I ordered 9.5 yards of a linen material to make a bedskirt. It came in 6 seperate cut pieces TO TOTAL 9.5 yards. SIX! No one contacted me before sending it & after I complained & noted the fabric was now backordered, I received a UPS notice that a return label was created. Still no contact or discussion with anyone from Fabric.com. Im supposed to now take this to a UPS store to send it back & hope they refund my money. What about the co-ordinating fabric & thread I bought to go with it that was in the same order? I've bought hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars worth of fabric & notions from them over the last few years but they lost a cutomer for life & it's because no one bothered to contact me. Mistakes happen but there's no excuse for not following up with a cutomer & trying to make it right.

Three out of 7 times that I have made purchases from fabric.com, I have ordered fabric that was in stock only to receive an email a few days later (not the next day) stating that the fabric that I ordered was out of stock. If this is the case (which it seems to be quite frequently), you have 24 hours from receipt of the email to make changes to your order. This is a major bummer for a number of reasons.

First, if you still want the fabric on backorder, but don't get the email in time, this means that you will be refunded, but have to purchase it again but have to pay for additional shipping costs. Second, the fabric in your order that is in stock is still shipped to you. That means that you may get some of your fabric, but may possibly be unable to work on your project until all of the fabric is received, some of which will either be on back order or you may have to order another color (which can often times change your whole project).

This is incredibly frustrating. Additionally, processing is VERY SLOW. I'm talking, snails pace slow. From purchase to shipping (or email indicating out of stock), you can typically expect a minimum of 4 business days. So, unless you order on a Monday, this probably means that you should include 2 weekend days for processing. They have poor. Processing. Management. It's incredible.

Apart from how slow they are, the major takeaway is that you can order items that are listed as in stock and find out days later that they were not really in stock after all! Apparently, this is typical for this business. If they would fix this, I could overlook the delays in shipping.

I continue to order from them because they have good fabric options and I don't know of another place online to order. Any suggestions, anybody? As far as I see it, if someone wants to start up online fabric sales, the market is ripe and ready for a better run business.

After reading bad reviews, I Contacted customer service to please cancel my order. In just a day I had my money back. Customer service was very helpful and kind to me. They are easy to get ahold of if you do online chat, their emails take longer to go through. I got every single penny refunded with no problem.

I am still waiting for fabric that I ordered on Dec 30!. My package is lost, and all I get from customer service is "did you contact the postal service?". Seriously? Try to do that! They would not help me, had a crummy attitude, and this was after 2 emails went completely unanswered. Bad, bad, place. Do not order from them.

I have ordered from Fabric.com directly and had to cancel the order because they can not fulfill a 5 yard order without it being 4.5 yds and a. 5 yd pc. They billed my credit card as soon as I ordered then 5 days later send an email that they can not fill it. I call and get a sorry do you want us to ship it anyway? I say cancel, 5 days later I still do not see a credit. Fast forward a few weeks and I order from Amazon.com but it is sold by fabric.com it says nothing about being low, I order 5 yards... again 5 days later I get an email stating do I want it in 4.5 and. 5yd pcs AND the email states to email back in 24 hrs or they will ship. But Amazon blocks the email they say to use. I go through the Amazon complaint area and three days later I get an email that it is cancelled, BUT my order still shows pending on Amazon and my credit card is still charged. I WILL NEVER order from fabric.com again

I have ordered Tommy Bahama Beach Bounty fabric many times and paid U.S. $9.90 per metre. Imagine my surprise when I went to order and it was close to U.S. $22 per yard.
When I contacted fabric.com for an explanation, I was simply told that was the correct price. I find that a 'non-explanation' and more than arrogant. I have since bought the same fabric elsewhere for U.S. $9.90 per yard. And got a pleasant surprise when their freight was also half the price I had been oaying with fabric.com. Very dissappointed!

On the 1st of December I ordered a yard of fabric to make a top that I wanted to wear during New Years and I immediately went to Fabric.com. They are always my first choice. They had a beautiful red and orange snakeskin fabric that went perfectly with my shoes so I ordered it along with a zipper. I got a confirmation from them and Paypal saying the funds went through and on the 3rd the tracking info was done. I kept up with tracking and I noticed after the 7th... NOTHING! I waited a few more days and on the 12th I sent an email asking if I could get information. They go on to tell me the fabric was sold out and they weren't getting anymore and I was honestly so upset. They led me to think it was on its way and the only way I know it isn't coming is because I reached out to them. They would've never told me and since I let them know I was upset and it was unprofessional I got no response. They are now completely ignoring me and I have nothing to wear AND no refund. The website also sent me an email asking me to 'review an item I purchased' and they denied my review because I said they never sent anything even though they took my money. I am done with them!

Received my package RIGHT AWAY. One item was not what I wanted, (my fault as I didn't see it was fleece when ordered). Customer service rep was condescending and rude, telling me if I just read the discription I would know. Purchased through amazon, my husband's account, she needed to speak with my husband before authorizating a refund so I put him on the phone. This upset her also, stating afterwards, if I want to use his account I need to contact amazon and add myself to his account first. Very strange, since the order came with papers stating free returns, money back guarantee, but the rep seems to act as though she was on some power trip. Should be a simple process

No longer a customer
December 16, 2016

Fabric.com - while having a good selection has HORRIBLE customer service.
My experience included -- a purchase that did not arrive, RUDE customer service people and then just being ignored, There is too much competition out there for them to have this kind of customer service behavior. Fabric.com learn from your parent company.

Not happy that this business is not standing behind their return policy. The policy states on the website, "All items (apart from exceptions below) purchased at Fabric.com carry a 30-day no-questions-asked money-back guarantee. Eligible domestic returns within the 30-day guarantee period may be returned at no charge to you."

They have offered to refund the order cost, but not the shipping for a product that was misrepresented in the product description. "No cost" should mean NO COST. Instead, I will be out the $5 it cost to get something that is not as described. That's not okay, and is in fact a cost. They claim to be "unable" to refund this cost, which is preposterous. Any charge you can take out is able to be refunded. They simply do not WANT to do it. Beware when using this company that they do not stand behind their word and that you need to read all of the fine print in the product descriptions... Giant bold print stating "Brocade" may in fact just be a calico cotton print worth FAR less than the price they charge.

I was very pleased with my experience with this site. I placed an order and received it in 1 week. Fabric was just as pictured and good quality. I order some black out backing and it was too heavy for my window treatment. I had to request a return authorization. This was a very easy process and my credit was received in 1 week after return. I will definitely shop here again.

I sent for two samples of stretch velvet - Navy and Royal Blue. The Navy was perfect. I made an error cutting a sleeve. Reordered and the fabric was so full of flaws it could not be used. Do they just close their eyes and cut? Shipping this way they should cut every piece with a light. Flawed fabric should never leave their premises. I returned it and was sent another piece which was not even close to Navy. Is closer to the Royal sample!
If a company selling on line cannot purchase from a dependable mill, then they should not be in business.
Sample books are the "bible" for a drapery business. How would a business succeed if the fabric was a different shade from the sample book? The same applies to Fabric.com.
I guess I'll have to have one outfit a different color! VERY SAD!
Also, I will be filing a complaint with the BBB.

Lesson learned
November 3, 2016

I placed an order for 4 yards of fabric. When it arrived, it was not cut straight, and the longer side was 4 inches short of what I had purchased. Between the short yardage and straightening the cut, it was too short for the curtains I was making for my grandson's bedroom. I wrote to the company and the response was pretty much "oops!" Never again.

I am a first time shopper at Fabric.com, and I am very pleased and surprised at how quickly I received my fabric. I ordered on a Thursday and received my fabric on Saturday. The fabric was just what I ordered. I will order from them again!

Wow, I wish I read these reviews before. I ordered 21 yards of waverly Barano seaspray fabric the color was totally different then on the picture. It was on sale that means final sale, who knew I didnt read the fine print. This should have been written on the fabric page itself not just in the return policy. Now I am stuck with fabric I cant use. Obviously this company doesnt care about reviews in the least since their score is 17%. Wow is all I can say, I lost $177 will never use this site again.

I have been buying from fabric.com for many years. Spent thousands of dollars on fabric each year. Lately they have been sending fabric in scrap pieces. If you do not have one piece of fabric don't send it. Purchased 8 yards of fabric for drapes and got it in 4 different pieces also different shades.

I bought 21 yards of duck canvas fabric to make slipcovers for my couch and chair. After receiving it I immediately threw the fabric in the washer, since it is 100% and not preshrunk. When I took it out, the dye had bled in a splotchy pattern across all 21 yards of fabric. I reached out to Fabric.com and they refused to even partially refund me, since they say it states on the site that it is dry clean only. It does say that on the site, and I take full responsibility for not seeing that when I bought the fabric. My only defense is that I have never heard of dry clean only duck canvas. Now I have 21 yards of useless fabric, an ugly couch and chair, and I am honestly disappointed in my experience with Fabric.com. I will not be buying from Fabric.com again based on their customer service and the quality of the dye of this fabric.

When I tried to put this review up on Fabric.com they rejected it.

UPDATE: After posting on their Facebook page, Fabric.com offered me $50 store credit. I definitely appreciate this, but after using the $50, I will not be ordering from them again.

Ordered $51 of fabric and received free shipping. One of the pieces was the wrong fabric so I emailed. No response after three days so I called. Asked to exchange the wrongly sent item and was told they didn't do exchanges and that when I re-ordered the fabric needed, I would have to pay shipping. I reminded her that this was their mistake but she still said she could not wave shipping. Really? Asked to speak to her supervisor. Supervisor explained that their system was not set up for an exchange but they would send a label for free return and give me $5 for shipping. Good deal BUT I have to wait two days for the $5 to show up in my account before I can order the fabric that I need. I also have to print a label and drive 8 miles to mail back the piece that they mistakenly sent. It will take another week+ before I have the fabric. Not happy.
***UPDATE By Monday morning, the $5 credit was in my account and I just re-ordered. I'm glad that I asked to speak to a supervisor. I have amended my star rating from 2 stars to 3.

Fabric.com shipped me the wrong fabric. Told me first to keep it, and they would refund my purchase price. Nothing happened. Then they told me to ship it back, so I did. Still nothing. They acknowledged their receipt of my return, and gave me the same story (twice) about processing my refund. No refund, and it's been a year. Nothing short of a lawsuit is going to free up my refund, and I'm thinking of filing just on principle. Please learn from my bad experience and DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SITE. It's really rare for me to encounter a truly unscrupulous business that lies openly, BUT THIS SITE IS ONE OF THOSE!
