The company's reputation is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from poor customer service and unresolved order issues. Many customers report extensive delays in shipping and inadequate communication regarding their purchases, leading to frustration and a sense of helplessness. Additionally, there are widespread concerns about the platform's reliance on automated systems, which fail to provide effective support for both buyers and sellers. Despite some positive experiences with individual sellers, the overarching sentiment highlights a pressing need for improved transparency and accountability from the company to enhance customer trust and satisfaction.

Worst customer service from 3rd party I've ever dealt with. Waiting 6 + months for order, seller won't refund, Etsy won't help.
Horrid service.
This is becoming a fraudulent site. Two out of two orders in the last month and both FRAUD.
LOL for the first one, the woman said (and Etsy) that they 'never received the payment' which shows clearly in my Paypal. The order not rendered, had to wait 1.5 month to file a complaint with Paypal, and then 3 weeks for a decision, all while the fraud Etsy had my money.
Etsy in the meantime kept sending the messages how 'they will take care of me' and 'resolve this' and never did.
DID YOU KNOW? YOU CAN'T REACH THEM OVER THE PHONE! BEWARE!
And today's 'digital delivery' order I received a 'digital' jpg thank you for your purchase. Hahahahah for $20 usd.
Etsy does not let you choose 'REFUND' in their options. So I have to wait to go though the Paypal process again.
DO NOT BUY FROM ETSY. I'M SURE THAT THEY HAVE SOME HONEST SELLERS BUT THERE ARE LOTS OF FRAUDSTERS OVER WHOM ETSY HAS NO CONTROL AND THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS A PURE BS, WHICH IS A FRAUD ON ITS OWN.
DO NOT BUY THERE.
See what I got for my purchase ha ha ha ha ha
Horrible experience buying on Etsy. Purchased a signed jersey for a birthday present one week in advance. All the seller did was create shipping labels but never shipped. By creating labels it shows Etsy the seller's intention to ship so Etsy doesn't see it as a problem. Of course, once the seller was contacted, he (James), used the iron clad COVID excuse. Once COVID is mentioned good luck trying to get anything resolved. I will NEVER BUY ON ETSY!
Ordered a product from LeArtPrint on 12/30. On 1/25 I received an email inviting me to review the product. Since I didn't receive the order, I gave a 1-star rating. Seller sent me nasty emails telling me I "needed to change the review." I asked for a refund. No response.
Contacted customer service and was told I had to keep asking/communicating with the seller and "hopefully, seller will grant me a refund." No offer to contact the seller; no consequences. Customer service said, "sellers set their own policies/rules" and we can't process a refund. So, basically, sellers have no consequences, can do what they want. I'm worried now because this guy has my credit card info. I've ordered from Etsy in the past and have been very happy. But this ordeal takes Etsy completely off the table as a legit site. No more Etsy. I'll stick with Ebay and Amazon. I don't trust Ebay.
Good luck if you need customer service at Etsy. No phone or chat. They do NOT answer emails. I got stiffed by a seller and they did not help. Had to dispute the charge with my credit card company and Etsy won't even rest to them.
Bought a scam product from one of Etsy's sellers and when asked for a refund they said I had to deal with my credit card company. Will not buy through Etsy again!
Refused to provide refund unless customer paid original shipping cost of $10.90 PLUS the return shipping cost of $10.90, for a total of $21.80. The item originally purchased for $17.00. You lose money dealing with this little company.
The original item was sent by VintageandCraftsCo, apparently a subsidiary of Etsy. They were hostile and argumentative when responding to customer emails. The company had sold and shipped a Corning Ware item that lacked the lid without stating in the ad that it would be sent "incomplete--lid missing."
You can find just about anything you could possibly want on Etsy. I had heard of them before but just never bothered to check them out until about a month ago and now I'm completely addicted!
The jewelry especially is just exquisite and the prices are very on par for what you're getting.
They can be a little expensive on other items but you really do get what you pay for. My only complaint is the crazy high cost of shipping through them.
Otherwise I definitely suggest checking them out, I'm certain you'll like Etsy too!
I have ordered four items from Etsy and everyone has been low quality, only two matching item descriptions. I really wanted a specialty item and the seller seemed very honest, certainly friendly so I took one last chance with the most expensive item yet. What a mistake! Ordered an item from Etsy in Nov 19th and didn't receive it until Dec 28th. Around the 16th it said shipped but hadn't moved by the 19th getting too close to deliver by Christmas so I asked he not ship it and refund the money. Etsy backs it's sellers, so he shipped it anyway. When I got it, it didn't look anything like the picture to me and Was TOO SMALL! There were no dimensions and no way to tell if it would fit, so I offered to pay to return it. After two emails went ignored, I tried to make a claim on Etsy's site, but it wouldn't let me complete it, so I left very negative feedback and filed a claim with the BBB. To get my money refunded will now take hours and I will need to file a claim with PayPal, then and I will lose close to 30.00 with nothing to show for it. Even if I get to return it, shipping here and paying to ship it back, will cost half of what Is paid for the item! In my opinion Etsy does not care about the customer and serves only it's sellers. I want to warn people now, so they do not lose their hard earned money during a time when most are struggling financially or lose their valuable time that could be spent with loved ones - NOT TRYING TO GET YOUR OWN MONEY BACK!
ETSY Support is non existent. I had a shipment that never arrived. While simple, the small business I bought from acted as if I was taking their house by asking for a credit. Accordingly I attempted to escalate to ETSY but found a convoluted "case" system where they would get back to me in a week. No worries I simply did a credit card dispute and received an immediate credit.
If you can't talk with someone to resolve an issue, go where you can get help (eg Amazon, Target, Kohls etc); a blind email such as ETSY uses may never get your issue resolved.
I see one of the worst aggregate review scores for ETSY in the entire industry sp it appears that my review is consistent.
I will give this etsy.com "zero" star, this is the worst and an untrustworthy e-commerce platform I have ever met. As a buyer, If you want to purchase something on etsy.com, you'd better pray your order item didn't lose. Otherwise, if the seller has shipped your item, but you didn't receive it, Etsy.com will refuse to refund you, the seller won't refund you, you will lose your money! This E-commerce platform is not like amazon.com which will protect the buyer's rights, etsy.com doesn't care about the buyer's rights. If you were treated unfairly by etsy.com mediation, no way you can further get help and complain.
I ordered one product on etsy.com on Nov 25th, 2020, but I have not received this item so far. I contacted the seller, she shown the shipped record and told me I need to open a case for mediation on Etsy.com to get a refund. I opened a required refund case. After 11days, the mediation team has replied to me with an email, they reviewed the case due to the seller has shipped, etsy.com will close the case. The mean is that I won't get my refund. I can't believe this, the consumer purchased something online and didn't receive the ordered item, then the buyer cant gets a refund? Are you kidding? The tracking record of the post office has shown the stuff has been shipped, but very clear as well, without any delivery out records on post office system, the buyer has not received the ordered item, this is the truth! This is not the buyer's fault, why the buyer has to be suffered the loss?
etsy.com's unfair mediation behavior has harmed the rights and interests of consumers , I will report to BBB.org complaining to etsy.com that if I don't receive a refund.
It was perfect. Because you can find every thing you need it.
On line shop with Etsy is perfect.
And has very good service customers.
It is very important.
Thanks
Let's be real: etsy is no longer a real curated marketplace. Lots of foreign mass produced stuff is now on there. But if you're careful and read some reviews you'll find some gems. There are skilled artisans making furniture and other cool things on there out of glass, metal, wood, and more. One of the best places to look for a unique gift idea if you plan ahead and realize you're not usually going to get 2 day shipping like on Big retailers.
I was a seller. A customer wanted a return saying the item was incorrectly listed as small when it is an extra small. It was listed as extra small and that was easy to see. Etsy forced the return saying I did not have a "no return" policy on my account. I also don't have a policy that I will return for any reason (I lose money on shipping and the customer was claiming it was incorrectly listed... but it was listed correctly). Etsy forced the return and the customer did not return the product. Etsy then gave me the run around. Avoid.
I love to buy everything here. My tips: only buy with 4 / 5 stars review store. Shipping is fast. Payment is easy. I love to shopping on etsy!
So, I ordered an item from this website and when it hasn't arrived (after a month) I opened the dispute on their website but they just pointed me to PayPal (dispute still open). What's even worse they closed my dispute on their website before the dispute on PayPal was over and prevented me from pursuing this matter any further. On my emails they would just reply "how sorry they are, but can offer me a 50$ voucher on my next purchase". So all together they ripped me of for 200$ but offered me 50 back. What a nerv. Customer service 0 points. Never again ordering from these amateurs.
I've brought several things on Esty and I pretty liked them. I haven't had and dissatisfying problems and I hope I don't. I like the products on Esty.
We have had great success selling on Etsy. Our customers are among the nicest people we have ever met. Even dissatisfied customers were really nice and polite.
The few purchases we made all went smoothly.
It is important foe everyone to understand that when you buy on Etsy, you are buying from individuals and small family owned operations. Many of these sellers have no business experience or training. For them, the business, customer service and sales side is a learning experience. Sadly many of these sellers are also being misguided on various seller forums to be hostile towards their customers.
Yeah, Etsy has some warts, bad sellers and confusing policies but in general it is a great place to shop and a great place to sell your crafts.
Really good site to find new products online and easy to search what ever you need, much better then eBay
Etsy held my payments for four days. They kept telling me they were looking into it. Nothing happened. False promises, inaccurate information, no movement. I was a customer for five years with a few problems during that time. This is the straw that broke the camel's back. No longer will be a customer of theirs.
Answer: Check the reviews, and Google the seller. Also, are the reviews written in good english? Does it seem fake? Check pictures from the buyers.
Answer: I would have to say no, with LOTS of exceptions. In the past few years Etsy has allowed business to claim handmade if it meets certain criteria. I often see many items that claim to be handmade but I have seen them on Alibaba being sold in bulk. That being said I look very closely and have purchased some wonderfu items from great sellers. The biggest problem with Etsy is that they no longer protect customers from fraud (they say they are not liable) but in doing that lots and lots or resellers and counterfeit items have saturated Etsy' s marketplace. I would never buy anything "vintage" there. What I have seen you are getting thrift store rejects or modern fake. Buyer beware! Investigate all vendors carefully!
Answer: I am agree with Ramina. 90% is not hand made. All comes from Factories. When someone has over 8000's item don't you ask who made it. They are all over from Pakistan to turkey east to west up united state. Etsy is happy just to take your money and every 4 or 5 months closing one store to show off and if you have some money as a credit they take it too. No customer service, no respect no manor, they made policy just for FUN and they have FUN with our pocket. Stay far from them FAR FAR.
Answer: I agree with Steve J on this one. A lot of sellers on Etsy work from home in the evenings for extra money. Most of them are not big businesses with massive inventories so I would give them the benefit of the doubt. Give them a little more time and if they dont send it out then file a case with etsy
Answer: Business checking isn't necessary (the banks now charge a monthly fee for a small business checking). You can pretty much set up a regular checking account
Answer: I believe this depends on each seller. Etsy is simply a platform for sellers, and often does not have any direct involvement with orders short of processing the payment. Certain items cannot be returned for safety and hygiene reasons, and sellers can refuse to do anything other than exchange. Contacting Etsy may or may not change the results.
Answer: If you do, I would be cautious about ordering from international sellers, use a credit card in case you need to contest the charges, and do NOT expect ETSY do a thing if you get ripped off. They are useless and could care less once the sale is final.
Answer: I have bought a number of items through Etsy and with great success. I had only one negative experience and Etsy took are of that. I recommend Etsy wholeheartedly.
Answer: The best and quickest thing to do is to email the seller and let them know that you would like to return for a refund.
