ConsumerLab.com provides independent test results, reviews, ratings and comparisons of vitamins, supplements, herb and nutrition products to consumers and healthcare providers.
ConsumerLab enjoys a strong reputation among its users, who appreciate the unbiased, detailed information it provides on supplements and health products. Customers frequently highlight the site’s thorough research and reliable testing, which empowers them to make informed decisions about their health. However, some users express frustration with the frequency of email updates and recent login issues related to cookie settings. Additionally, there are requests for broader product reviews, particularly from popular retailers. Overall, while the service is highly valued for its quality and reliability, there are areas for improvement in user experience and communication.

ConsumerLab is my trusted source for quantitative reviews of substances that typically are not regulated. In addition, I rely on ConsumerLab for general and specific health related information, such as for Covid-19.
Have been subscribing for years. Great, thorough information - I find it increasingly helpful in the obscured, fad-driven world we live in.
Thank you, Alex. Glad to know that we are helpful to you.
I checked in with ConsumerLab.com regularly regarding masks, testing, vaccines.
Thanks Jim. Glad you that we've been able to help you navigate COVID!
This is the lab of happiness))) and a perfect supplier of herbs and a healthy way of living. The service is always on a high level. Thank you for a good job.
I always check the information and brand reviews on Consumer Labs before buying any supplement or product. I wish more brands would subject their products to your testing. I have suggested this to some brands I trust, but they have not followed through I guess. Wonder if you solicit brands to submit their products for testing? I would recommend reaching out to some reputable online brands.
Thanks for your nice review, Laura. We continue to work hard to provide reliable information. Yes, companies can voluntarily have products go through our testing and review through our Quality Certification Program, for which they pay a testing fee, although the majority of products that we review are ones that we select -- based on input from our readers, like you. As testing is expensive, when companies voluntarily have us test their products, they typically focus on a small number of their popular products.
I love the newsletters, they are informative, and well organized. I can easily see what is covered and click for further details if desired. ALso love the site, full of in-depth information.
Thanks very much for letting us know, Liz!
Consumer Lab does a great job of separating fact from fiction in the world of supplements. This is a much needed service as there are so many hucksters in this industry. Just to learn what is in a supplement is a giant step forward but to see an explanation of some of the science and testing of the efficacy of these products is priceless.
Thank you, Richard! That's exactly why we're here.
ConsumerLab is a great resource for me and my patients. It's my go to reference whenever I have a question concerning an over the counter supplement. I particularly appreciate the "what it does" sections that contain the most up to date research concerning the products common uses and scientific studies regarding those claims. Dr. Tod Copperman does a fantastic job reviewing products, testing for safety and highlighting the most up to date information regarding their uses. Consumerlab has also been a great resource during the COVID pandemic in regards to FACTUAL information about masks and vaccines. This is a fantastic subscription for the medical community and consumers alike - worth every penny! THANK YOU AND KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
Thank you for you kind words. Just so you know, we could not do it without our excellent team of researchers, editors, programmers, and other staff, and without the support of members you like you!
I always consult CL regarding health products and trust their analysis.
Thanks Arnold. Glad to know that you appreciate our work.
I generally applaud your efforts. But you fell short in not including more virgin olive oils- including Sprouts Cobram Estate California Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
I like to keep up with ConsumerLab reviews for the latest information that includes 'specific products'. As a pharmacologist with lots of regulatory experience, I still like to do my own research before interpreting results and drawing conclusions about product categories, but your reviews are a good starting place. I often refer friends there when they ask me for advice about their medical problems and treatments. While I don't always agree with the rather conservative conclusions and over influence of the most recent scary headline from the mainstream, I know that at least this advice won't get anyone into medical trouble.
Web site is easy to use when searching for a particular product.
Testing/reporting of safety and stated content of supplements is very important. I'm not aware of any other source of this information. Also, the reporting of litigation of worthless supplements (Previgen) is to be commended. Perhaps this service could be expanded to include requesting and reporting of nutritional content facts (% daily value) from makers of highly advertised products like Balance of Nature, who, apparently are not required to indicate this. Your reporting of the results of studies is also of great value.
Thank you for your very nice review of ConsumerLab.com and for suggesting an area of investigation.
I usually buy supplements based on your reviews. But sometimes when you do an update, that top rated product is not reviewed in the update, yet it is still available. What happened?
Hi Bill - As there are over 30,000 supplements sold in the U.S., each time we perform a new review of a category, we try to retest some of the top-rated products from our previous review, but we also test new products, particularly if they seem to offer advantages over previous products in terms of formula, ingredients, quality, and/or cost. As a result, there can be some change over time in the brands and products covered in a particular review. In any event, we understand that many ConsumerLab members would like to see continuity in the products covered, so we will continue to include most previous Top Picks (if still sold) in new reviews -- although there is no guarantee that they will remain our Top Picks year-after-year.
Bronson Vitamin D3 10,000 IU is your top pick for Vitamin D3 and I am very disappointed in your choice.
It is entirely unnecessary for a tablet to contain corn syrup solids, rice extract, potato starch and other fillers.
Also, there's no reason a Vitamin D supplement should contain three types of sweeteners.
Organic or otherwise, health-conscious individuals usually don't consume corn syrup or things like potato starch.
I almost purchased the product based on your recommendation without checking the ingredients list.
Also, it would be nice to have iodine nori products reviewed.
I do appreciate a lot a review on sardines; it shocked me that my favorite brand has so much heavy metals; thank you so much for your review!
I am a retired dietitian but still do consulting part time. I use Consumer Lab religiously. I have trusted Consumer Lab for years for reliable and accurate information. I have referred this resource to many other people including other health professionals. I personally use products and supplements they have recommended and tested. Consumer Lab was especially helpful during COVID with reviews of proper masks and myths regarding supplement use during this difficult time. I highly recommend this resource to anyone who is interested in keeping up to date on health and nutritional issues.
Thanks for your nice review, Kitty, and for referring ConsumerLab to others! We appreciate it.
Before trying a new supplement I always refer to ConsumerLab for their review and comments on it. They always tell me if that particular supplement contains what the label states and if it's safe. I have been subscribing to ConsumerLab for several years.
ConsumerLab doesn't shy away from warning if a supplement is harmful. They are often referenced by other companies for their reliable work. They exhibit
Integrity in their presentations.
Thank you, Max! We are very glad to hear that our information is helpful to you. We appreciate your membership in ConsumerLab.com.
We want to take supplements and vitamins to better our life. It is good to know that someone is trying to make the supplier and manufacturer honest about what they are selling.
I was having trouble with my ConsumerLab subscription and a knowledgeable, delightful person named Evelyn, over the phone, in real time helped me & resolved the matter.
What a gift in these crazy, isolating tines!
Thank you, Evelyn!
We're very glad that Evelyn, our Director of Account Services, was able to help you. She's being doing that (and a lot more) at ConsumerLab since joined us in 2005!
It's much more difficult to navigate when receiving email updates. Articles require signing in and once signed in it takes whole lot of effort to locate the article. It used to point you exactly to the update. Now you need to scroll through all articles to locate the right one.

Answer: There is no single best supplement or brand. It's best to focus on the type of supplement you are looking for, e.g., multivitamin, fish oil, probiotic, herbal) and read our Product Review for that specific category and see which product is our Top Pick for that category. Here is a list of our current reports: https://www.consumerlab.com/results/
