Hello, Firstly I want to state that i am not paid for this review. I believe citadel servers is a great host, they go out of their way to help you, which i can fully appreciate when i have questions or issues. I have rented a counter strike server and a ark survival evolved server from them so far and both have exceeded my expectations.
Had a problem with Outlaws showing up on steam. They refused to fix it and stole my $20.00 refused refund, they said they would give me a credit. What the@#$% would i do with a credit. We argued, The have deleted my account and like i said stole the money.
They are thieves. Stay away. Low.MS works, Nitrado works, Ping perfect works.
This is the best hosting provider I have used so far.
Monthly fees for separate game servers renting are also quite interesting, if you think there are cheaper providers, yes, maybe there are, but the support level will not be as good.
The performance of my games is excellent, although I have to say this source games are older than 10 years, and the server latency is also on par, I get around 30 ping from the UK with the server located in Germany. There are payment options for having extra performance, I guess you need them for really busy servers & power hungry games, not my case.
I am happy with the basic package plus games running smooth on SSD drives, and they provided me with fast redirect (fastDL) even on a game that was not supposed to have it included.
TL; DR - absolutely horrible for people without strong IT skills and background knowledge of the intricacies of any game that you want to host.
Their marketing is set up to be just technically correct enough to not be fraudulent, while still incredibly misleading unless you have an IT degree.
I'm IT literate, but I don't know much about servers, so I attempted to outsource this through Citadel. I signed up for a don't starve together server, and was charged. Easy enough. However then in setting up the server (no simple task) and reading through the knowledge base, I realised that to be able to play the full game, i actually needed to rent two servers to be able to access all content in the game at the same time. Raised this with 'customer service', and was basically laughed at for not knowing that 'hosting a game' doesn't necessarily mean hosting the entire game at the same time, and that i should somehow know that this game requires two servers to run.
If you've had a lot of experience setting up servers before and know what you're doing, they may be ok, i wouldn't know. If you're not an expert though, and just want to play games with a few mates, or set up an account for your children, I strongly advise you look elsewhere.
This company is a scam. After several weeks of trying to cancel their (not working) services, each attempt was met with a reply of "you have to cancel it yourself". After finally figuring out how to cancel the service (the option wasn't there because you can't cancel until AFTER you are paid up), I randomly get an invoice nearly a year later. They randomly attempted to reopen my services and charge me for it without my permission. I sent them a ticket as soon as it happened, and was told "cancel it yourself" once again, despite them illegally attempting to bill me for a service I did not order.
I decided to give citadel servers a chance after a friend referred me and i am very happy with the service received, support is fast, server has everything i wanted ( i ordered minecraft) even has a live players feed, first time i've seen that. I'd highly recommend them.
I've been hosting my server with citadel servers for almost a year, when I bought my server I knew nothing about hosting a Minecraft server and it was a pretty easy place to start. They respond to tickets very quickly and the server runs smoothly, i needed a feed the beast mod for my server done and they added it for me to their game panel as a one click, so if your looking for a host that goes the extra mile, then give these guys a try
When things go well and there is nothing to resolve they are an oke provider. But when the customer care department has to resolve things they fall horably short. I'm still waiting for my money. If you want a server with good speed and good customer care. Please look a bit further because this provider just does not care and the speed was meh.
They don't like it when you want your money back (for services they did not even provide) so they just deleted my account. Now i can't login anymore or communicate with them.

Unbelievable. I would have refunded if i could. These scumbags dont deserve one penny from you. Save yourself some grief and get a different host.
Bad support, even worse server stability, and the worst anti-consumer policies around. The only nice thing I can say is that support is quick to reply. They're quick to tell you they won't refund you even if your server is constantly either laggy or offline. They're quick to change your server in ways that completely puts it offline until they see fit to undo their changes, however many days that takes. They're quick to ignore what you say, copy and paste a reply that has nothing to do with your issue, and close your ticket.
There's no excuse for this in 2018.
Paid for server dayz mod server at CitadelServers.com. It didn't work right from the beginning. It could not be found by gametracker or dzlauncher or any other means. Reinstalling the game server with the 1 click reinstall made matters worse. Support is done by email and after about 3 days of very unproductive back and forth I gave up.
When I asked Citadel Servers for a refund and to cancel my account they said no. They would only credit me. I explained that I had not been able to use the dayz mod server at all and am canceling so a credit would not help me. They still refused to refund.
I have now signed up with another server host which worked out cheaper and works even after clicking install mods.
However am still out of pocket as Citadel Servers would not refund for a faulty service.
TL; DR- We've had a server for all of 4 days and we've been almost completely ignored and had our account suspended for "overdue payment" when we just paid for it 4 days ago.
I and several of my friends decided that we wanted to start a server together for a game we all like to play. We looked between CitadelServers and PingPerfect. Citadel seemed to be the best choice so we went with them. We started an account May, 28th and almost immediately had problems. We contacted Support and they did get back with us within an hour, but they were unable to fix the issue and said they would have to ask the next person on shift if they knew how to fix it. We waited until the next day and then asked for an update. Someone apparently used our Techs account to let us know that he had suffered severe allergies and was in the ER during the night, but be in that day to finish up the issue... And that was the last message we received from them. We've spent the last 3 days trying to get updates and finally just asking for a full refund. So, either our Tech Support guy died or they are purposefully ignoring us.
We opened up a separate ticket to Billing asking for a full refund for lack of service and within an hour or 2 that ticket had been merged with our other ticket with Support, but still no response on either. And now, as of today, our account is suspended for "overdue payment". We have had no refund sent back to the paypal account and we paid for a month on the server.
Ive literally never had worse service before in my life and I will never recommend CitadelServers to anyone ever.
I have ordered gameserver and I paid for it. Guess what happened next. The server was not delivered, after few hours I made a ticket about returning my money to my paypal ( they have 3 days money back guarantee which is a lie). Guess what happened. They stopped commucation with me. I made a dispute on paypal week ago and it is still not resolved, because Citadelservers.com is not reponding. Afte all Citadelservers deleted all my tickets from the night I bought the server from them and I have no copy of them, I would like to share it here.

Wow where to start as they are so awful in all aspects Tech Support and Billing.
As for tech support it takes 24 hrs to respond, This is acceptable but they will respond usually with some dumb response that doesn't resolve the issue and then when you reply back that the issue is still not resolved they ignore you and close the case after 3 days for no response. They where the person who didn't respond. I had to re-open a ticket twice because they did not respond except for the very first BS reply. I finally got help after opening multiple tickets complaining about the horrible support. In Billing, Sales and Abuse before they resolved the issue.
Now for there billing tactics, When I signed up their system insisted I pay in British pounds. And I accepted. Well after the vote on Britain leaving the EU the pound dropped. So they figured the best way to handle a drop in revenue was to wait until my pre-approved payment went through and then immediately suspend my account saying I owed them money. I checked my paypal and I had payed them on time and the exact amount we had agreed on.
Well when I inquired what was going on they stated because of the drop in the pound they needed me to pay in US dollars sure it would still work out around the same in Canadian. The issue was I got no notice and was blind sided with this then my server was held in ransom until I payed them more, after I had already payed them in the currency the originally asked for. It took me three weeks to get this resolved. They finally dropped the extra charges for the month as long as I change my billing over to US which I agreed to, but I had payed for a full month and only got less than a week out of it, They refuse to compensate as there attitude was it wasn't there fault the Pound dropped. Well it wasn't my fault either. That is what happens when you pay in international Currency and it was their decision for me to pay in the Pound so as far as I was concern that was risk to take as I am sure if the Pound had gone up they would not of refunded me the difference.
So stay away from them.
They have live chat but only for sales (they call themselves support but they can't actually help with anything). Tech support needs to go through their ticketing system, where they'll answer you in their own sweet time. Still waiting for a response! There's no guaranteed response time for tickets, and the only actual humans I managed to talk to refused to even give an estimate. I paid $30 for a dead box.
I bought a Ark survival evolved server for me some of my friends through GTX Gaming, but after a lot of issues, I switched to Citadel Servers and they have been better in every way, great support, lag free server, lots of features, even upgraded to clustered ark servers, A+ Would recommend them to anyone

Answer: They may operate a company, but they run it like a scam. If you have any issues don't expect a great response or resolution. PayPal disputes was the only way many have been able to hold them accountable.
