaid card. I too have seen extra charges on my card which were already in the main bill. Last year I went without my (paid for) premium voicemail service because they kept jerking me around saying I need to uninstall and reinstall my app on the phone. This went on for 5 months until I raised a stink and then they admitted that it was a server side issue and it would take some more time to fix.

Like the other commenter on this page says, they will try to take revenge for posting and delete my services again. I expect this to happen and then I will take my complaint to the next level.

The Consumer Protection Department of the State Attorney General's Office needs to take a closer look at Freedompop's business practices.

Vengeful Company
March 14, 2019

I have used FP for several years with no problem. In February ordered a new phone from them. After almost 4 weeks the phone wasn't shipped so I asked for a refund. They said I had canceled the account and they didn't have to refund the almost $300. I complained to them and to my credit card company. My CC company reversed the charge on 03/02 and 3 days later (03/05) FP changed their mind and refunded the purchase less some bogus $10 fee.

I thought it was over and my CC company would reverse the the reversal and all would be good. But not so fast. Today (March 15) FP send me an email and said they had canceled my old account. This bricked my old phone about half way through an annual account which cost about $80.

So they cheated me out of about $50 and I don't have my old phone because they didn't ship a new phone I had ordered.

Impossible to cancel
March 8, 2019

Impossible to cancel. They keep charging your account even after you've put in a cancellation request. They have no customer service or billing department to talk with regarding booking issues. I've left messages with their Sales and Technical Support, but never got a call back. The micro card they mailed me wouldn't even for in my Moto-X cell phone. Worst. Customer. Service. Ever!

All the way worst!
March 4, 2019

The call service was horrible - would prompt you to subscribe for "paid voice service" - only to realize that the paid service was equally horrible! On top of that they started making some additional charges without my knowledge. The last incident - they changed the monthly subscription 9 days in advance and will not refund or cancel my account when I asked to do so (still on a valid current billing cycle' for 5 more days; charges for my future billing cycle was charged 4 days ago. They wont cancel/refund!) Stay away!

Don't Do It!
February 18, 2019
Updated review

I did get my refund from them. It was like pulling teeth. But I got my money back. All but $37. Better than nothing. They can keep that $37. If you get hooked up with Freedompop, you will regret it. They are not telling you everything in the advertisement. They will constantly go into your bank account, sometimes 3-7 times in a day... everyday, withdrawing funds back to back. They drained my bank. I had to contact news reporters. You will catch hell getting in touch with Freedompop after they clean you out.
Then, if you put a freeze on your bank account to stop them from withdrawing, they will stop whatever service you have with them. I feel it is very important that I update you on what happened, so you won't get sucked in with them. Don't do it!

Where is my refund for returning the nova hotspot? You not responding to emails and calling is useless, automated system come on requesting a updated credit card. My account suppose to be close. Give me my money and less rap up this problem. I shouldn't have to go through all of this, just to cancel and get my refund. I'm getting annoyed..

"Free", my $#*!
January 31, 2019

Everything says free phone service but they start you at 40 a month, you can downgrade to their "free" service but it costs 20 dollars to do so, and all their services are paid services, so there is no way you can get it free, but considering the service is complete garbage anyway, I guess you can't expect too much from them, especially a refund, they will not give you a refund at all, this site and their service is garbage.

WORST COMPANY EVER?
January 14, 2019

I cannot say enough bad things about FreedomPop. I've never run across a more incompetent company. I'll give a brief timeline of events.

12/21 - I order a mobile hotspot for an event I have to service on 12/29. For shipping, I order a 1-2 day rush.

12/27 - I receive an email saying the device was shipped that day. It is scheduled to be delivered on 1/9! That's 19 days after I ordered it.

12/27 - I call FreedomPop and order a 2nd hotspot overnight. They say it will be shipped on 12/28 and delivered on 12/29.

12/31 - It's two days after my event. I receive the device ordered on 12/27. It was shipped on 12/29 and was shipped via 2-day Priority, not overnight. The device is completely dead.

1/8 - I receive the device ordered on 12/21. No matter how much I charge it, the battery meter shows 0%. The battery completely loses its charge within a week.

1/14 - I've been sick and was hoping to call FreedomPop earlier, but I didn't have the energy. I spend 55 minutes on the phone with a rep. I want everything refunded. I'm told for the 12/21 hotspot, I will be refunded for the device when it's returned and for shipping less $7. They don't want to give me a full refund even though the device was delivered 16 days late and wasn't functioning properly. For the 12/27 hotspot, I will be refunded the cost of the device but not the $25.99 I paid for overnight shipping. This is despite receiving a completely dead device that arrived 2 days late. I was also charged $37.98 for service today. They said I can't be refunded that because there's a 14-day window after service starts to request a refund. They said service started on 12/29. That's the day I should have received my 12/27 device. However, I didn't receive it until 12/31, which is 14 days ago, within the window to be refunded. Moreover, the device I received on 12/31 was dead.

Fortunately, before my event I had enough sense to realize there was a good chance FreedomPop wouldn't deliver on their promises. I scheduled an expensive backup solution that worked. Hopefully my credit card company has enough sense to reverse the charges FreedomPop doesn't refund.

They say freedom has a price. In this case "freedom" cost me hours of valuable time, about $70 in non-refunded charges, and the desire to drive my head through a wall. That's all I'm left with.

Awful, don't do it.
November 30, 2018

I never could get the service up and running and they refused to speak to me on the phone. They kept emailing me for support, so I cancelled their services. That was 2 yrs ago. Now my bank alerted me that they are trying to charge me 23.98, but my bank rejected the transaction and will continue to do so since it is not valid. Do not do service with these folks. I can't even get them on the phone to talk to me about this issue. TERRIBLE PLACE. BE WARNED.

Don't ever deal with this company. I tried there service a long time ago and it was very bad service calls wouldn't go thru half the time etc. I cancelled it about a year ago now all of a sudden about a year later they automatically debit money from my paypal account and when I contact them they claim I had service and it was payment for service from them they will absolutely not refund my money. You can't even call the company and talk to a person all you can do is email them. Don't ever get involved with them!
