The world's largest provider of online escrow services. Removing the risk from online transactions with our government licensed service since 1999.
Escrow.com garners mixed feedback from customers, highlighting both commendable service and significant concerns. Positive experiences often emphasize the professionalism and helpfulness of customer support, particularly during complex transactions, which many users found reassuring. However, a recurring theme in negative reviews points to frustrating delays in fund transfers and a lack of transparency regarding fees and processes. Customers have expressed dissatisfaction with the handling of refunds and the perceived incompetence in managing transactions. Overall, while some users appreciate the service for its protective measures, others warn of potential complications and inefficiencies.

For a company that deals with so much money and incredibly important transactions, Escrow are simply shocking. I work as a freelancer for a living and used Escrow when a client couldn't get access to the regular services. They were okay at first (if incredibly expensive) but then they messed up.
I couldn't get access to the transaction to mark it as complete. This went on for several weeks with no effort to fix it, they even lied to me and said they had marked it for me! A comment which they later rescinded. When I got in touch with the customer "support" they said they would look into it. A week later and nothing happened, except that I was severely short on my rent because a job I had completed 6 weeks ago, was still sitting stagnant.
I used them as a last resort, but I wouldn't even recommend them for that. Working with Escrow is tantamount to robbery and a kick in the teeth.
I used them on a transaction and got royally screwed. After shipping the merchandise to the buyer signature signed, the buyer decide to return the merchandise a week later claiming damage. On the return, the buyer didn't send the merchandise back signature required (as was required IN WRITING at the time). As a result, this $1000 merchandise was delivered and left out on a porch in the rain!
But hey, never mind if a buyer doesn't comply with the agreed terms of the transaction,
To add insult to injury, I also never even received a check for a refund on my shipping from Escrow (which was also written as required). Not that it mattered on this loss.
Stay far away from this crooked company. They backpedal when confronted with policy violations and like others have said, it takes forever to get nothing resolved. They are mainly interested in their fee which is almost always paid for by the buyer - who you think they are going to side with?
I have had hundreds of transactions online and this was the worst experience ever. NEVER sell any item through them or you're asking for trouble.
I used escrow.com when I was selling my wedding dress. I had to use it twice because it was sent to one potential buyer who ended up being too tall for it, as well as the lady who ended up buying it. Both times, the site worked very well and I felt very secure sending my dress, knowing that I wouldn't get screwed. I know that you have to do a cashier's check instead of a regular check, but other than that the transactions using credit cards, etc were very easy. I would recommend this site to any buyer or seller as a worry-free way to try and sell/buy something when you can't meet in person.
I sold my wedding dress through a website that recommended buyers/sellers use ESCROW.com. It has been a terrible prolonged experience. The buyer had to mail in a cashier check to ESCROW, rather than using a credit card. This added over 2 weeks to the transaction. After the sale closed, I never received a check. It is now a month later and I am dealing with an extremely rude and unhelpful customer device rep via email and I still haven't received my check. In the future I'll accept the risk of using PayPal.
I would NOT recommend escrow.com. Not only are their fees high, they take a ridiculous amount of time to process refunds. In my case, I returned the item I had purchased (because it was stained) and the seller received it 11 days ago... and escrow.com still has not send me my refund! I am already out the wire transfer fee, the shipping cost, and the escrow.com fee, and yet I still cannot get my money back from them. In addition, customer service is terrible -- they're based in California, but you may as well be calling India. DO NOT USE THIS SITE!
I have had a TERRIBLE experience with them. First of all, AFTER you have initiated a transaction and cannot back out, they tell you that in order to pay by credit card you have to fax a "verification" sheet with an image of the front and back of your credit card. This was extremely annoying and inconvenient.
Second, they somehow managed to mess something up in checking my info with my credit card company. I was told that the card had been declined due to incorrect security code. I was asked to "re-submit" the transaction. I typed EXACTLY the same information in the form, as evidenced by the fact that once I typed in the first number, the other two were there in the history of that form field because it is what I typed in before!
Third, customer service STINKS. The email responses I have received back about the problems with my transaction have been snide and rude.
I would recommend you steer clear of Escrow.com. There are plenty of other web sites that offer similar services. And I would certainly hope they are more convenient and offer more competent technical service and more polite customer service.
Answer: Hi David, we've processed just over $3 billion in transactions to date, with transactions from $100 all the way up to over $10,000,000. In addition to our regular licensing requirements, I hope you'll take a moment to look at the customer testimonials on www.escrow.com
Answer: Hi Janine! Thanks for reaching out! As the largest online licensed and audited escrow operator, Escrow.com is your best choice for domain transfer transactions. Escrow.com safely holds or secures the Buyer's payment in a trust account until the entire transaction is complete. That way, Buyers can be confident that the domain will be registered in their name and Sellers can be sure they'll be paid. We also have the concierge service for domain transfers without content where the Seller needs not to wait for the Buyer to confirm receipt and full control of the domain as Escrow.com will essentially take care of that inspection in your behalf. The Seller will only need to transfer the domain to one of our secured registrar accounts and we can release the funds to them. On the Buyer's side, they don't need the inspect period to verify the domain because we will do that for them. Our concierge team will work directly with the Seller to transfer the domain to us so there's no need for the Buyer to stress with follow-ups about the domain transfer. As soon as we secure the payment, the Buyer only needs to advise us where they want the domain to be transferred to and we will take care of the rest. Our dedicated concierge specialists will assist you every step of the way. Feel free to leave your contact details and best time to call as we are happy to discuss with you further should you have other questions. Thanks!
Answer: Hi Milly, I'm not sure I'm understanding your question exactly but Escrow.com only displays bank information on our site and never via email. Check to make sure any emails you are receiving came [email protected].
Answer: Hi Doug, start by making an offer to the seller through the AutoTrader.ca's Secure Payment platform. Once the offer is accepted you can pay into the escrow account and then go to inspect the car. If everything is as expected you can release funds to the seller right there on the spot. Two quick tips: Always make sure emails about your transaction are coming from [email protected] email address, and make sure you log into Escrow.com to make sure you're sending funds to the correct account. Hope this helps!
