Chewy's reputation is marked by a strong dedication to customer service, with many customers praising the company's compassionate response during difficult times, such as pet loss. Positive sentiments frequently highlight the quality of products and the ease of the auto-ship option. However, several reviews express frustration over order cancellations, misleading promotions, and delivery delays, indicating inconsistencies in service reliability. While many customers remain loyal due to positive experiences, the recurring issues with customer support and transparency suggest areas for improvement to enhance overall satisfaction and trust.

I wish I would have read these reviews before choosing Chewy to order my dogs prescription thyroid medication.
This company will talk in circles while getting nothing resolved. I ordered my dogs prescription July 5th and it is now July 13th and the prescription still has not shipped. I contacted my Veterinary office thinking they had not sent the authorization yet they informed they had. Chewy is still telling me they have not, yet my vets office was able to prove to me they had not only faxed the prescription, but also sent an email which they cc'd me so I know they did in fact send the requested information.
My vet then needed to call Chewy and see what the issue is. My prescription now says it is being reviewed by Chewy and my dog will be out of medication thanks to their slow and incompetent customer service. I did let Chewy know I was running out of her medication.
After this prescription ships (and only not to inconvenience my vet office and to reduce wait time) I will be be canceling my automatic dog food order as well as her prescription.
I would rather spend my money with a company who seems to care about my pet and who actually looks into the issue before sending an inaccurate response.
If you look around online their are other places who offer the same pricing as Chewy, yet much better customer service.
The emails below were received AFTER they had already received the prescription.
You get all the support you need... when you order. But! When you try to find out about your order, when they tell you what day it will arrive... $#*! you is what you get!
As a new customer to chewy pharmacy I am very disappointed. My fur baby has CHF and due to high med prices through the veterans they recommended I try chewy. Medication from my first auto refill was missing, and I received NO notification from Chewy Pharmacy that all three meds my pet is on has to have a new scrip everytime the meds are refilled. I am very very very disappointed with Chewy Pharmacy.
Our 12 1/2 yr old doggie died of a liver tumor and we forgot to cancer auto ship. They said to keep or donate and sent flowers. Who does that. I'm so impressed and will give them my business
My whole reason for joining Chewy and enrolling in autoship was to save money. They offered 5% discount on autoshipped purchases. Somehow that policy was changed and none of they items I have been purchasing qualify for autoship pricing even if autoshipped. Apparently only some items have autoshipped pricing. I have canceled my membership because locally purchased are less expensive. I mean what's the purpose of being a loyal customer if you are not getting a break. Disappointing
Long story short... my dog's prescription for dog food lapsed while I was out of state due to my mother's death. The vet denied my order and stated my dog needed to have an annual exam. After a lot of miscommunication, Chewy resolved the problem quickly and, the next day, I received the dog food... AND a beautiful bouquet of flowers with a lovely note regarding my mother's passing! Defiantly a customer for life here!
Chewy went out of their way to fix my problem. My order included a liquid pond chemical as well as a variety of dog and cat food and litter. When it arrived, I found the pond chemical had been crushed in transit and leaked all over the contents of the box. Apparently, FedEx reboxed the contents throwing all of the items into a large plastic bag, further making worse the problem with several of the cans of food being smashed. When I called customer support, the agent went out of her way to correct the situation, including resending the entire order which arrived the next day! I couldn't ask for better help and support! Thanks Chewy!
Do not use unless you want to be waiting for days for your order! I had to cancel mine after five days and I'm very disappointed with the service I had heard so many good reviews about it and I'm never going to order from here again. Not able to leave a Minus star if not I would!
I ordered my cat's regular prescription food thru Chewy. I received a confirmation email that my package was delivered. I contacted the delivery company who emailed me saying they accidentally dropped my package off at a wrong address. I contacted Chewy who told me my package was still in transit. Well it's been a few days and Chewy has not sent me my order and their phone number on the website does not work.
CHEWEY.COM IS NOT A SECURE WEBSITE! THEIVES HACKED INTO MY ACCOUNT AND STOLE MY INFORMATION TO SHIP OVER $300 IN GOODS USING MY PAYMENT METHOD ATTACHED TO THE ACCOUNT! NEVER USE CHEWEY
We have ordered out dogs prescription food in an autoship from Chewy for years. The level of service had always been stellar and we have referred many people to them. Recently our dog was diagnosed with Cushings. The medication is $200 a month from our vet vs. about $140 from Chewy. Ordered the meds and the order sent to the vet showed a FL address. We, and our vet are in NC. The vet could not fill a script that was supposedly being sent to another state. I called three times and each time was told that the address the company showed was indeed a NC address however each time they sent the order to the vet a FL address appeared. Asked to speak to a pharmacy rep and was transferred to Tricia. Tricia clearly was annoyed as she came on the oh in and verified the order. As I tried to explain she interrupted and told us "there is no FL address on file so I don't know what your vet is talking about." I told her that a rep from our vet was online with us to try to help solve the problem and she yelled at me and told me "she didn't have to do a conference call and could help me when I could help myself." She then kept threatening to hang up. I finally told her to do so and she did. I could not believe the level of service that she offered and nor could the vet- tech. Fortunately, Pet Co offers the same products we need for both the meds and the food. They offer the same autoship option and the prices are identical. I choose where to spend my money and I choose to spend it where customers are treated with some semblance of respect.
They gave me the hardest time for ordering something in my daughter's name with myyy debit card... Took weeks... Eventually I said screw it and cancelled... It's not that serious... Amazon, petsmart, petco... Any is a better option
Chewy's dropped the ball on my prescription for my cat. I ordered his medication on June 8th, my vet verified that they sent the fax back on the 9th, but Chewy's made no attempt to contact me that something was wrong or that they never received the fax. When I contacted Chewy's on June 16th, they went ahead and faxed a new request on the 17th of June, but then went ahead and cancelled my order today, the 20th, because they didn't receive the prescription. 10 business days to rectify this situation but they didn't. I had to place a new order, and this time I had my vet reach out to them to get his prescription over to get his medication.
I love ordering from Chewy. Everything is fresh and arrives in 2-3 day. I have two golden retriever puppies, so you know we go through a lot of food.
Every single time I order my dogs prescription dog food and treats there is a problem! NO ONE ever contacts me about an issue, I have to call them. I have now sent his prescriptions 3 times, and some how they always end up missing. Someone isn't doing their job., it's so frustrating that I have to constantly dig through a pile of papers find the prescriptions resubmit them re-email them… All because they're not putting it under mine and my dogs profile… I can no longer get his dog food or treats from the vet that he goes to… Considering the fact that it is a prescription dog food and treats I can't get it from Petsmart either… It's so annoying that unfortunately I have to continue to get it from here… I will be contacting my vet immediately when they reopen tomorrow hopefully some other veterinarian locally will be selling his dog food and treats so I can just patronize their business instead of this one!
Dabbled with Chewy pre-pandemic but started using them for all my cat food when it was becoming difficult to shop in person. I never had a single issue until a few months ago when they sent me some of my order but neglected to tell me half my cat's food was on backorder. They just cancelled that and sent the rest. When I called they offered to ship me new stuff but wouldn't give me the discount or free shipping that comes with the autoship i had set up. Since then they've started screwing with the prescription food fulfillment. Every time I order I have to upload the prescription. On my most recent order I had to cancel one food variety because they wouldn't ship it and the vet refused to write another prescription until I bring the cat in... all this for non medicated food? OK, rules are rules even if "prescription" pet food is a grey area. The kicker on this particular order is Chewy did ship the other prescription food and then the next day sent an email saying I needed to upload a prescription. When I called (for at least the 5th time... 2nd in 3 days) they have a bunch of excuses, make a bunch of promises and in the end, I'll have the same problem when/if I order from them again. I always heard their customer service was awesome but now that I've had to use it I think it's awful and I've about decided I'd rather pay the extra few dollars and pick up my food at the local box store. I can't believe I'm to the point where the box store is the better option.
I used to like Chewy and would let slide some details like cans that came damaged because I live in the 3rd floor and liked the fact that the packages were delivered in my doorsteps… Unfortunately this stopped happening in my previous delivery when my husband found the packages by the stairs in the parking lot in the 1st floor. I contacted customer service and got a "I'm going to talk to the UPS delivery person"… not reassuring, but I gave a try since they're using a third party and the person assigned to perform the delivery may have been sloppy that day… Unfortunately I was wrong again and found my packages in the parking lot again today… I cancelled all my autoships and don't recommend Chewy to anybody that leaves in an upper floor. If you're leaving my packages in a common area, at least give me a courtesy call.
Their customer service is wonderful. Shipping is incredibly fast (I think someone drives it to us overnight from the warehouse - it is crazy fast). The product range/variety is great & if something is out of stock, they will let you know when it is back. Spenser & Dakota (R. I. P) would have me shop no where else and Endeavour, Buster & Coltrane would revolt if I tried. They are, simply, pawtastic!
I am extremely disappointed in the time it took for me to receive a vital prescription for my dog, Cloe. I placed an order on May 31 and I was due to receive it June 12. It finally came the next day. And that is only because I called to find out why it hadn't shipped yet. That's 13 days, not 1-3 days for meds as it states on their website. They held up my order of Enalapril, a vital medication my dog needs for her high blood pressure and Glaucoma, because of another order for another dog that is non-vital. I suppose they were trying to save shipping costs. As a result, I completely ran out of the medication waiting for my delivery. This medication is essential for for my dog's survival. I called twice and have written them three times. I got responses such as sorry for the confusion, I understand your concerns, and thank you for your feedback.
I have used Chewy for years. I can get dog treats in 48 hours, but forget getting medications.
I have removed all of my dog's future medication orders since I have lost all confidence in Chewy's ability to deliver them in a timely manner. I have switched to a more reliable source.
So thankfully for all work you do. I've been with Chewy for over 8 years. Customer service always been so helpful with picking right food for my German Shepperd.
He recently passed away and Karen K was so kind and caring.
Thank you for sending me flowers. It made my day!
I am so thankful for your customer service they are always going beyond!
Thank you!

Answer: No trouble at all. They have the best customer service/replacement/refund practices I've ever encountered. By all means, contact them again if you're having an issue.
Answer: If you are having trouble returning an item, call Customer Service and ask them to assist you. My understanding for returns is any item can be returned, even if it has been used you may return it within 1 year of original purchase. Their Custom Service is available 24 hours, 7 days a week. So, if you work odd hours you don't to wait until Customer Service is available.
Answer: Because they make it a point to lie and deceive their customers... I will NEVER use them again!
Answer: Ever thought of reading the FAQ posted on EVERY SINGLE COMPANIES WEBSITE to answer your own questions? Companies post these FAQ's for a reason. Too bad people are too lazy to read them. Then you scream at the reps you speak to due to your own stupidity levels in NOT READING A COMPANIES POLICIES. FYI it is a CONSUMERS RESPONSIBILITY to read those policies as the company already knows their own policies. FYI shipping from the USA to Canada cost customs fees and taxes which are NOT refundable and if you chose to return an item you will will incur these fees again and YOU are responsible for paying for them not the company you do business with. International shipping also requires proper documentation to get packages through customs. Not every USA company has the man power to deal with this enormous amount of work nor do they wish to deal with the headaches involved with shipping outside of the USA. How so many of you Canadians do not know this information is mind boggling.
Answer: Because they have free shipping over $49. It is FREE OVER $49.
