Facebook is wildly popular. Almost everyone I know has one, and it's really convenient if you have relatives who live far away. But there are many privacy issues with it. It's not safe to post anything there, really. If you are fine with everyone knowing your business, then FB is the site for you.
Another problem with this site is that people in general are annoying. There are the over sharers, who tell about every single thing they do every day. Then there are people who post a constant flood of memes. Don't forget the people who post vague stabs at "unknown" people who have apparently wronged them.

I am also sick of seeing "If you don't share this, you worship Satan" type things.

I'm sorry but FB is NOT great. As I mentioned before, it may be convenient to talk to family members you never see, but I don't know if it's worth all the irritation. Why not just call your family?

If FB was used properly and relative to its initial purpose I believe it would be a great social networking site offering all the possibilities and positive aspects of relationships, new friendships, support and advice, etc.
Unfortunately, as with most online services like this there will be inevitable flaws and various issues surface considering the massive online communities across the world who now have access to the internet and these sites, regardless of rules, such as FAcebook stating specific age restrictions which obviously cannot be monitored tightly and accurately or their no bullying policy and *******@facebook email they use in attempt to prevent it, among many company websites, these regulations act merely as guidelines for good practice alongside many insufficient and preventative intervention methods that are implemented with the right intentions, but at the same time they are fully aware their rules will certainly be broken, but more what is more concerning is the compromising of some real and sometimes very serious current issues, such as cyber bullying leading to self harm and potentially suicide in the extreme, right through to less serious issues such as teenagers using social networking sites to promote and advertise a pre planned fight on their local park.

Advantage is to keep in touch with good friends you can't see a lot. Disadvantage is to add and accept people who are not friends and will never be. So the page is most commonly a watered down page, which looks more like an advertisement for parts of your more superficial soul, with a scattering of one or two contributions from real friends. Twitter goes to the other extreme however and as a result it is more like a slambook and headline-rolling device... and I can't use a site like that. In general I say that any social networking site reminds us that looking through this monitor-glass darkly, or brightly, or multi-colored-ly... is a terrible (in all that word's dire implications) substitute for squeezing all the juice out of life that we can, and when to suck on the inner skin, and then knowing when to throw the rinds in the compost pile;=)

Aside from the occasional ex boyfriends girlfriend stalking me, or that creeper who read my name tag at work who randomly added me. I love this stupid website. I keep coming back for more. I must warn you that this website is addicting, and once you understand this jibberish about to come, then high five to you my fellow facebooker.
