eHarmony Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company is significantly marred by customer dissatisfaction, primarily due to perceived deceptive practices regarding refunds and subscription management. Many users express frustration over the lack of suitable matches and the prevalence of fake profiles, leading to a sense of wasted time and money. Customers frequently highlight inadequate customer service, with limited access to support and automated responses exacerbating their concerns. While a few users mention positive experiences, the overwhelming sentiment suggests a need for improved transparency, better quality control of profiles, and a more responsive customer service approach.

I signed up for a year of their service yet continued to be charged after the year was up even though I had unsubscribed only months after initially subscribing. This also happened to someone else I know and I thought it was a mistake on there part such that they forgot to uncheck some box in the settings. However, I am sure that I changed all my account setting to being unsubscribed and am now in the same situation.

I contacted eHarmony about this issue and received the same reply that my friend had. They said that they'd make a "special exception" and cancel future payments but they wouldn't refund what had already been charged. I'm referring to what they charged BEYOND the initial subscription I signed up for. When I asked them why I continued to be charged after cancelling my subscription, they said that they have an AUTOMATIC RENEWAL system in place. I saw no option to opt-out of this renewal when I unsubscribed last summer.

There may be details buried deep in their terms & services, thus protecting them legally, but it is also true that they have developed their settings to give users the false belief that they are unsubscribed when they are not. Then when confronted with the issue, they give a canned response and put the customer last. This was an intentional use of "fine print" to weasel more money out of their customers. I know a lot of companies do this but that doesn't mean it is right. We should all be fighting for a more just world and not contributing to the corruption.

I was refused a refund (hundreds of dollars) for services I didn't consent to, at least not knowingly. I also felt as if my concerns were belittled, ignored, and treated with contempt when they ended the email with "Your request has been denied. Thank you for your payment!" I want other users to be warned that subscribing to eHarmony will cost them more than initially agreed upon. If the service is worth that to you, that's fine. Otherwise, I don't think that eHarmony can be trusted to treat their customers with respect and care.

After reviewing eHarmony on the Better Business Bureau, I see that this is something that has happened to many others as well. I'd recommend that no one uses this site.

Do you like paying for a relationship before you even meet the person? If so, eHarmony might be right for you!

EHarmony is one of many online dating platforms that gives you a long list of questions that takes seven full years to answer and then sticks them into a software that uses its own 'algorithm' to match you with someone who is said to connect with you on an emotional and personal level.

EHarmony says that there is someone for everyone and that their website is in the top 5% for matching anyone. Oh, but they don't match anyone who isn't cisgender and is looking for someone else who isn't cisgender. So if you fall into that category, well, so sorry, no refunds!

While I do like cis sheilas to a degree, I was given a gift card of sorts to eHarmony before, and much like fist fighting a Kodiak bear to pass the time, I figured, 'Hey, what's the worst that could happen?"

Before I explain my results, allow me to say that I don't judge people on their looks as much as their sense of humor and intelligence. Besides, I'm facially challenged, so I don't expect to meet sheilas that look like Victoria's Secret models. That said, moving on...

The results I was given were people who lived nowhere near me, people I had zero in common with, people who made me long for the comfort of said Kodiak bear's claws, and a few sheilas looking for sugar daddy's. Seriously, people, I know I'm old, but I'm pretty sure those are sold at stores still, right?

Overall, I found that eHarmony was a waste of my time, and as with many webby's that attempt to hook you up with others, they fall victim to the same tasteless patterns as all other sights in the way that their algorithm is about as useful as braille on a stop sign on the autobahn.

I got to use the website for free, and I still felt ripped off!

Place for Scammers
July 31, 2022

I signed up and in less than 24 hours realized that I had made a mistake. I sent introductions to six women. The next thing four of them wanted to chat on a different platform "google meets" " whatsapp" etc. I contacted customer service asking for cancelation and refund. It took two days before I received a response. No refunds and even if I canceled they would require full payment of a one year contract. In my opinion eharmony site is as much of a scam as the majority ofpeople that use it. Another user beware site!
Save your money and find love elsewhere.

Ehamony will not refund even if you cancel it within the 3 days. They absolutely refuse to follow their own policy. I have contacted them numerous times and refuse to cancel and refund but ensured they will continue to take the money until the subscription s expires. My advice don't use a site like this.

ITS A CON!
July 24, 2022

Absolutely a con. Your only paying for an online psychological dating profile. So basically I joined and payed and after 3-4 hours of being a member I relized that most of the profiles don't have pictures. So I tried to cancel my membership. Thinking I was coverd by the fourteen day protection. They then said. OH NO! You still need to pay 65 GBP for the psychological profile. Don't give these people any money. They are criminals. Something should be done. Legally.

EHarmony fraudulently charged me. I had a 1-year subscription. I was so dissatisfied with this dating website that I took down my profile after 6 months. I also made sure to check the "Do Not Renew" button. I even went back to the website 2 different times after that to make sure my subscription status was appropriately checked to NOT RENEW as I knew that some of the dating sites will change your subscription renewal status. So, in June 2023, I was shocked when eHarmony charged my credit card for the first installment of $89.70. I then went on their website and my renewal subscription had been changed back to renew my subscription. It took me a long time to find the customer service phone # for eHarmony but I did finally talk to a CSR. They agreed to not bill me for any further installment payments. They refused to refund me the $89.70. I escalated my complaint up the chain & all I got was the stereotypical "blow me off"emails that continued to quote the renewal policy. I question if they even read the content of my response. If you choose to not renew your status on any dating website, make sure you take a screenshot of that. Although since eharmony has no problem committing fraud, that may not even work. Don't bother joining this dating website. It was a total waste of my money.

I joined eharmony on a special discount for 6 months. I was ONE DAY LATE to cancel the automated renewal payment for one year $718.00 charged to card. Tried to contact eharmony, no valid phone number available, tried 5 different numbers, none valid or answered. By email I offered to pay a month, not good enough for them Their original contract for the 6 months says they will notify you as renewal approaches, THEY DID NOT! Still no person to talk to. Sorry, I am older, do not know how to attach invoice.

Unfortunately, E Harmony does not allow users to pay on a month to month basis like their competitors which does not encourage one to become a member.

A few of my colleagues purchased a trial membership with unsatisfactory results.

In short, they had to prepay a minimum of three (3) months in advance which was over $60.00. After a month, or so, they felt that it was not a good fit and cancelled the membership as it automatically renews.

However, they, like countless others, were unable to receive a refund for the unused time.

Had I not known someone who had this negative experience, I would have been out of a good amount of money.

This site gouges its customers because it is ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!

Buyer Beware

Bad experience, normal matches if not worse. CS does nothing to help you if you want refunds or even if you want your own account deleted. I have emailed them 3 times, and they refuse to respond whatsoever. Might as well use a free /subscription-based service and then use this. Honestly, there is nothing here that any other dating site for free can offer.

Hindsight is 20/20. Right? I wish I would have checked reviews before wasting my money. It seems all of the match profiles are made up. Please don't waste your time and money.
And customer service does not exist. They do not provide any contact information.

Don't bother
July 5, 2022

I signed up for a six month subscription for EHarmony a few years ago, and quickly regretted it. For one thing, many of the profiles they display are people who signed up for a free weekend and never actually join the site, so you're messaging people who likely are not even ever on the site again- or are even fake profiles.

I got "matches" from people who lived six hours away from where I lived, as well as men who were years older than the ones I was interested in meeting. One message was even from a man who wanted me to send him money since he claimed he was in the Middle East in the military-RED FLAG!

I got one message from a man in my area that I thought I might be interested in, but he quickly proved too needy for my taste since he got really mad when I didn't respond to a message immediately. Believe it or not, I also got messages from men who had also previously messaged me on free dating websites! Many of the same men who are on free apps, are also on this one, so why bother with a paid app if you can get messages from the same men that you aren't interested in on a free platform?

I remember someone told me that the paid-for sites were supposed to attract a better quality of people, but believe me, that is not true. Not sure about Match.com, but this site offers romantic hopefuls a whole lot of nothing for a lot of money! I didn't pay a lot of money (thankfully) but I still got a whole lot of nothing out of this site.

As soon as the six months were up, I canceled. I basically had the date marked on my calendar, and was completely prepared for them to give me a hard time about getting my money back. Surprisingly, I wasn't given an issue and my credit card was never charged again.

I met my now-husband on a free dating more than three years ago. We now have an eight month old son, and adopted a dog. I guess if eHarmony had actually come through or offered any good or promising dating candidates, none of that would have even happened. So, thanks after all eHarmony, for sending me back to a free app so I could meet my soulmate!

Total scam.
July 5, 2022

Eharmony is lackluster and does not provide good matchs and their billing scheme is a scam. I cancelled my subscription back in may and was charged for june and now july. When i tried to get into my account to verify they locked my account and forced me to pay a fee and then still kept the account locked afterwards. Had to call customer service and had them delete my account and cancel my subscription which they still required that I pay out the remainder of the year. Do not use this service they will steal your money and provide nothing of value.

I joined at a very expensive price for 6 months as a man seeking another man. Right away, I started getting women included in my matches, and when I contacted customer service, they said it wasn't their problem--that those women must have inputted their profiles wrongly. Really? So many made the mistake? They also advertise a video date feature, but when I tried to use it, the person on the other end could not see or hear me. And there is no online help. You send a message into the ether and then someone gets back to you eventually--with little help. Many of the profiles that come up in matches are either fake or set up by someone who did not pay anything for them because they include no photos and strange profile info. In short, run away from this scam program! A complete waste of money.
