Chewy's reputation is marked by a strong dedication to customer service, with many customers praising the company's compassionate response during difficult times, such as pet loss. Positive sentiments frequently highlight the quality of products and the ease of the auto-ship option. However, several reviews express frustration over order cancellations, misleading promotions, and delivery delays, indicating inconsistencies in service reliability. While many customers remain loyal due to positive experiences, the recurring issues with customer support and transparency suggest areas for improvement to enhance overall satisfaction and trust.

My 100lb English Labrador requires Benadryl which is an over the counter drug. I sent them a prescription for 50mg/500 count back in February of last year. I received it, used it and went to order more. They refused to fill the order without a prescription. When I asked why since it is OTC, I was informed that they require dosage even though the prior prescription had dosage on it. My vet, although not happy, complied. Chewy accepted the prescription but cancelled my order for 500. Apparently, I can only order 12.
After many years of great service from Chewy, they were sold and decided to change shipping methods. FedEx has destroyed this once great company. After years of pleading, contacting Fed Ex and Chewy via phone and emails, signing onto Fed Ex account, speaking to FedEx driver, we are no longer physically able to retrieve our packages from wherever FedEx chooses to leave them. We have contacted Chewy several times about this issue and they no longer seem to care about their customers, simply stating, "they are sorry..."
I bought a dog bed recently from chewy (one of many purchases I've made) and it turned out to be too small, so I tried to return it in order to get a bigger one. Instead of having me return a brand new unused dog bed, which would have been extremely easy, they refunded my money and told me to donate the bed. As a dog parent and animal lover, THIS IS AMAZING. Maybe other people won't think that's a big deal but shelters need all the help they can get. This says a lot about them as a company.
Just got off phone with customer service (LOL) who sent my dog's meds to wrong address. Then they asked me to drive to wrong address to get it. When I said no I wouldn't they gave me the runaround and blamed me for the error. Funny thing is, this was one part of a multi-med order. The other meds arrived on time at the correct address. Hmmm... how could that happen if I put in wrong address? Chewy has been permanently deleted from my vendor list.
1 am an animal lover and owner of birds, ferrets, cats, and dogs...chewy has been my go to, supplier and over the years their customer service has been perfect - they showed their loyalty to me as their customer in big ways. It's one of the rare companies that actually cares about who they do business with.
I got two dozen roses on the passing of a pet and a current order refunded and they told me to donate this order to someone that can use it.
I was speechless and I will never use anyone else. Thank you Chewy it meant so much
My account was disabled cause they surprisingly decided to stop shipping to a forwarding company after sending 6 orders to that address.
I ordered a bag of dry Purina one, and 2 cases of pedigree wet food. I was living in Florida. I had returned to Illinois. I phoned in my order so I could personally tell the order taker my correct address. As you may think they did not change the address. Okay so now I call and they tell me they cannot pick up the misaddressed package. They want me 1200 miles away to get it donated. Then they offer to at no charge to me send a replacement to the correct address. Then I tell them another package is on the way, they say they can reroute it. Alas same situation the next day. Delivered to the wrong address. Again I have to find somebody to fix their problem. Again they offer to send some to me for free. In the meantime I've spent time on the phone to fix their screw-up and had to go buy food to carry over while we waited for our replacement. Then 2 days later I see I have been charged anyway. I call and am told they didn't mean completely free they meant the replacements were free, I said if you thought I was going to pay in any way or shape for a replacement you are nuts. I had to call people in Florida 1200 miles from home to fix your screw-up and after 3 specific times I called to make sure you didn't screw-up the delivery, and you did anyway. My solution is DO NOT USE CHEWY EVER AGAIN.

For example, Purina brand (the most common dog/cat food products) do not fall under this category. Found this out by placing order worth $200 and getting only $2 discount (expected $10). Called customer service and they explained, that the only item that gets 5% discount in my order are treats.
I am completely amazed by chewy.com's philanthropic approach. I accidentally ordered 4 chair covers. When I tried to return two of them, I was told, "If you believe the FurHaven Waterproof Non-Skid Back Furniture Protector,... could still be of use, please feel free to donate it to a local shelter or rescue. We'd be happy to know that it's going to help pets in need." I thought I misunderstood, but I didn't. Chewy did not want a return; they wanted me to donate to needy pets. I have never heard of a business doing something like this. Maybe it is cheaper to have the customer keep an item rather than pay for shipping. I don't know, and I don't care. This is a great idea.
A few weeks ago I called Chewy to place a order. I was crying telling the young lady Alisa this was last order with them. Our fur baby Zoey was going to be lucky if she lived to winter. The doctor's found a heart mumor for 1st time. She was just through her annual exam no problems. I ordered wet and dry food (she only had dry before) and treats and 6 month supply of her meds. We received on a Wednesday. She was gone the next day. I called Chewy to tell them I was donating her food to our local animal shelter. What could I do with the medicine. (I didn't know at the time about chewys donation program). I wasn't looking for a refund but they refunded everything! The next day we was so surprised to a delivery man with a beautiful bouquet of flowers from them. Then I sent a email to Chewy thanking them. We received a heart felt personal message. I didn't realize that there was companies who still cared deeply for their customers. It warms my heart what they did. But definitely gives big companies a heart they didn't have to. Please order your pet supplies from Chewy! They care!
I got a package today from chewy I wasn't expecting. It was a portrait painted of my bunny for national carrot day. They don't know, but she passed 8 months ago. It's one of the most thoughtful gifts from a company I've ever received. Thank you from the bottom of my heart
I tried to order a cat tree from chewy today and got an email asking me to call a number to verfy my order. I called the number and they were asking for the last 4 of my ssn, the address im having it shipped to, my billing address and all sorts of other things, so I cancelled the order and am going to walmart to buy the same tree. Ive ordered from chewy before, and NEVER had to go through all that. Not interested in dealing with that again
I've been a long time Chewy customer. I have auto shipments delivered on time to my residence for all my pet foods & pet supplies. Great pet care products at a great price. Very reliable delivery & they have the BEST Customer Support live staffs 24/7. Highly recommended!
Chewy used to be a good place to order pet food and supplies from. However, within the past year or so, it has gone downhill drastically! Items are always out of stock, they send expired and spoiled food, the coupons advertised never work, false claims, etc. Plus shipping takes a week now and no longer the 2-3 days as they say. Be advised to stay away from this company!
Chewy will not refund a subscription that may have been forgotten. They do not give you a reminder so you can cancel an old order you may have placed. Horrible customer service and rude at the same time. Order was sent to an incorrect address and no longer able to retrieve it. Amazon is the only place to order from. Never again Chewy! You lost my business and everyone else I know.
Unfortunately the 1-3 day shipping promise has become a joke, and the prices have risen higher than Amazon. Worse, I was not informed of the doubling of time for delivery until two days later. For some reason they are shipping now through Texas, the other side of the country, and everything gets F**ked up in Texas so I have unfortunately had to cancel my autoships and will be ordering elsewhere until they can get back to being professional.
Chewy claims 1-3 days delivery. I am on day 5 and it has not left the warehouse. Why is this happening
I have been with Chewy for nine years. Twice, Fedex delivered my order to wrong address. Driver transposed address numbers. I called Chewy and they sent me another two cases of prescription food AT NO CHARGE! Told me if my original order shows up to keep it! Can't beat that with a stick! Their customer service is always great. No selecting a number from keypad to reach a department. A live person always answers to help. Always cheerful and friendly. They should train other companies out there about great customer service!
For year and from friends I had heard so many great stories regarding Chewy's customer service and it seemed too goo to be true until I ran into a tricky situation where they were more than happy to help. It's very obvious that they equip their team with proper training and give them enough authority to extend courtesies when they see appropriate. I have been and will continue to get all my pet food/supplies via Chewy.com
So I ordered some food for my dog on chewy. After a couple of days I checked on the order since it hadn't arrived
I line in the Pacific Northwest and chewy ships out of Kansas
Wanna guess where my order went?
Florida… yep apparently if you want to get product from Kansas to the Pacific Northwest the route now includes a trip to Florida
Contacted chewy cuz I couldn't believe they shipped my order 3,000 miles in the wrong direction
Their customer service SUCKS massive
All that they could say is weather delay is the reason my order has not arrived
Nobody there would take responsibility for the fact that they sent the order to the east coast instead of the Pacific Northwest
All they kept saying over and over was delay is weather related do they won't do anything for me
No replacement order no trying to help
Just weather delay … apparently chewy has hired airline customer service people so they can blame their incompetency on weather
Well I canceled my order and never ordering from them again
I started out just concerned about my order but their unbelievably awful customer service made me so angry I will never do business with them again
I am sure my order is probably on its way to Canada before going to Mexico…. Seems to be how chewy ships their orders these days
Answer: No trouble at all. They have the best customer service/replacement/refund practices I've ever encountered. By all means, contact them again if you're having an issue.
Answer: If you are having trouble returning an item, call Customer Service and ask them to assist you. My understanding for returns is any item can be returned, even if it has been used you may return it within 1 year of original purchase. Their Custom Service is available 24 hours, 7 days a week. So, if you work odd hours you don't to wait until Customer Service is available.
Answer: Because they make it a point to lie and deceive their customers... I will NEVER use them again!
Answer: Ever thought of reading the FAQ posted on EVERY SINGLE COMPANIES WEBSITE to answer your own questions? Companies post these FAQ's for a reason. Too bad people are too lazy to read them. Then you scream at the reps you speak to due to your own stupidity levels in NOT READING A COMPANIES POLICIES. FYI it is a CONSUMERS RESPONSIBILITY to read those policies as the company already knows their own policies. FYI shipping from the USA to Canada cost customs fees and taxes which are NOT refundable and if you chose to return an item you will will incur these fees again and YOU are responsible for paying for them not the company you do business with. International shipping also requires proper documentation to get packages through customs. Not every USA company has the man power to deal with this enormous amount of work nor do they wish to deal with the headaches involved with shipping outside of the USA. How so many of you Canadians do not know this information is mind boggling.
Answer: Because they have free shipping over $49. It is FREE OVER $49.
