So long story short, it's been over 6mo. And I'm out of $50 without any recourse. Needless to say (although I'm only 1 person) they've lost my business.

Answer: Return policy is a joke, they don't honor it. They'll offer discounts and partial refunds until the return window runs out. If the window runs out just do a charge back. Most credit card companies will side with you due to them not honoring their own return policy.
