Care2 has garnered a mixed reputation among its users, with some praising its commitment to social causes and the opportunity to earn credits for charitable actions. However, significant concerns overshadow these positive elements, particularly regarding the perceived manipulation of petitions and unauthorized use of signatures for political agendas. Many users express frustration with the lack of responsiveness from customer service, citing unaddressed complaints and a flood of unsolicited emails. Overall, while Care2 appeals to those aligned with its progressive mission, it faces substantial criticism over transparency and ethical practices.

Another major problem is that the articles that make up the Care2 news section and the Causes section are frequently from disreputable sources of extreme anti-science propaganda. Finally, there is an extreme intolerance of people who post alternative views to whatever agenda the articles are pushing. Generally, an unpleasant site where a small group of people rage that the sky is falling based upon biased information, discourage other view points, and create frequently useless petitions to fight problems that oftentimes don't even exist. And, yes, they are a private, for-profit corporations selling members' data and frequently spamming members' inboxes.
What a shock to see my email flooded with over three hundred beg letters from about a hundred money grab, B. S. psuedo causes that are pretty much not legit. *******@ssh0les I'm killing that account and never signing you crap petitions again.
Care2 does not care about anything except advertising $$$$$$. Adspam posted by money launderers is allowed to infest the comment threads, threads are allowed to grow to thousands of comments, rendering them impossible to load, let alone read, and the moderator of the "help" group - that is closed to participation by people not in it - blatantly plays favorites. People he doesn't like are suspended and Care2 never explains why or how long the suspension will be in effect. Several petitions asking for Care2 to be more open in communicating with members were deleted, and another petition hosted on Avaaz has had its Care2 discussion thread censored. Even so, the favored trolls are allowed to insult anyone who asks for Care2 to be more open and responsive to members' needs.
This company is not about 'caring.' It's about page views, ad revenue, and has incompetent moderators and technical personnel. Some parts of the site have not worked in years, yet the company has no interest in fixing them. I'd give 0 stars here if it were possible.
It allows you to sign petitions and submit news stories. In return you then gain butterfly rewards which can be spent on projects to help the needy, and it buys things you otherwise wouldn't be able to afford (eg. A well etc). At first, I had trouble accessing the site but for some monthes now this seems to have been fixed after a tweet I sent to the Care2 team.
Not only is this a legitimate petition site, but you earn credits for signing certain petitions, and you can redeem those credits for things such as "providing a shelter dog with a toy", "a day of safe drinking water for a child", or "raise a farm animal humanely" and much more. Care2 is a nonprofit and legitimate petition site, so I don't know why people are downing it without even knowing their facts.
Since I put my comment (when I just started visiting), I'm really disappointed with this site and its blog. Articles about animals, foods etc are good and educating. I'm really disappointed with the Human Rights section. The majority is reblogging from other sources, but even as reblogging it often doesn't come right. Facts not verified (to a degree of nonesense), adding something that's not there, omitting information, sometimes the impression is that the author didn't even read the article they reblog and just made up something different, mulling the same stories over and over. My biggest complaint is it seems that the bloggers absolutely need to follow some "party line", when selecting subjects and then twisting the information to the degree of "witch hunt", even making unfounded accusations. It's not just boring, it's adverse and anti-Human Rights. It's not a bad site overall, but I wouldn't give it more then 1 star for this reason.
Despite some of the comments below, care2.com is indeed a great site. From living healthier to green living, to promoting causes out there, this site is a great source of information, while at the same time, giving you an opportunity to make a difference.
Because it is heavily slanted towards global warming, human rights, civil rights, etc., there is a pretty good chance that you are not going to like them if you are an ultra right-wing person. It is a site that is abashedly and openly towards the left. Most people who make negative comments will find themselves on the other side.
Care2 forums are full of nasty trolls. I thought if any site would be more intelligent, mature, compassionate and caring as well as civil towards one another, it would be Care2. The trolls there seem to have taken over many of the threads and destroy any chance of civil, intelligent discourse. As another person noted, the staff will rarely, if ever, reply to any concerns or inquiries. Many good, caring people have walked away from Care2 due to the abundance of trolls there. Until, or unless they do some 'housecleaning' and get rid of the trolls, I will not participate there anymore.
Another extremely great site for people who would love to donate money and help different charities without actually spending any of your own money (for those who can't really afford)... they have an option of click-to-donate with some special different charities they support, where you just click the charity and the sponsors of care2 will pay money for every click to the charity. Amazing ini... now can help even if not rich... :)) ... love this site... ofcuz there are other things as well that you can do on the site... meet other likeminded kind people, do daily causes, get info for green living, healthy living, the list is very big...
This site CLAIMS to care about people and the environment... they NEVER get back to you when u contact them. They do NOT help u with any site problems. And are just a scam. THAT'S IT!
Answer: I have tried contacting Care2 about this. Do the points really become the gifts they claim? Absolutely no answer, even tried on their help forums. They just ignore it. Best answer is your gift helps towards that goal. Yea, right. That's the same line advertising always uses, "helps" weasel word if I ever heard one. I would say it's still worth doing as it costs you nothing. But, please don't use it as a substitute to giving money to charity. The Care2 gifts are worth pennies; at most may be a £1 or $1 (that's for gifts that require over 5000 points)
