This was my first time using movers and it went rather well. My sales rep was very nice and friendly. Colonial checked in frequently throughout the process. They do employ contractors so be advised of that. Pickup and drop off went rather smoothly. There was minimal damage and all my items arrived. They did pick up and drop off within the given windows. Overall was a decent experience.

There was a misunderstanding which was resolved to my satisfaction. Thanks Donna and CVL. Harold was awesome.

They're cheaper. All my items were packed in amazon-style boxes before the movers arrived. The only things that weren't packed in boxes was my electric bicycle (arrived in good condition) and a DIY wooden table. The table leg was broke off from base, so all it required was a couple nails. My dishes arrived in-tact. Reaching for some criticism (which is what reviewers love): black grease was covered on the edges of my boxes. Probably from being under the truck. When the Colonial Van Lines service representatives call, if you accidentally hang up they will get angry at you no matter how much you apologize, then refuse to call you back after a week. Other than that, very standard, run-of-the-mill moving company. If you want above and beyond service from any mover, id highly suggest buying a U-Haul and doing the work yourself.

I used Colonial Van Lines for a move in NorthEast USA. NJ to MA. They were great to work with. Very professional. They kept me informed the whole way. Careful with floors (sneakers, Pneumatic tires, cloth wrapping of furniture during move). Pricing was comparable or better then competitors. I had 3 "guys" on the pick up side and 2 on the delivery side. All very professional and clean and caring. Some slight dings on sheet rock that could not be prevented due to obstacles/dimensions of stairs. I highly recommend Colonial

Move from Brooklyn, NY to Stowe, VT. Crew was on-time, organized and no issues. Items were delivered to VT one week later within delivery window.

They cancelled our move without telling us, they refunded our money and told us sorry we overbooked. We sold our house and had to out we had to rent a Penske truck and load it in one day, we had to give away furniture, exercise equipment, a bike. All because of Colonial and their inability to schedule moves and meet their commitments. I will write about this experiment ever solute I find and tell everyone I know. What colonial did disgusting and I have never dealt with such a unprofessional company ever. How Donna Is the "resolution" specialist is beyond me she did nothing.

Moving from another state and putting your things in storage is very stressful. The packing up crew up north was a nightmare. If i'd known I was getting a sub contractor and not the actual Colonial Van Lines truckers I'd probably cancelled. Up north the guys were arrogant and rough with our belongings. After 5 months in storage I wasn't sure that I'd get anything back in good shape. After having to change our plans and destination, the coordinator assigned to us was not very helpful, not answering emails or phone calls. I had to call the people that took my original order/ information and somehow we got delivery on the date we asked instead of the runaround that there was a 10 day window. We lucked out by getting delivery actually the day before we wanted. The crew they sent was 2 wonderful young men from another subcontractor " The Moving Squad" Tauris and Demetrius, two awesome guys! They were polite and proficient. We were so pleased with them. They are aces up in our book.

I am updating my review. Still no word from subcontractor and still no chair. However, Donna from Colonial finally got involved. While overall, I still am frustrated that things took so long, I am appreciative to Donna and Colonial Van Lines for stepping up and doing what they could do to make things right. While it is impossible to replace a missing, antique chair, I feel that that the resolution offered was fair and reasonable. In the end, I respect Colonial for standing behind their service and their dedication to resolving this situation. That is what I believe matters the most.

I hired Colonial Van Lines and had a horrific moving experience. The staff is unreliable, disorganized and dishonest. I absolutely do not recommend Colonial Van Lines.

I moved half way across the country. The guys showed up on time the day they were supposed to. I had already packed, so it was load and leave. There was a LOT of boxes, heavy boxes, furniture, some odds and ends (like garden tools and the rack for my car that I had removed to have a quieter drive, but everything was gotten, nothing left behind, and everything showed up at my new residence, nothing was missing. I was 1,000 lbs over what had been estimated, but I expected that. I was just glad it wasn't 2,000. The driver arrived at my new residence several days after I did (again, I expected that, they were clear about his routing, and stayed in communication with me throughout the trip). The driver and his support team were cheerful, hard-working, transparent, thorough, and accurate. Couldn't ask for anything more. I would use them again, for sure!

I would not recommend Colonial Van Lines. They damaged ~$600 worth of items, and they have stated that they never received the claim paperwork that was submitted. At this point, I have broken items that will go into the trash. Look elsewhere.

I spoke with a supervisor today (July 8,2021) around 9:15 AM MDT, and she was able to verify my job ID, and informed me that she could not find any record of my claim. Additionally, the number below in your response, I called, and it went to a voicemail.

I called and spoke with Kelly Furlong and she GUARANTEED me a truck and driver the last weekend of August 2020 before the closing on my home, I gave two and a half months notice and 40% down. I was alone and stressed already after a traumatic divorce and they were a NO SHOW? I had to scramble and figure something out, rent a uhaul hire the Loading Zone which ended up being a real life nightmare and then hiring another company to move me across the country which was also a nightmare. Colonial Van Lines took NO accountability, they OWE me for hotel, storage rental and damages I incurred due to having to hire thugs thanks to them. I had buyers, a broker, realtors, my ex breathing down my neck like this was my fault! A woman named Donna from Colonial Van Lines WAS corresponding with me until I dropped a number $ and flat out stopped replying to me until I recently posted a BBB complaint on them. What is wrong with these companies?

The owner, Aldo DiSordo, is very unprofessional, doesn't pay his bills, and is prone to use extremely vulgar language when corresponding with females. I would love to include a copy of the email as proof but it would be against guidelines due to the vulgar language.
