Etsy Reviews Summary

The company's reputation is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from poor customer service and unresolved order issues. Many customers report extensive delays in shipping and inadequate communication regarding their purchases, leading to frustration and a sense of helplessness. Additionally, there are widespread concerns about the platform's reliance on automated systems, which fail to provide effective support for both buyers and sellers. Despite some positive experiences with individual sellers, the overarching sentiment highlights a pressing need for improved transparency and accountability from the company to enhance customer trust and satisfaction.

Etsy makes the scamming of sellers easy for scam buyers, and etsy pretends to have customer service, in order to lure people into buying and selling on their site.

Don't Bother
April 15, 2020

I have three orders placed with Etsy for three different face masks from three different suppliers. I ordered them all on 4/4 and was under the impression when I placed my order that all items were in stock and would ship right out. Two of the three have not shipped yet and the one that did ship still has not arrived. The supplier has given me two delivery dates, both which have come and gone. I seriously doubt that I will ever order from this company again and I'm glad I used PayPal because I can see me asking for my money back down the road.

If your a seller they will hold your payments for days or weeks while you are trying to calm buyers who are telling you they have paid! They tell you not to send stuff until the payment is processed but buyers are wondering why its taking WEEKS! Etsy makes you get bad reviews so you have to pay for advertising to actually get sales! You pay and pay and pay and you get nothing in return. They don't even care about you.

I never sold anything on Etsy before and, after the misfortune of using their services, I don't think I ever will.

Earlier today, a tiny little thought ran across my mind and it whispered to me "maybe I could open an online store with Etsy to sell some digital photos" seeing I successfully sold them before in the past on several different sites and had no trouble with any of them, but it's been a long time since I dropped that hobby, and I thought Etsy would be a great place to sell, seeing its prominent theme is "Creativity."

So, I opened up a store and made one listing. That's right. Just one single listing and it was at a very reasonable price. I sent my ID for verification, bank details for receiving payments, and debit card details for billing. I got confirmation that my store is up and running and I was quite thrilled.

But, foolish me didn't predict the tragedy about to strike within the next 10 minutes, for I was then caught off guard by being unable to log back into my account or make any further changes to my Etsy shop. I was puzzled, but soon the great discovery was unravelled when I attempted to log back in, and, much to my horror, after typing in my credentials and hitting the "enter" key, a red menacing banner loomed over the screen, reading: "Account Has Been Deactivated."

All photos I list and sell has been taken by none other than myself, so I wasn't pulling a copyright infringement issue. The photo wasn't even of an offensive nature - it was a picture of a bird. The price I set was very reasonable, in fact cheaper, compared to competitive listings, and this was literally the first, and thankfully last selling account made with Etsy.

I would show the listing, but, as my account has been deactivated, I am only able to show the "Account Deactivated" photo.

In the tiny light from all of this, I notice that this is a punitive pattern particularly for new vendors who have literally done nothing wrong. It can also affect seasoned vendors, but usually over one tiny setback, mistake and/or inconvenience beyond their control.

So, Etsy, thank you very much for how you implement your very reasonable punishment system. It's nice to know the spirit of the Schutzstaffel still lives on.

Peace.

If anyone has any questions to buy in this place, I recommend that you listen to your intuition and do not buy or write to me and I will tell you my experience. The folder is nice, only what you request does not and they charge it. Then you give send to the purchase you get a $60 shipping fee. I paid $160 for a simple folder and the name they put inside is not visible. I've never had such an experience shopping online. And when you communicate by email, they answer you with all the unacceptable excuses and they don't solve anything for you. A real scam!

My account got suspended due to some of my products not handmade by me and the suspension will not be lifted off. What money I made will not be transferred to my paypal until September 2020. This company makes their money on 90% of sellers products that are "NOT HANDMADE" but, are dropshipped from other companies. Yet, here I am one of the few ones who got their account suspended for having "SOME" of my listings as not handmade. This company is a JOKE, they say everything has to be handmade but, make most of their money off of pre-made products. All I'm saying is if I am suspended for some of my non-handmade products then this COMPANY needs to suspend all of the other sellers (90% of Etsy money makers) that are not hand making products for sell. I am angry and calling this situation unfair.

If you are thinking of opening a Etsy shop, DO NOT. Avoid them at all costs. I run a shop on Etsy that has done tremendously well. They have run out of ways to grow their business without taking revenue from their shopkeepers. Read that again. They do not have your best interests in mind and their business goals are in direct conflict with yours. If you play that out, you have no leverage and will lose. This results in you giving them more money, more of your time, and leaves a feeling similar to working for a boss you don't like.

I have invested all of my marketing into a store elsewhere on my own domain and am now just counting down the days for when I finally shut it off if they don't do it beforehand. I have made 10x as much by NOT USING etsy. Do yourself a favor by not falling for the Etsy trap.

I have been selling on Etsy for over 4 years. We had thousands of orders. The customers were quite happy, the score of our shop was about 4.7 out of 5! All the reviews were very positive, except for a few reviews for which we delivered the wrong items or for which the transporters lost the parcel or have delayed the delivery (nobody is perfect, we as a small workshop and company, do also mistakes and we always pro-actively compensate or refund customers whenever such issue happened). In 4 years, we had 4 disputes with customers (out of thousands of orders). All those disputes were due to the transporter's fault (shipping delays). Of course some customers are not willing to understand that WE ARE NOT working for the transporter, and that this situation annoys us as much as them... Regardless, Etsy BANNED US from selling on their store, despite us having a very good rating with our customers, and always trying to find solutions to please them. Etsy did not allow us to make any appeal or whatsoever. I woke up a morning reading an email saying that our store was banned, that I will never be able to open a store anymore on Etsy, and that they would not reply any of my emails after that. I find this treatment really not fair, respectful nor professional for a company listed on the NYSE! After discussing with few other Etsy sellers, I realized that I was not the same in this case, and that Etsy's treatment to its sellers was quite unfair as MANY complained about similar issues, and about the fact to not be protected by Etsy. Some of the sellers on Etsy have been scammed by Etsy customers (received the product but also got their money back for invalid reasons), and Etsy did nothing about it. This is a shame for such company, and that clearly show how those big corporation really treat people. Etsy pretend to help small artisans and artists to develop their business, while the only thing they care about is their own profit and stock prices. Shame on Etsy, I will never sell nor buy anything from them again.

Etsy are corrupt! They have thousands of fake account trolls who save your items, they place them in baskets and favourite them, they use Etsy like it is Pinterest!
These trolls save thousands of items, then Etsy advise sellers to give discounts to people who favourite your items. So they try to drive your prices down. Not one real buyer in the World would put thousands of items in baskets, or save your items just to look at, they are FAKE!
Also they save your photos on Pinterest, use them as advertising and inflate the price! So when potential customers click on your item listing, it looks like the price has been heavily reduced.
Why the 5* reviews on here? Because Etsy are brilliant at employing people to be fake buyers and sellers, you will never get to the bottom of the cess pit Etsy trade at.
They are ruining business for small sellers, allowing the China market to dominate! They sell ten a penny tat and claim it is vintage and handmade. It is not! It is factory outlet rubbish, they have ruined many people and now fake everything on site and off site it seems.
Another company I will gather evidence on and send evidence to Watchdog.
Etsy is a terrible company!

I've bought a few items from etsy over the years, and while they have really unique stuff I find that the prices are often a little too high (not always the case but about half the time). Also lately Ive noticed the site becoming more like Amazon with people trying to seller cheaper manufactured items that they likely buy overseas. But if you spend the time searching you can generally find really nice, unique pieces.

Don't waste your time!
February 20, 2020

I was a seller with this company since 2014. Throughout the process, I realized that they were only looking out for themselves. The larger their platform became, the more obvious it became that they are all about the money and they see each individual shop as a number only. When you need help, they do not provide it. Startup businesses need guidance through the process, not just a platform to sell items. For example, when another shop uses/steals pictures of your products to promote their shop, Etsy will not back you. Instead they tell you to hire a lawyer and leave you high and dry. So why are you taking fees from us every month when you clearly don't offer any benefits or protection to the sellers? They call it a community, yeah right. You are there to keep them in business by using your creativity to do so and they don't even give you an Etsy gift card during the holidays or at your shops anniversary to support the other shops. They try to run it like Ebay when most sellers are creating handmade items. It is a flawed system that shows favoritism to shops that they deem worthy, and hopefully another company will come in and create a better platform. Until then start your own website and use social media platforms to market your items. Avoid the frustration that most Etsy sellers are experiencing.

Don't skip this review, I never left a negative in my life, but Etsy truly deserves a 0

I've been on Etsy for over 8 years. Over the 8 years. Sold over 20,000 items, with 99.8% positive review score and was in the top 1% of sellers. In October of 2019, I've gotten my first negative review after 7 years, as the customer did not properly use it, guess what? Etsy threatened to close my store, FIRST NEGATIVE, not 20th, not 30th, but first. I told them ok, I will improve and try to make sure this doesn't happen. Hundreds of positive reviews later, someone calculated the size of the item wrongfully, contacted Etsy support and my shop got closed?
You've got to be kidding me, not only that, they closed my family friends accounts as well, JUST BECAUSE they were somehow linked together. People that are completely irrelavent to my business, had their large businesses taken out because we were linked together. I finally reached Etsy on the phone, (once), and they told me that if I contact them again after this, they will report me to authorities and dropped the phone with no explanations. This is the saddest thing I've heard in my life, and I genuinely genuinely suggest for current sellers or future sellers to take their business elsewhere, since not only you will have 0 support (no seriously, its 0), but if by any chance someone will not be satisfied by your item / shipping time / delivery, Etsy will simply take you down. From what i see, Etsy only support Aliexpress or Alibaba resale Chinese accounts!
- Not going to even talk about those "customers" who make up insane stories about the item and Etsy protecting them
- Not even going to talk about competition trying to take down your business
- Also Etsy likely purchases the "good reviews" here in order to keep at least a decent image/
