Compare to dish have old technology. Can't do other than turn the tv on and off and select a channel. When we sign up they were misleading and now we stuck with a two year contract. Also a lot more expensive. Cant wait to get out of it.

Three technician appts made, nobody showed. Thirty+ channels not working. Called customer service more than ten times, multiple online chats. Problem was escalated multiple times, I'm told something different every time I call, from "there is no technician available," to "your appointment was not approved," to "we guarantee the technician will call you." The technician who guaranteed someone would be here was Richard. I called back after waiting 3 hours for his call, was told they didn't know anyone named Richard. I am out of patience, and I want this problem fixed!

They lied
April 13, 2023

Was told by sales we could add a second line for an additional $7/,momth p lus tax. When we got the bill they added $10/month for an "updated receiver" for which we never asked. 2 days of calls to DirecTV with requests for a manager resulted in our being sent to AT&T Uverse which has nothing to do with our service. Each time, they had my friend so upset she suffered all day. Never trust them!

As I write this review I am on my 4th phone call and still on hold trying to open a new account...these employees are the worst trained I have ever dealt with. After not being able to complete the on line application I am told to call a number, which I did (still on hold 47 minutes later), they need to verify my credit, after giving my SS# 4 times, they call the bureau while I am on hold, approve my credit, and tell me they need the credit check one more time. Ridiculous...she know states she wants 3 credit bureaus and I'm 820 plus...UNREAL. Good luck Direct TV. You wont be around much longer.

I was told they can not send a technician out due to I have an account that only allows them to ship equipment to me. I have had this account since 2012 and have had enough service calls to know he is not telling the truth!

We were moving to a new home in same city. Called to get service moved. They rep said they didn't offer same satellite service at my new address. That we had to have Streaming…then the nightmare and double the monthly bill now because I no longer qualify for my promotion I had this year. What?!? Really?!? For their employee making this mistake costs a loyal customer money every month! Wow…after hours of frustration and phone calls, I'm going to be searching for a new provider

DirecTV faced a choice in January: Agree to start paying a monthly fee to Newsmax, a small right-wing channel that it had been distributing for free for seven years; or drop the channel and incur its wrath. DirecTV chose the latter—and Newsmax recast a simple business dispute as a shocking act of political censorship. Now Republican leaders like Donald Trump and Marjorie Taylor Greene are demanding Newsmax's restoration.

Disputes over these so-called "carriage fees" are fairly common. But in my two decades covering cable television, I have never seen anything that escalated like this. So I took a closer look at all the sides of the argument to assess what it says about the state of television, politics, and culture. The bottom line: DirecTV's decision makes total business sense, but Newsmax's emotional appeal trumps the other side's cold hard math—and it still may force DirecTV to cut a deal.

Here's how the math works. Cable, satellite, and streaming TV systems like YouTube TV sell bundles of channels – a model that was stupendously lucrative for the channel owners for decades but is now under extraordinary stress thanks to streaming powerhouses and other market forces. The bundle reflects, among other things, the cost of the channels wrapped up in it: High-rated channels like Fox News can earn several dollars per subscriber per month. Lower-rated channels settle for pennies, if that; some even pay the platforms for placement.

Generally speaking, the bigger your audience, the more you can charge; and conversely, the smaller your audience, the slimmer your odds of being able to command a fee. And Newsmax's audience is small: The number of people watching at any given time, according to Nielsen, is about 100,000. More than 50 other cable channels outrank Newsmax, including conservative powerhouse Fox News, but also minor players like VH1, Lifetime Movie Network and Sundance TV.

And Newsmax's big ask arrived at an awkward time for platforms like DirecTV. Over the years the monthly fees have risen so sharply that the entire bundle is at risk, as evidenced through year after year of reports about cord-cutting accelerating. I've seen it from both sides: When I was an anchor at CNN, a big chunk of my paycheck came from the monthly carriage fees charged by CNN's owner, but whenever I paid my Comcast bill, I winced and wondered if I should cancel cable.https :// in.pinterest.com/pin/**************/

We've had Directv since 2012 and I've had enough of the constant increases and nothing but the same shows on every day. Also, good luck trying to access your account statements online or getting an actual person to help you. I called today and they want to bill me for canceling before our contract expires in 13 months. They renewed my contract when lightning hit our box and I didn't even know anything about a renewal. It would have been nice to know, but not surprised. I am paying this early termination fee just to be done with them. They are a sinking ship.

Billing
March 18, 2023

I had Direct TV through AT&T in Middlesboro, Kentucky. I canceled my cable with AT&T on August 19,2022. They said since I cancelled in the middle of the billing cycle they would prorate my bill. After that I got another bill for the rest of the billing cycle. I called in and they said all I owed was $17 and something and it was mailed to them immediately. Well, today I checked my credit report through credit Karma and found out that I was sent to a collection agency for $71.00. I talked with Alex in Wireless Service, who transferred me to Honey in Technical who transferred me to Hershey in Billing who transferred me to her supervisor Mae who told me I would have to pay $89.17. This is ridiculous.

I had the worst experience with AT&T Direct Tv company do to lack of customer Service including with supervisor. I was requesting Pro-rated Service Credit refund since I cancel my service before next billing cicle. The Company charged me the full month of service. I was a loyal customer never missed a payment, making payments over $200 a month. This company are thief, instead of helping people to save money they steal. I will not recommend this company to no one. Horrible Company.

Had a service appointment window from 12 to 4. It wasn't until I call to inquire about the appointment when I was informed that it had been cancelled. No one thought it was important to let me know. The customer service representative, Lewis was inept and when I asked for a supervisor it took him over 30 minutes to find. The supervisor finally rescheduled but also was no real help. The customers time is valuable too. This was Directv in Jarratt, VA

DIRECT TV IS AWEFUL
March 9, 2023

Do not do business with Direct TV. They will charge you for services that you didn't have. I canceled my service on December 5th and they told me that they would prorate the bill. They keep sending me a bill for a whole month of service that I did not have. When I called them to talk to them about it, they refused to reduce the bill for December. They ended up adding additional fees for pay-per-view after the service was canceled. This company is a bunch of thieves. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM.

After two weeks of lengthy holds and phone transfers, I finally went to the Direct tv store where I signed up 6 years ago and asked him to cancel my cable. He told me I must phone to deactivate. See my opening sentence. He said he could do nothing AND I must send my cable box and modem etc via UPS to an address he told me I must find on the website. The alternative being an additional $130 charge. When I left without their cable equipment, he followed and as he hollered "don't leave your s.t here", he threw the equipment about 15', landing in the parking lot. I've cancelled my auto-pay thru my bank to avoid having any future problems with AT&T. Sebastian, Florida Buyer beware!

Over advertising!
February 26, 2023

Direct tvs over advertising is the cause of the Mass Exodus of its customers. And yet they steadily increase the amount of advertising sold. Coupled with miserable customer service it's NO surprise their programming has been severely affected.

Do better Direct TV, or AT&T whoever the hell you claim to be now.

Had enough
February 26, 2023

Long time customer finally had enough! Prices ridiculous. CEO could care less about the elderly. Had basic plan and internet went from 124 a month to 174 a month. Done, I'll save 1500 a year which is great for me on fixed income. Seniors should have a discount especially after being a long time customer. Plus the cancellation of newsmax and oan mad me mad. Tired of corporations forgetting how they got where they are! Adios direct tv! I'm out!
