Care2 Reviews Summary

Care2 has garnered a mixed reputation among its users, with some praising its commitment to social causes and the opportunity to earn credits for charitable actions. However, significant concerns overshadow these positive elements, particularly regarding the perceived manipulation of petitions and unauthorized use of signatures for political agendas. Many users express frustration with the lack of responsiveness from customer service, citing unaddressed complaints and a flood of unsolicited emails. Overall, while Care2 appeals to those aligned with its progressive mission, it faces substantial criticism over transparency and ethical practices.

Scamming
January 4, 2018

Everyone, there is a website called Care2.com where you can sign petitions. I was on it last night and signed my name to Brock Turner, to keep him from being paroled. But this morning I received an email saying I signed something to repeal the Trump Tax plan which I know I never did. I believe theyre taking our information and adding it to the petitions they want signed, Im not 100% but just in case, stay off this website.

Pearl the Pony
November 12, 2017

I have lodged a petition for Pearl the Pony, Care put a 1000 goal on it - no one can access it anymore, does that mean we have reached the goal?
How do I increase the goal figure please?

Lost Credibility
October 24, 2017

I lost all confidence in Care2 with their petition to free billy the elephant at the LA Zoo. The petition is totally misleading.
https://www.thepetitionsite.com/900/414/840/?src=ar_facebook_ads&campaign=sign_**************217
Just look at the actual conditions and care the elephants are receiving: http://www.lazoo.org/elephants/
What other petitions and the groups receving the funds have not been vetted properly by Care2?

After seeing complaint that charities were not receiving rewards, I contacted this one as it had been previously reported. THEY ARE NOW RECEIVING THE DONATIONS. So keep it up, Care2 and don't make mistakes again. Also, do not allow petitions to become nasty or a business site.

I have always been more than happy to be asked to sign petitions supporting animal conservation, environmental and health issues inter alia but now find the regularly increasing trend towards openly critical political issues is becoming intolerable.

"Care2 Stands Against: bigots, bullies, science deniers, misogynists, gun lobbyists, xenophobes, the willfully ignorant, animal abusers, frackers, and other mean people. If you find yourself aligning with any of those folks, you can move along, nothing to see here."

Sounds good, yes? Read between the lines. While I have no arguments against targeting animal abusers, the other labels need better definition because it can be biased and too facile. What's Care2's definition of a bigot, a bully, or mean people? Does that mean if my views are at variance with Care2's political position that I'm a bigoted mean person who's willfully ignorant, that I should just "Move along"? Care2 isn't interested in rational discussions; it's an exclusive self-congratulatory political club that aims to intimidate, demean, and brainwash the intellectually passive.

I have been a member of this fantastic site for more than a decade. It allows personal email service for communication, click to donate for wonderful charities, petitions ready to sign and setup, along with topical news stories. Just for using this marvelous site, you receive credits that can be redeemed for the causes most dear to you. Consequently, it is a site that keeps on giving!

SCAM
December 8, 2016

I tried in vain to make a petition exposing the PIZZAGATE horrors. They made it impossible for me to actually get the petition going. I had about 20 friends here watching in dismay as they made it virtually impossible to get the petition out. Scary!

Care 2 doesn't care.
November 18, 2016

I joined Care 2 in the hope that I could do some good in the world, met a wonderful Australian who has become a good friend, clicked to donate, signed thousands of petitions until my page crashed. After a few weeks I managed to sort the problem myself. I had written to Care 2 a few times asking for help... nothing. When I eventually got back on I resumed signing etc. and then I was verbally abused by a creep on a Comments page and the abuse was disgusting. I had already been verbally slated by 1 man for my opinions on Trump and was used to revolting people posting nasty comments, not just to me but the abuse I got from this particular man was dreadful and really upset me. I wrote to Care2 and had a very unenthusiastic and quite angry response so I left. I really enjoyed signing petitions and clicking etc. but Care 2 are supposed to care and be fair and they do neither. The public are not stupid and a lot of people know that they are a profit making company but they should look after the people who genuinely want to help make a difference and fight cruelty, poverty and injustice. I am signing petitions elsewhere but will never rejoin Care 2 and for those who have written about how wonderful they are... do you work for Care 2? If not just be careful!

Changed for the worst
September 24, 2016

I've been a member for a long time and now I have serious doubts about this site.
We used to be able to redeem points, get extra points for clicking daily etc. Now I cannot do anything it seems despite numerous complaints to customer service. I also contacted the Turtle Hatchling charity and they said they hadn't received any contributions from Care2 in a long time, so who knows where anything is going, or IF we are really accomplishing anything by clicking, sending green stars etc. I've tried different browsers and no matter how much I try to redeem, my star count never decreases and the processing window seldom completes. I am debating whether to waste my time clicking daily and am sorry this site has come to this.

I have been a member since 2012 and now considering leaving this Web site. It's purpodted mission is to promote causes which better the lives of people and all other life.

Unfortunately, my experience has been getting worse and worse as the site bungles basic Web protocols. It has wiped out my profile details several times over the years and if it doesn't improve over the next weeks, I will be deleting my account.

There are other sites to sign petitions on - e.g., Change.org, Forcechange.com, or Avaaz.org - and which provide a sense of community. I am very disappointed in Care2 but I guess that's life.

I have been a member of care 2 since 2012, I have signed thousands of petitions,, I have learned of things I didn't know existed.
When I have had a problem, I have found the administrator "Eric" to be helpful, respectful, caring, and funny,
Care 2 has it's own group, "feedback & suggestions" - and believe me it is very popular.
Aside from collecting and donating butterfly credits, signing petitions, reading very informative c2nn stories,. Anyone can start a petition for a cause, but if it is stupid, racist, or down right offensive, it will soon be removed, petitions can be "flagged up" -so too can offensive comments, they will be removed if found to be racist - or it attacks a certain minority group of people -. Aside from that care 2 does allow free speech, - there is a code of conduct to abide to, (commonsense code of decency)
There are different groups for people to join, Some chat and play word games, some groups are support groups, others are political discussion groups, - "how to "... groups.
There is a group "click to donate free food" where you can click to help people animals, and the vulnerable, all from different parts of the world, - "Greatergood " can be found there.
I am a member of different groups, and have made some lovely friends, we have swapped emails, and now send greeting cards through the post slow mail,
Then finally you can send "E, Cards" which generate money for good causes.
I have had only positive results from joining care2, and yes once I was "told off" in a nice way, because i was silly enough to fall into a trolls "slagging match" trust me I gave as good as I got. - but it achieved a big fat zero, and wasted my time.
As for selling our data! Nearly everything is sold by everyone, and as for the person who said, they had to give their address to sign a petition on care 2, I have never signed a petition where it didn't ask for your email and address,, I just click the tick box, - for- "no i do not want any further info on... or from..."
- P. E. T. A. demands your phone number and age,. But after complaints, the phone number is optional, but you have to give your age, --- I am very healthy and spritely for 115 years old! --
Care 2 do care about their members, and do generate a lot of awareness for causes, they have had fantastic success re- outcomes from petitioning for better animal welfare, as well as human rights and caring for our planet.
The 2 star rating is terribly unfair, they are a 4 star site, and 5 star in my opinion
Regards to all Mrs W Kelly ~ UK.

I'm pleased to say I was one of the signers of the Care2 petition asking Waitrose to stop selling the deadly herbicide Roundup.

After tens of thousands of us signed the petition, the company agreed to drop Roundup.

We did it! It worked! Thank you Care2:)

I've been a member of Care2 for a number of years. Care2 is the best petition site - by far.

Here's why:

It's incredible to see how much impact the members have on the world. People start petitions to help protect local parks, improve school policies (e.g. BYU "code of conduct" rape petition), help wildlife (e.g. Cecil the lion, Yulin dog festival) and thousands of other causes.

Care2 is truly a community (35 million people) of people who want to make a positive impact on the world. Other petition sites are just places to start a petition. At Care2, the members are very active to support each others campaigns.

Care2 has partnerships with thousands of nonprofit organizations to help them win their campaigns. They work with all the big names (Amnesty International, World Wildlife Fund, Human Rights Watch, etc.)

Why do some people bash the site? Because Care2 is a threat to some people. They fight the NRA, they don't support policies of the Religious Right, they support gay rights, freedom of choice and the rights of us little people around the world - so that angers people on the far Right.

As the saying goes, "Well-Behaved Women Seldom Make History". That makes a lot of people unhappy, but I think that also means they're having an impact.

Also, Care2 does connect people with nonprofits, but you need to give your permission for them to do that. So, if people are complaining about this, they should just opt-out of that.

Care2 is the real deal. Highly recommended.

Like many people, as suggested by other reviews, I started signing Care2 petitions that I cared about. But Care2 frequently combined the petitions I wanted to sign with submission boxes that were really about joining certain political election campaigns. They either prevent you from submitting your signature on petitions you want to unless you join the election campaign or trick you into thinking that by clicking on joining these election campaigns (which you don't notice) you are really only signing the petition. It's deceptive. Sadly, I won't be signing anymore of the petitions, many of which I really did care about.

I PICKED UP QUICK THAT THINGS WERE NOT RIGHT ABOUT THIS SITE. ITS JUST ANOTHER MONEY SCAM. A COMPLETE WASTE OF MY TIME. I TRULY CARE ABOUT ANIMIAL WELFARE AND CRUELTY. THIS SITE DOESNT REALLY CARE ONLY ABOUT WHAT THEY WILL GET OUT OF IT. I HAVE UNSUBSCRIBED AFTER A WEEK. IS ANYTHING TRUE.

At first, the site only asked you to click a button to sign. Everything else was optional. Now you have to fill out a whole form - name, address, email, etc. every time before you can sign. Sorry, but if that doesn't stop, I'm reluctantly bye-bye.

We're in Canada, yet for all the people going to the petition the country comes up as United States. Many people don't notice this, and further down where they try to enter the province it won't let them, so they go away in frustration. We've had many complaint's and lost signatures because of this.

It would be so much smarter, if, in the settings section, the founders of the petition could enter the default country and have the petition default to that.

I was really excited about finding and joining care2. The many articles about animal welfare and vegan / vegetarian issues as well as the personal page set-up and friends links made me think this was a form of social media like facebook only better. I enjoyed earning points for commenting then "redeeming" them as selected charitable activities although the actual charities were never named (just "one farm animal humanely raised" for example). My experience started to decline when one of my care2 friends wrote me about her experience when she posted a comment about Islam looking at animals, and especially dogs, in such a negative light as to actually encourage their mistreatment. Care2 contacted my friend and asked that she change her comment. Then that same friend started to have her earned points disappear. She would write to care2 only to be ignored. Then she and I started to communicate using our personal emails because she told me that many people had been barred from care2 sometimes for no reason at all and without warning. Around that time, I started to notice that a group of five men and 2 women were taking over the comments after any article pertaining to the benefits of being vegan and/or vegetarian. I didn't yet fully understand what an internet troll was. I just knew that these people would post the most rude, stupid pro-meat nonsense you could possibly imagine. Tons of outdated, fearful falsehoods about the damage people do to themselves by not eating animals, and crazy comments about how vegans and vegetarians are mean to "omnivores" and the World Health Organization is part of a vast vegan conspiracy and so forth. They would play with people's names and just be generally immature to the point of sounding like some mean high school clique. They would over post comments to bury the thoughtful comments that expressed genuine concern about the plight of farmed and hunted animals. A couple of them posted graphic descriptions of how they slaughtered and took apart goats and rabbits just to upset people. I made the mistake of getting involved in commenting to them and supporting the position that vegetarianism and veganism is good for the planet and good for one's body and soul. I was ripped to shreds, insulted, made fun of and cyber bullied to the max culminating in one telling me to "blow him" and accusing me of being the "lesbian lover" of another care2 member and stating that my partner of 30 years was "imaginary." I responded by copying and re-posting this man's graphic description of him slaughtering an animal with a warning to other care2 members. I asked care2 for help, and they chose to do nothing until, after many weeks, they barred the man and then barred myself and the other care2 member who he made the sexual comments about. Neither she nor I ever received a notice, email anything explaining what we had done to deserve such a fate though we have written many times asking for such an explanation. It is, of course, a simple matter to go back on with a new email and identity, and, perhaps, that is what they want so they can show their advertisers how many members they have. They have never deleted my page though I cannot use it now. Fortunately, I can still communicate with three of my care2 friends because we exchanged personal email addresses. Also, there is something wrong about the way they fund the animal, environmental and social projects they claim to fund -- where is a list? Where is any open information about the specifics of who received what? I really am feeling like this is a sham. The environmental and animal welfare articles seem to be there to lend legitimacy to a darker agenda. To any one thinking of joining or advertising on this site, I urge caution. You may be inadvertently supporting something you want no part of.
