I'm still waiting to hear back about my proof of registration. It's been four days now. I've called them emailed them multiple times after going online to their site. Please don't purchase your registration from these scammers. You pay more for terrible service.

Deceptive
September 28, 2014

Deceptive. You can pay directly to DMV. Why does DMV list this deceptive site. Fees are huge. Ridiculous.

I wish I had read the reviews before I bought the registration from Cartagz. I was in a hurry and thought I was on the DMV web site, since Cartagz is the very first thing that comes up in a web site. Only after I bought it from them I noticed that there is a lot of extra fees. I have paid for overnight delivery for $16.50 and it's been a day already and I haven't gotten it yet.

I was extremely frustrated with this site. I HAD to have my proof of registration in about three days so I paid $16.50 for priority overnight shipping. I did not receive my registration card/stickers for FOUR DAYS. I don't know if it was Cartagz bad or GSO (Golden State Overnight) but either way I will not be using this service again.

I had to pay late fees for my registration renewal since the dmv did not mail me a reminder, i couldn't do that on the dmv site, and i definitely do not want to wait those long damn lines at the dmv. I saw cartagz as my solution, yes i felt it was a ripoff but its fine cuz of their service! The real ripoff is from the dmv for charging those pricey tags annually and not providing a decent way to pay. I feel that my hard work and money was stolen from me.

The DMV said they had a glitch in their system. I just got divorced and followed all DMV guidelines to get my registration sent to me so I could pay it timely. I never got my registration from DMV. I called them and they said their system had a glitch regarding name changes. DMV charged me 50.00 late fees anyway. When I saw Cartagz, I thought Thank God. DMV refuses to take Visa card over the phone. I cannot register my car with DMV online because I have handicapped plates. DMV punishes you for being crippled. I don't care what anyone says about Cartagz. I registered my car today. Yes, they are expensive. However, I don't have to worry about paying further late fees to DMV because DMV is stupid!

I accidentally accessed this site while renewing my vehicle registration on line. As soon as I saw the extra fees involved I realized I was on a third-party web site. Have to hand it to them for having great search optimization in that they come up even before the DMV. They may provide a service but their methods are deceptive. Don't use them unless you absolutely have to.

This site is a big rip off. Sure if you are late with the registration, then maybe you don't mind paying way more than you should, but for the average person, this site should not be used and it should not come up when trying bring up the DMV website. I tried to register my car, but it told me it was not due to be registered. I had the renewal notice right in my hand saying it was. Offered to let me get a duplicate registration for DMV of $19, plus about $60 extra in fees. I was amazed such a site can be out there trying to scam people like this. Avoid this site.

Typed DMV.CA.Gov and this is the first site that came up. I was in a hurry and typed all the information and paid. Shoot this site charged so much and didn't realized I wasn't in the right DMV website. I called to see if I can cancel the transaction but no answer instead you have to leave a message. I do not recommend using this site... it was my fault I was not reading but paying the renewal registration in a hurry...

I was online today renewing my vehicle a week early. The CA DMV site sent me directly to Cartagz.com. Cartagz pumped my DMV fee from $72 to $96. That's adding $24 (33%). Then they add a $29 "service fee", and then... they add a "convenience fee" of $2.66. That's paying an extra $54.66 in fees in addition to my $72 standard DVM fee. Total $126.66... 75% more for this convenient service. This kinda behavior makes me want to scream FRAUD! What a sham(e).

Agree with everyone who thinks this site is a rip off. Was about to pay an additional $36.50 for my registration when I thought to check reviews.

Went back to DMV and easily registered my vehicle - now that I knew to avoid the Cartagz banner. I was also late registering my vehicle and that was not a problem on the DMV site.

DMV and Cartagz to blame on this one. DMV for allowing Cartagz to advertise their service, and Cartagz for ripping off customers. $5 for a confirming email?

Don't believe the 5 star reviews for a minute. When was the last time anyone gave a 5 star review for being charged a $30+ premium to pay a bill?

BEWARE!
October 29, 2013

BEWARE! THIS SITE IS CONVENIENT ONLY IF YOU HAVE MONEY TO BURN! This site has nothing to do with DMV other than sucking money from people trying to pay their already over-priced DMV fees. My DMV fee was $194 and ended up being over $224 when cartagz added its service charges. I suggest you buy a stamp and mail a check. This is absurd!

Needed to get a recently purchased used car registered and have the tags/registration shipped to my address and not the previous owners. I was leaving for vacation in three days and did not have time to go to dmv to transfer ownership and get new tags. I park on the street and needed the tags as soon as possible to avoid getting ticketed. I used Cartagz and got the registration/tags mailed to me overnight. Overall, that cost me about $50 on top of the normal registration fees.

I see some of these other reviews complaining about the extra fees and I just rolled my eyes. Uh hello. They are providing a service so you expect them to do it for free? If you don't want to pay the fees, go to DMV and do it yourself. Reading all these non-sensical reviews has made me lose faith humanity once again.

My experience is, I'm a senor citizen and live on a very tight budget. My daughter told me, "you are not suppose to pay any addional fees". My tags is $144.00, Cartagz Service Fee:$29.00, Convenience Fee:$4.03, Shipping:$14.50: E-Copy:$5.00, Total Due:$196.53.
I would have came out cheaper to pay late fees of:$171.00 After 10/08/13 through 10/18/13. T is Payback Time! I am going to fight for rights, since the Congress became full of themselves, Republicans this mean You!
Cartagz.com is charging me for being disable. I am tired of these scams. I want my money back. How can the DMV, a goverment website, let a website piggyback on their site? Instead, hire more workers to help in these trying times.
This sites are taking advandage of the people since the goverment's shut-down.

I saw a lot of flak about this website, calling it a scam etc, waste of money, etc etc. Non the less I needed to register my car over the weekend so I could visit some buds. The standard DMV site wouldn't allow me to register my car because it was past the renewal date. I would have to wait until Monday to get my car registered.

I decided to give this website a shot and see if they could get me registered before Monday. Sure enough with an hour or two they provided me the a pdf of my updated registration. So yes, they do charge for a service, and yes you can do it free online at the DMV site if your within your renewal deadline date... but if you were in a similar situation then this website is far from a scam. Food for thought.
