I tried on multiple computers to register for their website and the process doesn't work. It also says Facebook does not allow registration with this site even though they have a button to do it.
If you call their 'help desk' the person says they will register you over the phone and asks for personal information and then sends you a "code" but won't register you unless you read that 6 digit code back to them. I hung up. THIS JUST SCREAMS SCAM.
Why would they need me to read the code that they sent to me back to them?
One of my least favorite duties of my job is warehousing, staging, pricing, and executing the sale/auction of item. It is chaotic, frustrating, and a lot of work! CTBids is very organized and they safely control every process. You win a bid, next day you get an email telling you how to pay. Once payment is made, you receive an email asking you to schedule a pickup time. Then you get an email letting you know the address. Everytime I have contacted the auction representative to ask a question, the exchange came with a quick, personable reply. I have had 3 different pickups so far and all were smooth. The only negative part to their process I have found is the auction will extend if a bidding war is in progress. You MUST be watching when time is running out and be prepared to up your bid even after the clock hits 0.
Overall this is fun site, run by pros.
For fun I like to find treasures on auction sites. I have some remarkable items that I retained for myself and others that I have turned around and sold for a very nice profit. Here is where CTBids fails miserably. The last time I was bidding on CTBids I had won a lot showing my high bid of $69 and 0 hours and 0 mins left for the bid. I closed my laptop and walked away happy that I had won! A couple of minutes later my phone alerts me that I have been outbid on the it I had won. I went on the site and sure enough another 3 minutes was newly listed on the lot. I was not pleased but I put in another bid and again won the item at $95.00 with 0 hours and 0 minutes. Same thing happened again and that was it for me. They will increase the time from 1 min to 3 min remaining if they think someone will keep bidding (which I do not think is the right way to conduct an auction and honestly that bidding until the last minute is one of the fun things about these online auctions. No other auction I know of practices this policy of increasing time. However to increase time when there was NO time left - smh. I am going to try some other sites that look reputable. This isn't the only thing that the management has trouble with as their invoicing process leaves quite a bit of room for improvement. Well, that's my 2 cents worth.
All three pickups everyone has been very friendly and helpful. Especially the wonderful lady over the Lake Norman-5 stars just for her. Great items. Not disappointed.
Over several years I have made approximately 58+ purchases from CTBIDS of everything from Persian Rugs, to kitchen gadjets, to furniture, to painting, to just about everything. I usually use Carlsbad LaJolla, Menifee, and Angeles Footills in California. Their descriptions are accurate, pictures hellpful and show faults, their personnel extraordinarily knowlegeable and helpful. I usually pickup (Carlsbad and Menifee) but if shipment is required (Foothills) they were quick and competent. Same goes for other sites I have purchased from outside of California. Very professional. Takes awhile to understand system. Have not used them to sell just buy.
My husband and I have been using CT bids for a couple months now doing their online auctions and purchasing items. Most of the auctions we've got good quality stuff and we're happy with the purchases but here lately it has not been the same. The pictures have been deceiving they show it in the best light and then we pick up the items and they're covered in rust broken and or don't work. We also think that they are up bidding items. One of the auctioneer Took us to a storage unit full of the items that they up bidder people on and won at their own actions because they weren't getting the amount of money they wanted for the items. That's the good part of auctions is that you can get items for cheap but if they're up bidding them it takes the point of online auctions away. My advise to anybody using CT bids is to not expect the items to look like the pictures they probably will be in much worse condition or may not even work and if the bidding is going to high stop bidding bc it could be the seller bidding up the item.
I recently purchased a item from Ct bids. I was new at online bidding and had a lot of questions. Lisa answered all of my questions in a timely manner. Her customer service was outstanding. She was honest and kind. I will be visiting her site in the future. I had a great experience. Thank you, Renee
Purchased many items from them and never had a problem. Shipment is always good and purchased some great items at excellent prices. Will do it any time! A+++++
Very bad and confusing bidding system! All items end in the same time! Web site need more work
Very confusing auction!
This was a hellacious time for us, and I am sorry to say they ripped us off on our final payment and never returned anything. They handled an estate sale for us. At first they made excuses and insincere promises. When that didn't work, they refused to call us back.
I have been asked by real estate agents, And told them NOT to use them, and why.
We could not access their website on our PC, mobile devices, and our laptop. Called CTBIDS they wanted to take our registration over the phone. Asked how do I bid when their website is disabled? Reply was: "once you register you can go online and start bidding." I told them I never give out my information over the phone; Thanked them and parted ways.
Somethings does not seem right!
They have their auctions with that good old boy mentality. I placed a bid for 250 on an item. Received email that my bid was accepted. Received an email within 60 seconds stating I was just outbid, by the same amount I had just submitted, 250. When I bid the high bid was at 205. I bid first but because I guess someone associated with CT Bids wanted the item, or a friend of the owner, i lost with the same bid as the winner. Now CT Bids will not accept a bid of the same price, it needs to be more than an existing bid. I got screwed because there was no bid at 250 except mine. Don't use them, they have some program or something to keep jacking up the price. Or they Jack you so they can keep it.
Contacted by Ms. Donnelly and all monies refunded. She totally redeemed herself. So I apologize and encourage you to use her sita
I bought some tile from them it said there would be 29 to 30 peices, when I got home there were 5 also it was listed I bought trim I get home it was a door frame! The responce I got was I should of checked my order its not his job! I'm sorry the count of flooring pieces and description is not matching what you have. Did you bring this to the attention of the pick up team during your pick up so the other pieces could be located for you? It is not my job to fix you mess up. That was the response I got! Awful just Awful! The mans name is Jeff FYI!
I tried to help Sarah Brown the local caring transitions franchise owner. Many items she cannot give make or model. Other items are supposedly 'as is" yet she has no problem letting you know they work in a private email. Of course that will not necessarily stand up in court. Judging by some of the bids on electrical goods someone has the inside track.
For me the worst was a Nazi dagger supposedly from 2 holocaust survivors. She was offering that little tidbit as a provenance. Its the old used car only driven by an old lady shill. When I sent her a picture of the exact same item as a replica she called me a troll. All I wanted to do was help her. Needless to say I will not be bidding there. If you give these people your stuff to sell, remember that the only way you will attain a maximum payout is if there are sufficient bidders. When I take my money away there will be less bids on many items. Now imagine many people doing the same. When you operate an online auction with no viewing at all then you risk your money. The trend is toward online and I agree, but if we find you have mislabelled shall we say, we deserve to get our money back. The auctioneer holds all the cards and knows all the info. Some poor schmuck just bought this item for over $200 incl fees etc and I can buy for $20 http://www.blowgun.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=742
Answer: You can't. Once you place a bid that's it. You can't decrease it.
Answer: CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ALMOST NONE EXIXTANT. IF YOU CANT COME TO SOME TYPE OF RESOLUTION WITH THE FRANCHISE OWNER YOU BOUGHT THE ITEM THROUGH... YOU MAY NOT GET ANY RESOLUTION UNLESS YOU TAKE THEM TO SMALL CLAMES COURT OR REPORT THEM TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. ALOT OF THESE FRANCHISE OWNERS BIT OFF WAY MORE THAN THEY COULD CHEW AND CANT HANDLE THE WORK LOAD. THEY THOUGHT THEY WOULD HAVE A STEADY BUSINESS BUT REALIZED AFTER THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE TO PUT IN A LOT MORE HOURS THAN EXPECT IT AND DONT HAVE TIME TO DEAL WITH YOU AND DEFFINITLY NOT YOUR QUESTIONS OR DISSATISFACTION. AND FORGET ABOUT IT IF THEY SCREWED UP AND ACCIDENTLY DONATED YOUR ITEMS OR PACKED YOUR ITEMS POORLY AND THEY BROKE DURING SHIPPING. YOU NEED TO BE CAREFULL WHICH FRANCHISE YOU BID WITH AND ASK QUESTIONS FROM PEOPLE THAT MAY KNOW. JUST LIKE YOU ARE NOW. I TRYED TO FIGURE OUT CUSTOMER SERVICE WHEN I HAD A PROBLEM WITH A FRANCHISE OWNER AND IT WAS A NIGHTMARE. THAT OWNER SCREWED ME. IT WENT ON FOR MONTHS. HONESTLY IT IS HARD GETTING A GOOD NUMBER OF THESE FRANCHISE OWNERS TO EVEN RESPOND TO YOU.
Answer: Not sure what you mean by less expensive... do you mean, to sell through them, or buy from them? It's auction, so the sales price depends on the item and how badly someone wants it! As for what they charge, you would be best to seek out a local competitor, as not all of the estate liquidation type companies are national. CTBids is franchised territorially, so the quality of their listings is dependent on the host.
Answer: VERY LEGIT. I GOT MY ITEMS QUICLY WITH NO PROBLEM WHAT SO EVER... I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THIS FRANCHISE
