Booking a vacation getaway from San Diego to Miami for me and a friend. Airline Confirmation GOMMWN on AA. There was an earthquake and very bad weather and the place that i was visiting had been hit hard. I called 15 days in advance to cancel my flight and get a refund $1287. 42 paid in full by Mastercard. Reps may be all offshore because I could barely understand what was being said to me and the phone connection was very choppy. Totally the opposite of when I was booking. Reps were politely speaking standard American english with crystal clear reception. I received a full refund for the hotel and car through online chat. My cash was back in my account in 30 minutes. When it came to the refund for the flight, they put me on hold the first time for 91 minutes and then hung up on me. I was so heated I called back. I was on hold for another 35 minutes and when the rep answered to help me I complained about being on hold and hung up on, but he didn't understand what I was saying. I asked for a supervisor and he put me on hold for 15 minutes and hung up on me again. I called from a different phone number and requested to book a flight and we are back to the crystal-clear english speaker. I then asked for customer relations for a refund/travel credits *******211 and I'm back on hold for 15 minutes. The rep answers and I said what do I have to do to get a refund for a flight that I purchased? They told me to contact American Airlines and hung up the phone on me again. I have the 2nd and the 3rd phone calls recorded for proof if anyone wants to hear it. Email me at *******@live.com I finally got through to American Airlines and they said we will charge you a fee if you don't refund through Cheapoair.
It's been 5 months and I'm still waiting on an investigation. I called on the 22nd of December 2 days ago to see if I had travel credits and the travel credits came out to $466.80 which is the right price, but it's restricted to American Airlines only. It's time to Lawyer up. I'm sure they will take my case after hearing these recordings.

Got what I wanted... cheap! Alternate dates gave me better times of departure and Spirit gave me non-stop. Perfect!

Answer: I would not use Cheapo under any circumstances. Look at the 698 (!) complaints at the Better Business Bureau website. They hide under the name Fareportal, which is the parent company.
Answer: Don't use them. Book through the airline. I paid to select my seats, then a week before my flight they put me and my companion in the middle seats in different rows!
Answer: Security may not be an issue but they can cheat you by hiding information you should know. I would suggest to not use them and their customer service personnel are also worst I have ever seen.
