CheckPeople.com presents a mixed reputation among its users. On the positive side, many customers appreciate the quality and accuracy of the background checks, citing detailed reports and useful information that can be difficult to find elsewhere. However, significant concerns arise regarding deceptive billing practices, with numerous complaints about unauthorized subscription charges and difficulties in canceling services. Customer service experiences are often criticized for being unresponsive or overly focused on upselling rather than addressing issues. Overall, while some users find value in the service, the prevalent negative feedback highlights a need for greater transparency and improved customer support.

I was tryi to look up an old friend and after paying for this service, found out they couldn't find the right woman! Don't waste your money!
They scam you with the $1 5 day trial buy immediately charging you $29.15 and $6.99 if you want to be able to print anything... I tried talking to customer service and was rudely hung up on so I called again and wasn't treated so nice or helped at all about getting my $1 refund I alsonasked to speak to a manager and was told i couldn't speak to one!... All of the information they had was inaccurate 100%!
DO NOT USE!
Agent I spoke with was great. She was very understanding and helped me with an issue I was having. Wish every place I called was as professional.
I used the Check people only one time and paid the service immediately online for that use. After the first time using, I went back to the website (dashboard, account setting), cannot find any subscription information. I thought it's not subscribe service. But later on (on the May 1st) they charged me $29.16. Then i have to call the customer service/care to cancel it, but they don't refund this new sub fee for May. Terrible scam on their website, too many hidden info.
Was very happy, when I called in to ask some questions, with the level of service I received. Polite, efficient. Thanks!
Said I violated do's and don'ts which was bull$#*!. I was searching phone numbers. That's all I was doing. They did refund my money but they blocked from ever getting on this site Don't trust them. They're liars. Probably scammers
Check people are such liars! They have taken almost 100.00 out of my account in less than a month! Don't fall for their 1.00 bull $#*!! It's people like this that make the Internet so bad! They are too dam lazy to work so they sit on their $#*! and steal it from the ones that do work! How sorry can one be!
I started a subscription in January 2022. I had searched for a few friends and relatives. I had forgotten about the subscription for a couple of months so called in April to cancel after seeing the charge on my bank records. I contacted customer to cancel was offered a couple of other subscriptions for different prices I declined I found their information extremely outdated. The gentleman stated he canceled my subscription and I would have access until May 8, a couple of days later a friend came by looking to find a phone number for a friend I went to the website and didn't have access. I called customer service they told me I had to email the service department for assistance, I emailed them and they sent a response back saying I was BANNED for breaking the rules! I couldn't believe they were actually giving me this BS reason! I asked for them to explain how I broke the rules... told them it's funny I didn't have a single issue until I canceled the service. Eventually they processed a refund for the full amount. I'm still waiting to hear how I broke the RULES?
The background check listed multiple people that had no relationship to search. If you put a name in to search they scam you and say when you do this you agree not to request your refund. The search was absolutely useless, but they would not return the charge. DO NOT USE, THEY ARE A SCAM.
The representative that I spoke with was very helpful and solved my problem with ease! Thank you so much!
Check people is absolutey a dam scam!
I was offered a free people check on there website so I decided to check myself after giving them all my info they then wanted a credit card for there deceptive offer I declined it.
I now receive messages saying I have just been arrested & hurry up and pay up
Absolutely FN RUBBISH
What a joke so beware and give them no payment info for there scam.so far they claim I have been arrested 25 times in 14 days.
Never happened
I'm going to send em one of my $13 dollar bills
Everytime I'm allegedly arrested.
People check nerds should be shutdown ¿
The representative who helped me today was very good, she was friendly, personal and professional. Thanks you!
I went to this website for one background check and supposedly signed up for the $29 monthly subscription. I thought I only paid 6 dollars for it. I called to talk to them because you also need to call to cancel and they did not give me all my money back. So they trick you into a monthly subscription to make their money.
All I wanted was one report and the trial 4.99 ok I can pay that for 1 report then they charged me 6.99 for unlimited sneaky they are beware cause I could have gone somewhere else cheaper and not 10 for a report
Site told me before I purchased my person was in jail and had moved to another state. He had the hook for me to bite and unfortunately I did.
They had minimal information and what they told me was TOTALLY 100% INCORRECT ON THEIR hook site.
Very disappointed. Do NOT USE THIS COMPANY
I'm sure I'm not the only one to say they trick you with the $1 and immediately charge you a $30 and another $8 in the same day after they specify only $1. I know the bank is not going to fight to dispute, but there is other ways to tarnish the name of the company. Nothing online is safe anymore everyone steals from you, you need to spend 6 hours reading the fine print or wrist being robbed. Nothing worse than feeling like someone is stealing your hard-earned money. If I could give them a lower rating than one star I would.
I first made a purchase on this site thinking it was a $1.00 charge. After noticing the $29.17 charge during the first month: November 01,2021, i quickly called to figure out why i was being charged that much and to cancel that exact day for all future payments. I was told a refund would be processed. Since then, I have been charged FOUR additional charges since cancelling my subscription.
$29.17: December 02,2021
$29.17: January 03,2022
$29.17: February 01,2022
$29.17: March 02,2022
I've also noticed a $6.99 charge which was also never mentioned on October 25,2021.
Only refunded one but said they did 3 then said they couldn't do the other two because of policy?
After signing up for the "unlimited" search and report trial ($4.99 is reasonable you think) you will find out that if you make use of ANY of the supposedly included features available, you will immediately incur additional charges. Be aware too that unlike many of these other background check sites, the Checkpeople search service has very little access to even the most basic and publicly available information (as in basic criminal history, current social media, etc.) that you might need to make an informed decision about the parties you are investigating. You will however get lists of potential email addresses AND lists of several people from the sex offenders registry that are located in the vicinity of the person or people in question... I guess that's not completely UN-useful information to have but you can get that (more comprehensive and free of charge btw) from any number of other sites. I suppose that I can use all the emails as seach criteria for one of the other background check services that do have access to useful information. My guess is that they make the majority of their profit in the first 24hrs of the "unlimited" trials--more specifically from the accidentally purchased additional services that you might think are included but are not (as outlined at the bottom of the obnoxious fine print buried in the Terms of Service). My fault for just skimming it twice before checking the box, rather than printing it out and pulling out my magnifying glass (probably would have gotten extra charges for that). The customer service folks at least have the temerity to sound embarrassed about it and hysterically, even admit that that very pertinent information "doesn't always show for the customers" LOL... the poor girl I spoke sounded pretty surprised I wasn't cussing at her (it ain't their fault obviously, so I don't take it out on the donkeys). I didn't even bother trying to get my $12 back for the absolutely useless (literally empty) reports that I pulled up in the first 20 minutes of using my trial. Don't let all the whirlygig graphics and status bars fool you-- Checkpeople will not give you anything except a larger than expected debit from whatever payment method you use.
The rep was very courteous and patient. She maintained a positive attitude with me and helped me cancel my subscription with no problem.
Advertised for a $1.00 then charged me $40.00 the report wasn't even accurate. Would leave 0 stars if I could don't waste your money definitely not worth it!
Answer: Scam! Beware, they will drain your bank before you even have a chance to notice!
Answer: I had to cancel my card with my bank and file 3 claims before I got $4.33 back. But, Check people will say they didn't take it and say that you have to do a 3 way call for them to verify. I don't know about you, but I'm a complete idiot when it comes to technology.
Answer: BECAUSE THIS COMPANY WILL RIP YOU OFF! CALL YOUR CARD HOLDER IMMEDIATELY AND STOP PAYMENT!
Answer: Report them to the FCC. I did. They say they'll charge you one amount, then go nuts on your card.
