Both of my daughters have done their high school years here and have been very successful. The instructors and administrators have always been a phone call or email away and very supportive and responsive.
Our big family has different learning styles and needs, which have been exceeded by Lighthouse Connections Academy. The curriculum for our 2 children who attend LCA has been on par with and sometimes above the curriculum of the child who is in the traditional local school. The teachers, counselors and staff care about the students and their successes and challenges. We love LCA!
We love to hear that you love Lighthouse Connections Academy, Andrea! We hope you have a great remainder of the school year! ~Alexis
My son is high functioning autistic and his attitude, interest and success rate within his education has done a complete 180 after switching to connections Academy! His grades have never been better as well as his self confidence! I appreciate the time and effort that is being put into my son's education and we are here to stay through graduation! Hands down best decision we couf have made
This is so great to see, Kylie! We're so happy to hear that you've found a school that meets the needs of your son and allows him to reach his full potential! Thank you for sharing! ~Alexis
We chose Connections Academy this year because of the flexibility it offered. We travel A LOT and knowing that my student could get the quality education she needs while on the road/at times where we aren't working, was the #1 catch for us! Its made our school year MUCH easier!
We love that your family is able to travel and still get a high-quality education, Lizz! We hope that you continue to explore with your students! ~Alexis
Transferring from brick and mortar to connections has been great for my daughter. Being able to still have classmate interaction and the teachers being on LiveLesson and also study hall. She has flourished and I can't wait to see what this next year will bring.
This warms our hearts, Sunni! We're so happy to hear that your daughter is thriving at our school! ~Alexis
My family have a wonderful experience with
CONNECTIONS ACADEMY,
With technical support, teachers etc.
We're thrilled to hear that you've had such a wonderful experience with our school, Lorena! ~Alexis
When I was looking into online schooling, I was afraid that the curriculum wouldn't be difficult enough. I really enjoy that I get to be a part of their learning and can safely say that it is difficult! The lessons cover the material, and they are right on target for grade. The teachers communicate well and are really helpful in keeping my children up to speed. There are small groups and other helpful groups to cover material that they might be struggling with. I have already started telling coworker parents about it, and really think this style of schooling is the wave of the future. I wish we had it when I was a kid!
Thank you for your review, Raechel! We're happy to hear that you've found an online school that challenges your students and that you get to be more involved in their learning! ~Alexis
My son is doing so good mentally and academically since making the choice to be a part of this program! As his mother I am so thrilled to say the least!
We love this, Alisa! Thank you for taking the time to leave your review! ~Alexis
Our first year on an online platform. We transferred from traditional school to online at the start of 7th grade. Our child has so much more free and family time! She is so much happier and Honor roll!
We're thrilled to hear that your student has had such a successful first year at our online school! Thank you for sharing, Kim! ~Alexis
My son has thrived since starting with Connections Academy. He struggled in school when he attended his last school. He was constantly bored and not challenged enough. In addition, he would come home almost every day telling me about fights or someone bringing a gun or knife to school. A few years back, there was a student who was stabbed. I feel better and have peace of mind knowing that my son is getting a good education while also staying safe from the violence that became a daily occurrence.
Hi Dee, Thank you for leaving your review! We're sorry your son had a challenging time at his local school, but we're happy to hear that he's in a safe learning environment that allows him to reach his full potential. ~Alexis
My student loves this school and the experience she's had throughout the years here. The teachers are fantastic and deserve to be recognized for the support and encouragement they give to each student. They all seem to do whatever they can to help the students in any area needed. One on one is great. As with everything there are bumps and curves to adjust to however, communication with all those involved in the learning mages it an enjoyable time. Not perfect but definitely worth it. No bullying or harassment allowed. Respect is earned and given by all. Thanks for a pleasant educational experience that I know I'm grateful for in that my child feels comfortable going to school.
We love to hear that your student is comfortable going to school, Robin! Thank you for recognizing our hard-working teachers and sharing your experience! ~Alexis
We're so happy to hear that you've had such a positive experience, Junmer! Thank you! ~Alexis
Everyone is so understanding and willing to help and they always get back to you.

Tecca experience has been a blessing for our family, specially when you have a child in need. They will work with you to make sure you are conferrable and have everything you need. I recommend it.

Connections Academy has been an amazing choice for us. Our family is truly blessed to be part of such an amazing school! Two of our children have graduated from Connections Academy. Both are finishing their first year in college! Lipscomb University and Western Kentucky University. Our last child is a freshman in Connections Academy, we look forward to three more exciting years. Thank you Connections, absolutely the best of the BEST!
This is incredible, Patricia! We hope your two college students are doing well and hope your freshman enjoys the rest of their school year this year! ~Alexis
He was doing so wonderful thanks to this school, their teachers and staff. If I had to do over again, I would do it the same way. They meet his needs for education, he looks forward to going to school.
We love to hear that your student is doing so well at our school, Mark! Thank you for leaving your review! ~Alexis
We have been in MNCA since 2020. We originally moved over because of the uncertainty during Covid but 2 of my kids have chosen to go again every year since. One of my kids did dcoose to to our local district school and chose to go back to Connections the next year. I love the flexibility and the level of involvement I am allowed. It really is the best fit for us.
This is great to hear, Angela! We hope that your students have a great rest of the school year at Minnesota Connections Academy! ~Alexis
Best choice for our daughter, other than a charter school. Questions we had were all answered. Enrollment was easy. Teachers & Counselors are great to work with. The website for parents & guardians is easy to use. Our daughter is very happy choosing this school. Extra curricular activities outside the school have been creative. The variety of clubs vary & lots to choose from. Thank you for providing tjis online school service!

Flexible time, no more bullying, great teachers, excellent communication,
Thank you so much for leaving your review, Miriam! We appreciate it! ~Alexis
This is our 2nd year and our 1st year was better but we're still going to stay on for another year and see how it goes. The Language Arts this year, has had an overwhelming amount of work and I just think it's been way too much for 7th graders. Also the frequency of benchmarks is ridiculous, I really do not think they need to happen as often as they have this year. The amount of portfolios required from every class, has been a lot more this year as well and I just think those are unnecessary as well.
Thank you for your feedback, Janna! If you haven't already, please reach out to your student's teachers if they are feeling overwhelmed with their schoolwork. We never want our students to fall behind or feel like they can't keep up. If you would like us to connect you with a staff member, please email us at [email protected]. ~Alexis
Answer: Work at your own pace is the biggest lie out there. Supplies are usually quick to arrive though.
Answer: That is a very good question Dee. We were drawn in with that promise as well. They use exampmes of child athletes and child actors (at least they did when we were going through their website looking for schooling options) as examples of how flexible their program is but we found it to be a very different experience.
Answer: Do not put your child in this program i hate it i switched to connexus i could get more time in the gym and work out i used to spend five hours in the gym in normal school but now im only limited to one hour a day because i have so much work.the teachers never respond and its horrible they dont help me and when im at gym they call then i cant i pick up so they call my parents who are at work and will get in trouble if on there phones. I hate tis school and everyone in it and your kids will to so DO NOT DO IT! 1111
Answer: Attendance is more important to the school keeping it's Charter, than making sure a student is truly on track academically. The School has no communication skills, which is why it probably attracts lazy teachers.
Answer: I find that people take the time to vent about bad experiences rather than take the time to write reviews for good experiences. If things are working, why scour the internet for reviews. Every kiddo/parent will have a different experience with Connections Academy. Like any school program, it's not going to be right for everyone, not everyone will like a teacher, or administration or class... It's a rigorous school, not a homeschool program with lots of flexibility and curriculum that can be changed. It's working for my 7th grader, but it is hard and we wouldn't be enrolled if he didn't have me to sit by him 80% of the time. Otherwise he's getting an excellent education in Oregon and we love the teachers.
Answer: Yes, you can do you your at any time. I start at 5:00am and finish at 11:00am.
Answer: Maybe once a month. The student might get a phone call from his or her homeroom teacher on a monthly basis. Other than that, unless you or the student contact the teacher individually, then the interaction is done as a whole in the Live Lesson rooms. And so much outside stuff goes on during Live Lessons, the students do not get a lot out of them.
Answer: Hi Tina, Teachers schedule LiveLesson sessions (usually one per subject per day), and other work is done independently. Teachers are available outside of the virtual classroom for more support if needed. Outside of the LiveLesson sessions, work is done independently, and students can typically complete their schoolwork any time of the day, any day of the week. ~Alexis
Answer: Hi Malorie, Teachers schedule LiveLesson sessions (usually one per subject per week), and other work is done independently. Teachers are available outside of the virtual classroom for more support if needed. In general, there is no set time to log in outside of the LiveLesson sessions, so students can typically work any time of the day, any day of the week. For information specific to the school(s) in your state, please email us at [email protected]. Thanks! ~Alexis
Answer: Hi Monique, Many students with special needs thrive in online school. Can you please email us at [email protected] so we can connect you with the Special Education team in your state and also provide you with additional eligibility information about the school(s) in your state? Thank you! ~Alexis
