This place was a joke horrible experince and i paid way to much for my unit then they hiked up my rate buy 70 dollarz saying i. Ane in of internet deal they broke into my unit and went threw my stuff also half a ztar rrvuew
They gauge you cost wise, but that's the least of the negatives. The manager is sick. If "gated" is a positive for you, that will soon change if you decide to store your belongings there. The manager who lives in the apartment above the office is a Criminal Minds level of creepy. He uses that gate to trap you in so you can't leave. I told him to let us out. He said "blow me $#*!". Sick bastard. Rude, snide and the most unprofessional employee I've ever dealt with.
Save yourself the irritation
Don't pay 11$ or 16.50$ for their insurance
It's better you go through your renter's insurance or car insurance and add it there
At least you will be truly covered.
As for the rental unit monthly rent increases well
It's true!
And since I can't get my claim paid for my damaged items, well the least I can do is make sure that no one else becomes a victim.
This is what social media was made for, since we don't have the time to fight in court then we can spread the word so that no one does business with them anymore.
The cost of treating your customers horribly is... you get no more for the future!
Love to add photos... but to resave as 300x300 pixel is a pain and time don't have
I have been leasing space well before extra space storage bought the facility which was over two years ago, I believe? I have a large locker and its big bucks every month! The prior owners would do almost anything for you and they were even smart enough to have several porta potties on site. When extra space took over guess what, those were the first thing to go! So now, I pee in a coffee can and pour it out on site! What a bunch of jerk's! Just the other day, I needed ONE simple bucket of water so I asked for one in the office. Well guess what, OH no I'm sorry we dont have any water. I was flabbergasted to say the least. Of course they have water, they are just to lazy to get you any. So I looked around and low and behold, i found a frost free hydrant at the end of my building. It has a lock but it was open. See what I mean about F N lazy? JERKS!
Extra Space Storage is very unethical and lacks the basic resolution skills when dealing with customers. They are infesting our communities with rodents and destroying the very things people cherish the most. Memories of loved ones are all some people have left.
Extra Space will operate in a manner that meets their bottom line and not what's in the best interest of the customers! They disrespect you… not realizing we keep them employed. They depend on people giving up and not staying the course. However, the NN location will be held accountable! If I have to protest them in some form daily! I want to keep others from going through this traumatic experience!
We are still in the fight of our life TOGETHER after this pandemic. During your most vulnerable times these structures will be poorly kept up and not properly regulated! The district team is negligent, lacks morals and principles and will attempt to threaten, harass and bully you. I will be contacting others that have shared a similar experience. It is my hopes that the city shut them down!
Super disappointed that I received a post card notifying me that my Davie, FL storage rent will go up by $14 per month due to "market conditions". That's almost a 19% increase!
They are taking all my money for a very small storage unit. Im paying a car note. 190.00 dollars a month. I wasnt there when my family set it up, But I calling to get more information tomorrow. Im pissed.
Next day
I called Extra space storage, The empolyee was so
Helpful. I got a new storage for 77.00 dollars a month with a credit for a free month. Im so happy to be saving the money. I take it all back.
Went by today to ask about a small storage space and the woman in the office acted as she did not care if we rented or not. I wanted to know about the first month free and what the catch was but she was not interested in talking to me. I have never rented a story room before and has no idea what to ask and she was no help at all.
He facility I stored my items was located on Bardstown Road in Louisville, KY. Security is virtually non-existent. They have numerous break-ins and have made great efforts to keep the people renting the lockers from knowing about them. None of these crimes are ever solved, and stolen items never recovered. Despite reassurances that they are correcting the problems, that is just completely untrue and break-ins with entire lockers trashed and pilfered is a recurrent problem. I moved out the same day after I discovered a break-in and they refused to refund the remainder of my rent until I threatened to take them to court. Learn from mine and many other former tenants: AVOID THIS COMPANY IF YOU VALUE YOUR PROPERTY!
Today I went to my storage and found it was ransacked and my electric guitar and amplifier was stolen it's still a mystery to me what happened the lock was not cut but I did go online and it said my lock is easy to pick. Also some Elvis stuff is missing my foot locker was open. The storage people wouldn't even compensate me for my rent now really we put our stuff there for them to keep safe and then it gets ripped off. Also rodent problems and I got something ruined.
Within a year of renting here, my rent has gone up THREE TIMES, and is now a full $40 over what is available to a new customer on-line FOR THE SAME UNIT.
What part of this doesn't feel like price gouging?
I've rented from ESS since 2019 in Charlotte, Tampa and now Pittsburgh. The other 2 locations never raised my rent. But this one in Pittsburgh has gone nuts!
Don't rent here unless you like inflation.
His name is angle he gets way to friendly an makes me very uncomfortable approached me one day an actually made me cry assumed I stay here when I come here to do other work an get away he gets off at 6 site closes at 10 open at 6:30 doors at 10 come in early to watch cameras an when I'm not in his view he looks me out of the bathroom as well as that means no one else like me that rents a storage here can use the restroom he makes me very uncomfortable an honestly I can't wait till I can move to a different storage an have my belongs an myself uncomfortable when here I plan on making a complaint to the property owner an harassment charges
I was really happy and impressed AT FIRST. I received the online rate the first month, then my 2nd month it went up by over $100 and now for my 3rd month, I was notified its going up ANOTHER $100!
This is very dirty nasty business! They know how hard it is for people to turn around and pay movers again and go through that moving headache again. Not to mention plane tickets and motels for those of us who are out of state. But I'm going to do it!... I'm not leaving my belongings with a business that cannot be trusted. Its consumer fraud. Gouging. And should be against the law. I won't be surprised if a class action lawsuit arrises after what I just saw on the BBB and others.
Helping my sister-in-law move out. She had paid movers and there were no carts. Only one other person was there using a cart. I complained at the office and they were not at all sympathetic or remorseful. They said people probably put them in their units. I would not recommend this place at all. Also, they raised my sister-in-law's monthly payment after the first month and gave her no notice when she first signed up.
This is the worst storage space rental I have ever had in my life wish I had known my storage could/would increase whenever you all choose to do so I won't have never rented a storage with your company. In all my years in different states & different cities where I've rented a storage unit not one has ever changed rates on my while I was in a contract... I will be sure to never use your services again & tell everyone of my horrible experience so they won't suffer the same fate. & The Lady supervisor I believe at my location is RUDE DISRESPECTFUL & HAS NO CARE OR CONCERNED FOR CUSTOMERS... CAN'T WAIT TO BE OUT OF YOUR UNIT & DONE WITH YOUR BUSINESS WILL NEVER DO AGAIN HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! PLEASE PEOPLE STAY AWAY THESE PEOPLE WILL CHANGE THEIR RATES AT WILL AT ANY GIVEN TIME... WISH I WOULD HAVE KNOWN DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! 1257 S Hairston Rd Stone Mountain, GA *******
Boston, MA branch went from great to horrible Sr, 2019-2021. In addition to steadily increasing rates throughout the pandemic--sending notices only by mail but threats to pitch my stuff via e-mail weeks later--they filed no report after my TV and 2 huge boxes of kitchen stuff and linens were stolen. The site supervisor asked if I'd had movers then nobody got back to me from local or corporate offices.
The most disturbing aspect is that the thieves took their time: broke a toaster and tossed it back; punched holes through my linen, room-divider screen; rummaged through rubber tubs and took clocks and blankets from the top then replaced the covers, etc. And there was no sign of tampering with the lock--obviously an inside job, so even had they checked the tapes to see anyone with a good-sized TV (40" stand) under his arm leaving the building, it's highly unlikely that tape would be there vs. "oops, got taped over."
About to move a year later, I'll cram 1 BR's worth of stuff into a studio or rented room rather than put the non-valuables I have left in storage, risking damage to sentimental items.
I rented a 5x10 unit in Louisville Ky on Chamberlain Ln. They charged me 135.00 A month. I got a 10x10 down on Shelbyville road for 124.00. This company is overpriced. I feel like I was taken advantage of when I signed up for the unit. I just want people to shop around before you get a storage unit.
Cannot view full lease till you have made an initial payment, key terms regarding lease rates are not highlighted, are poorly explained and easy to misread. They sign you up at a reasonable rate which they do not clearly state is a short-term promotional rate, and in my case are trying to raise it from $101 to $160 after only four months. It appears from the number of similar experiences that this is their business model.
My experience with Extra Space Storage was very rocky start to finish, The staff was professional but anything other then showing us the unit itself they couldn't do much. Shortly after we moved in, they had a line break with the sprinkler and we had to move all our belongings to another unit closer that was available. We were charged extra for the unit since it was bigger and the only thing we could do about our belonging was to report it to insurance. They don't take any responsibility for your items if they are at fault. When we took our belongings out of the unit they simply canceled our account without speaking to us 3 days after we he had paid for the full month and since the account was canceled we had no way of getting any pro rate and they refused to refund any of the payment. This is after speaking with the staff who are trained to cancel the account without reaching out, customer service, the district manager, and a call from the corporate office. But everyone was very friendly about how they would not be able to help us in any way. They do however encourage reviews immediately after renting from them, I can only assume in hopes of burying any negative reviews they have.
I had a unit at Extra Storage for 3 years. The rates kept increasing a large board room table was stolen because it wouldn't fit on the elevator so I had to go get help to move it. It was locked inside the building 16 minutes later it was stolen by someone that the Extra Storage person gave access in the building. Because of the rates I decided to move. I notified them. I removed everything from unit except 3 items that wouldn't fit on truck. One item was worth $3000, a fridge and a chair. I left and forgot that I had a piece of the lock so my Storage was pulled down but not locked. Extra Storage called foe me to come back and lock unit but I was already out of town. I sent someone back there the next day to get it but Extra Storage locked my code out. This was June 9th. I told them that I was moving out. They kept my items, locked me out and would not honor my move out request. They continued to charge me until August which was 2 months later after moveout. Then put over $600 on my credit report. 1. Why wouldn't they let me get my belongings I wasn't even 15 days late? 2. Why did they lock me out? 3. Why did they continue to charge me when I went on line to process moveout as requested by the worker? 4. How can they put it on my credit report and keep over $4000 worth of items (3 items)?
