If I could give this awful app a 0.00, I certainly would. Having to give it a 1 star rating is painful. I could write countless examples of how incredibly awful it is. It's nearly impossible to get even the most simple and polite message thru. It's literally a trap and scam by definition. It's keeps those using it in a dark and non healing place with its ridiculous and continuous rejection of messages, and then tries to shake you down for more money as a result of having to send multiple messages just to get them through. Do not use this app! It has been used as a weapon against me, resulting in much lossed parenting time with my two daughters. It's garbage! I don't even know how it's possibly legal and used by court system. There are countless stories online of how awful it is.

Terrible Platform
February 26, 2025

Extreme censorship, double standards and not at all effective. Zero customer service. Impossible to get any help. This platform actually makes communication between parents more difficult and less effective. Worst service ever for people already struggling.

February 24, 2025

This website claims to offer many features, however the support and assistance is so bad that it makes it nearly impossible to use for what it's meant to do.
Not only that but if you want to close your account, they won't! Ha. You're trapped

They make it impossible to co parent difficult topics without getting lawyers and the court involved. Medication issues, mediation; counsel disagreements, mediation; pros and cons for school, mediation…
Then you start disliking eachother for litigating, then court and lawyers. This app is the most expensive choice you will ever make. Oh and they pass off legal advice as hourly non lawyers in coaching aka isnt that illegal?!? I can't believe no one opened a class action lawsuit yet, this company is a slam dunk win for malpractice suits.

I am writing to express my deep concerns regarding the Civil Communicator app. As a former user of the app, I feel compelled to share my experience in the hope that necessary improvements can be made to prevent others from going through similar distressing situations.

I found that the app actually exacerbated the conflict with my abusive ex-partner instead of helping to resolve it. I was shocked to see that extremely abusive messages from him were allowed to go through, despite their harmful nature. When I attempted to address his abusive and controlling behavior, my communications were rejected under the guise of him "simply asking a question." This blatant disregard for my safety and well-being only served to escalate the situation further.

Furthermore, the app had access to sensitive information such as our parenting plan, the CFI report, and discussions related to my ex's criminal case where abuse was evident. This lack of privacy and security was deeply concerning, especially in a situation involving abuse and control.

As a result of these issues, I was forced to incur significant expenses in attorney fees to transition to a different platform once our contract with Civil Communicator ended. It was clear that my ex's primary motive was to maintain control over every aspect of our communication.

In light of my experience, I firmly believe that Civil Communicator is not only ineffective but also potentially harmful in cases involving abuse and conflict. I urge you to reconsider the functionality and policies of the app to ensure the safety and well-being of all users.

Thank you for taking the time to read my concerns. I sincerely hope that the necessary steps will be taken to address these issues promptly.

I got court ordered to do civil communicator I recommend everyone fight to not have to do it it's a garbage parenting app. Customer service refuses to answer your questions then they'll ban you for inappropriate comments just for asking where they get their training from to be able to work there. Still haven't got an answer and it's been a month. That was an inappropriate comment according to them and it prevents me from reaching out to my ex-wife to get any information about our daughter. I didn't know customer service had that much authority because if they don't like you they'll just ban you and don't have to answer any questions. Worst app of all time the owner of the company wrote a bunch of fraudulent checks out of her ex-husband's account so the company was started by a felon. Is parenting application causes more conflict and harm than it does anything else no good comes of this horrible company it's garbage I would leave zero stars but I had to put one

I have contacted customer support as I've been limited to 1 message per day. This doesn't allow ample enough ability to message to come to an agreed exchange, conversation agreement or any other matter.
I've messaged them more than 5 times in regards to this specific question without response.

Never fall into using this program as it will disable your communications to whom you're speaking to. In my case it is a co-parent. They're enabling her to control the conversations. She can say she doesn't want to discuss a subject any further that is a co-parenting topic. Any messages thereafter discussing the topic it rejected. This will add more stress and strife to your relationship to whom you're speaking to.

Promotes more conflict
February 6, 2024

There is no way you could improve in your communication through this app. It's literally a jail monitor for your words. It's their interpretation of you without any clue what you really trying to say. You get rejected and suspended - welcome to divorce round 2 and you get to pay $395 for writing 7 messages a month and pay more if you want write more.

Totally ridiculous and very expensive for what you get. Conversations are limited to 5 daily credits and their main goal is to get more money out of you. They do this by constantly rejecting you messages and making you resubmit it, only to get rejected again. They are totally against the guy and make him communicate on a first grade level, while at the same time they are allowing the woman to be aggressive, condescending, and controlling. They have no clue about your life or situation, but yet they are a gatekeeper on what info can be passed along. They will also suspend your account at anytime if they don't like your message. You basically have POS people on the other end who have nothing else to do but feel like they are in control. Reminds me of how police act. They are better than you and you are scum. If you like that treatment then this company is for you. If you like to be treated with respect and save money, I would recommend using any of the other court approved program. Please check out all the other reviews on Yelp, Google, Sitejabber, and anywhere else. All are negative reviews! Don't get scammed, waste your time or money with this HORRIBLE POS company! Check out their 60% rating. That's a D- on reviews from customers.

First off, I would give 0 stars if possible. This company only allows 30 credits per month and 5 credits per day. This is very restrictive to begin with, but they will keep rejecting your messages to burn up your daily limit. It's a scam to keep you paying for additional credits. You can draft your messages within their guidelines, and they will still reject with no reasoning. You don't have to cuss, be degrading, condescending, etc. to get your message rejected. They also try to be God almighty on what information THEY think should be passed along to your ex. This POS company/reviewers will even correct your grammar and reject messages based on that. You better have a degree in English to deal with them. They don't provide any help even though they say they do, their customer service is horrible and you can't ever get ahold of anyone, they are way overpriced, and all around just the worst parenting program out there! Try Our family wizard, Talking Parents, etc. Any other company but this one. Remember, their goal is to make money, so they reject 80% of your messages, causing you to spend more to purchase additional credits. Lastly, check out all their poor reviews on Yelp, Google, and Sitejabber. These reviews are your warning!

STAY AWAY!
January 31, 2024

I would select 0 stars if I could, but I wasn't able to. This is one of the worst parenting programs out there! They are grammar nazi's and will reject messages on that basis. They reject many messages, so it will force you to burn through your daily credits. They know nothing about your life or situation, but yet they act like they do by dictating what information is passed along and what isn't. If you give any push back on your rejected messages, they will just suspended your account. There is no customer service and their coaching is bull$#*!. If you read the examples on their website of their rejected messages, it makes sense. But when you start doing business with them, they will reject a majority of your messages just so you will burn through your 5 daily credits just trying to relay 1 message. They are a SCAM and not worth even wasting your time with. Try Talking Parents or any other of the court approved programs that are out there. I've used a few other programsthat are out there, and this is by far the ABSOLUTE WORST one! I'm surprised they are even able to stay in business. Dont say I didn't warn you to STAY AWAY!

Worst communication app
November 8, 2023

No customer service, no way to address anything, if they reject or revise your message- you cannot do anything about it. They control what you say and how you say it entirely. You will spent more time on figuring out how to follow the outrageous amount of rules to write one sentence and then, if you get rejected 3 times, - you are blocked from sending any messages. So, you pay $400 to get bullied and criticized and make your already tough situation even worse.
It should be named Hostile Communicator app.
My ex and I went back to texting and regular email and actually able to communicate better than through this jail app.

Very biased website
October 16, 2023

Allows my ex ro send any message to include confrontational and clarification messages. Consistently blocks my clarification questions and points back to the message. Instructions are confusing and not used when reviewing messages. Unless ordered by the court, do not use this website because they side with the most left thinking of individuals.

Title sounds weird?... I know. Hear this though. I initiated the use of the Civil Communicator platform, and my initial experience was outstanding. I requested its approval and got it included in our orders as a required method of communication. This was particularly crucial as I was ending an abusive relationship, and my co-parent, a narcissistic attorney, thrives on manipulation and combat.

Despite my successful use of the platform, I reached a point where I asked the courts to remove the requirement of using it, and their response quickly took an unfavorable turn. They provided my co-parent with an unsupported affidavit alleging I was aggressive and conflicting, despite my review report showing zero threatening messages.

While Civil Communicator does serve its intended purpose, it's marred by employees who seem to thrive on drama and are willing to engage in it. They've even gone so far as to call from their personal phones to gossip about my co-parent and their communications.

The concept behind the platform is commendable, but its execution leaves much to be desired. The mentioned affidavit should raise significant concerns, although I'm not inclined to escalate the issue. My hope is that this review can help someone else avoid the challenges I've faced with this platform. Additionally, the predatory billing practices of this company are another concern, making it advisable to seek alternatives if possible.

Don't Use
September 12, 2023

We used their services for a year and found on many occasions that inappropriate actions were taken by their reviewers. I requested an action plan of remediation, and notice of ramifications for those involved with the unethical, unprofessional, and inappropriate behavior allowed. Later I found that there were only two reviews and one is a felon. Don't waste your time or money on this site.

The absolute worst site to use. There is ZERO effort to improve relationships and 100% effort to reward the person who pays the most to Control 100% the other party. This site only cares about money. And was started and I believe is owned by a felon.
This site helped a violently abusive ex gold digging wife who admitted in writing she wanted her ex to die but to give her money so she can live a good life. This site helped this woman completely destroy and alienate her ex husband from the two children; actively helping to block two children 100% from their kind medically disabled father. This site blocks his efforts to get information about the children and allows for her to demand endless amounts of money while never answering but responding with rude flippant evasive condescending answers so I know nothing about the kids.

This site should be shut down and the owners should be financially punished and sued for the damages done to Im sure hundreds of innocent children and spouses

A narcissistic co-parent's dream app
May 19, 2023

In psychology, there is a term called "flying monkeys" to describe the enablers of narcissistic abuse. That's what this (non) communication app is in a nutshell. Absurd revisions of communication, word choice is limited to a toddler's vocabulary and outrageously overpriced. It essentially locks down the ability to communicate in an effort to protect the co-parent in hiding from the reality of their abusive behavior. Avoid and avoid any professional who recommends it.
