Came home on Thursday, saw a man with a suitcase outside my door. I didn't know the man. 5 of my neighbours were outside their houses watching him, so I asked him what he wanted. He said he was from out of town and was looking for a girl with long dark hair called Diane. I told him no Diane lived at that house, then walked over to my neighbours and watched him leave. After I went inside I opened up my computer to the facebook site which I use to keep in touch with family only, around the world. I was shocked to see a box on my facebook page saying 39 men had reviewed my profile and wanted to be in contact. When I went to my profile page I saw another message and photo of the guy who had just been at my house, it said he lived 1.2miles from me. I began to try and delete my profile photos but since a relative had posted some of them I found I had to get his permission to TAKE MY PHOTO off! Then I got angry because I felt facebook put my personal safety at risk by selling my personal info (only available to family) to some business I certainly did/would not agree to. Fortunately my neighboours were curious. My relative agreed to take his photos of me off my profile but facebook will not allow me to take my profile photo and replace it with something innocuous..

Hopefully something better comes along and destroys facebook... as they leak your privacy to the government and they have too many controls in place... they are too big and need to be replaced by something greater.

I stopped using facebook back in 2011 after a fiasco where I had to send my identification to them. It took them several weeks to resolve the issue. I was mentally drained after this long ordeal. I'm giving them 3 stars because the one good thing they offer is community pages. I had an issue where I was frauded on a forum and discovered later the individual resided in Bulgaria (claimed to live in Canada). After recovering my account from this Bulgarian thief, I reattempted to sell again on someones facebook community page. I had multiple people contact me and I was able to find someone that was only 100 miles away which I was then able to complete a successful transaction. Facebook offers great community pages to buy and sell products where people cannot hide their identity. The downside is they can really cause problems in your life if your account is locked down and you don't have security setup to unlock your account.

Too much information is provided to the public. Facebook should make it possible for people to communicate with each other without the world knowing all their information. They need better security functions. Other than that, I enjoy using the site to connect with people all over the world. I don't like my information shown publicly unless I authorize it.

It's a great way to stay in touch with family and friends, but it has a dark side to it. After eight years of consistent use, I finally deleted my account.

I just got tired of the frequent changes to the privacy policy. It's ironic that I was always the one to rationally analyze it, accept it and adapt to the change, rather than complain. The reason for that is that I prefer acting more and complaining less. I can accept an annoyance or two (or even three) because I understand that the stars don't always have to align just for me; however, once an unpleasant identifiable pattern is established, I act accordingly when I can no longer accept it. In this case, I walked out of Facebook. I don't want to be part of a place that pays lip service to "privacy," only to frequently change its definition of it. You may be comfortable with certain privacy settings for a time, but when you least expect they are changed unbeknownst to you. I judge by actions, not euphemisms.

One of the changes that annoyed me the most was when they made it possible again for anyone to email one. In the past, one can set it so that only friends can contact one, but then they changed it so that anyone can send messages to anyone. The only thing is that now they would be stored in a practically invisible "Other" folder (as opposed to the visible "Inbox."). This is vexing to EVERYONE, not just those who choose to set their page so that only contacts can email them. For those who didn't mind being contacted by the world, it took a while before they figured out they had a bunch of "Other" messages waiting to be read.

I always witnessed people endlessly complain about the changes; if they acted as much as they complain, Facebook would be catering more to our needs than the NSA's. My advice to you is this-- if you're unhappy with Facebook changes, for the love of Zeus, LEAVE! If you decide that your reasons to stay are stronger than your annoyance, quit complaining! Actions speak louder than words. After an established pattern of this behavior, it is safe to predict Facebook will not listen to users' petitions.

Who stands to benefit from our constant need to share, like and comment? Marketing companies who target intrusive ads at us? The NSA in desperate search for subversive key words? Mark Zuckerberg and all Facebook shareholders? Our stalkers? In turn, what do we get out of it? These are all questions worth analyzing when one plans to either leave or return to Facebook.

I do not own a Facebook account anymore. This site will allow ANYONE to join. Child molesters, rapist, anti-Semitics, Animal sex offenders the list goes on and on. They should be shut down unless they are monitored a lot closer. Have the NSA teach them how. Mr. Zuckerberg should be held accountable for all of it especially the cyber-bullies who intimidate people into suicide. I thought that was called aiding and abetting not to mention involuntary manslaughter.

This site is good for connecting with people. Obviously there are some problems with privacy. But bottom line is, don't post anything that you'll regret in the future.

Awesome site/group for people living in the Teesside area of UK, recycles unwanted items and members give away their trash and other people ask to be considered for them, keeps local landfills down and gives items a new lease of life

I thought this site was going to be fun to connect with many different moms but it wasn't. This site allowed a mother to share in descriptive writing the physical abuse allowing the father to spank their daughter bare bottom over his lap she and her husband have been doing to their 15 year old daughter everytime she disobeyed. It was disgusting. They didn't even stop it. Once I sent them an email some of my conversations started being erased. Those in charge don't like being called out on something they should be doing but start bullying members. I'd still like to know why this woman was allowed to post them spanking their daughter half naked and will continue to until she is 20. Disgusting and unexceptable

Facebook is a nice way to connect with your friends and family. It is convenient.

The adds are irritating. The mobile frequently has issues and now ads...

The Bloom is off the rose. On it yeah... staying? Only because friends are there. Eager to find elsewhere.
