Fraud. Fraud. Fraud alert. This is not a real services website, they don't exist. You pay and after paying you WILL NEVER find your account or service. BE AWARE.
Care.com I have used for a few months with no luck, and today (9/22/2023) I was charged AGAIN for a service that we did not use (as the site can see). Because their service is so inconveniencing, you cannot even call to speak to a live rep. I waited as number 10 in line for 35-45 minutes for a rep who disconnected the chat when I asked for a refund, he declined, and I asked for a supervisor. Went back and waited another 45 minutes for a second rep who told me the same thing of no refund (regardless of not utilizing these services) and abruply ended the chat. Very unprofessional, classless, and I would NEVER recommend them. Go to UrbanSitter.

I joined 8/28 and thought I was paying a monthly fee.
When I got my credit card bill, I was billed $79.79 for three months.
I am in my 70's and was trying to hire help because my husband needs hip replacement.
And I have a torn knee. I have been unable to hire anyone! I'm too far away, they can only.
Work evening, all kinds of excuses! care.com has no phone number and I have written two e-mails since 9/10. Never got an answer. Today I got on a chat, and they are charging me the full $79.79!
To deal with them has added so much more stress to our lives and not helped anything.
They add fees on top of what people post as there charges as well.
Horrible organization for elderly people to deal with!

My son signed me up on Care.com when I shattered my wrist and needed help with home care and caring for my animals. I hired two women on this site to help me daily. One worked weekdays, the other worked weekends. Turns out neither of them lived up to their profiles. One in particular only lasted 5 days. She was very distracted when at my home, constantly talking about her own issues and did not have the physical ability to help me very much at all. She also was struggling emotionally. I let her go and worked with the other woman until my wrist healed enough for me to be able to fend for myself. But she also had issues and was not very ethical. I tried numerous times to contact Care.com, but they ignore messages and phone calls and make it extremely difficult to get through to them. I wasn't even able to leave a review on these womens' profile. I think Care.com does this on purpose so they can keep collecting money from these 'fake' caregivers. If I ever need home care again, I will definitely go with a reputable company and not waste my time and money with this company and their scammers.

Even if you used the services for 1 week and hired a care taker, they will not refund you monthly if you don't cancel their services.

Great people looking for work on here but the site is super glitchy, too much spam/ automated messages and it's almost impossible to speak to a live person from the actual care.com site when something with the website or membership doesn't work.
I paid for a membership but could never actually talk to candidates. Every time I tried to message someone I got an error message but, bc the company switched some of their customer care functions over to an AI bot, there was no way to speak to a human to get any help. I lost two weeks on a paid membership without having access to an actual functioning site. The company would not provide an extension on the membership or a partial refund.
If you contact customer service they will just close your account for no reason at all. No warning or anything. Who does that? Asked a simple question reply back from them was my account had been closed of FOUR YEARS? Want given the opportunity to even decide if i wanted it closed or not. I don't no how asking a simple question gets your account closed.

I signed up for an account almost 2 years ago, once I put my card information in, it cut off the process and pretty much RESFRESHED and had me RE-LOGIN! It did that to me not once, not twice but 3 TIMES so what do I think? Cancel the whole process! But nnnnoooooo! What do I get? 3 charges from my bank, once I've dealt with it, I learned a while from this last incident, that I still have a subscription with them? I didn't even finish the profile yet here I am, getting charged for a PREMIUM MEMBERSHIP THAT IVE NEVER USED. I check my IOS thinking I've canceled it again, yet here I am again today with the same subscription? Wtf CareDOTcom? I want my refund for all of the payments you charged me for! If you signed up an account and it refreshes on you, CALL YOUR BANK and MAKE SURE THEY CANCEL IT!
What's worse, is you can't even find anyone to help you deal with this bull! You also have to pay more in your subscriptions in order to speak to someone? Not to mention they don't actually have Q&A about how to chat with someone! I want my refund for practically two years! This is beyond outrageously bogus! I highly do NOT recommend this site to anyone!

Wish I'd done my due diligence on this company. They suck! I was looking for a housekeeper. None of the applicants provided fit my needs. Tried one lady who was very nice but bless her heart she wasn't a housekeeper.
So fine I paid for one month of care.com approx $38. I also made the mistake of purchasing their $20 upsell for background checks. I never used it and requested a refund. It was denied. According to care.com they don't provide refunds even if the subscription isn't ever used. I wan't asking for the $38 back, just the $20 as it wasn't used. Denied! The most frustrating part of this experience was getting in touch with this company. If they respond it's with one email and then they deem that the case is closed, whether the customer is satisfied or not or has other things they'd like to communicate. Terrible business model! Terrible customer service. Would never recommend or use again.

Care.com took my money and immediately closed my account preventing me from using the subscription I paid for. To make matters worse they have Terrible customer service, refuse to make a phone call to me and do not respond to my emails. Stay away, use somewhere else.

I signed up for an hour. I tried to cancel because my niece called wanting to watch my son and they refuse to give me a refund. I paid $175 to sign up and no other services used. You can only find care if you sign up. They refused to give me a refund even though in the sign up it says you can cancel anytime. I will never use this service again and I hope other people stay away. There are way better options out there to find care. They will just steal your money.

I bought a 6-month subscription to their premium plan for $90 just to try it out. Never even found a sitter. 6 months later they charged me another $90 for an auto-renewal I had no idea would happen. Customer "service" team member just said "sorry, nothing I can do" when I requested a refund for the service I'd never even asked for. Basically it's legalized, fine print robbery. Never using care.com again, or any other spin-off companies these people may try to create to hide their embarrassing identity.
You should at least be able to trust a company that says it is made to help provide care for people who need it. But then it's well known that disabled, elderly, and kids are people groups the highest at risk for being taken advantage of. Horrible, scammy company. They didn't even send me a bill when they auto-renewed my account, I just happened to notice the charge in my bank account.
Soon after my conversation with the customer support team member, they removed my account from the website. Avoid this company at all costs!

This website falsely advertises "unlimited background checks" to consumers to sell them "premium" membership at a high cost. However, their system is very unreliable and hits snags and does not work and they do not have any support staff that are capable of solving problems. In my case after many hours of stressing over not being able to background check nannies for my child and trying to speak and get a resolution to this problem with their support staff, they labeled my issue "resolved" when it is very much not resolved and I still am unable to do the background checks on potential nannies that I have paid for.

When I did not continue with the background check, care.com emailed me a 20% off coupon. HOWEVER, the price then was inflated to 24.99 AND the ALMOST20 code they emailed me was invalid. When I tried to call their customer care number *******115 it was not a live person but a recording. Not a great start. I don't trust them already and I haven't even started.

My account got disabled nothing. Only thing I can think of was for rating two awful babysitters with a one star. Why wouldn't I? Why shouldn't I? *Would it not help the next family from making the same mistake I did!?* Nothing mean or inappropriate was said either. The site is trash anyway, most of the girls are posing with duck lips and list their college degrees - which are irrelevant for children/toddlers anyway. They genuinely think they're going to make over $20 an hour to just sit around and it's weird. Then after you set a schedule *and they agree*, not even two days in, they suddenly have recurring car problems, going to school for a few hours, not wearing deodorant IN THIS HEAT? Like THAT should be on your profile, not your college degrees. And of course my account got disabled after I paid the membership fee ($39.99!) AND their homepay fee app to pay the sitters (that app itself is a lottttt of fees).
UPDATE: I recieved an email from Sterling that a background check was run on me from them - *unauthorized*! So I called Sterling and they couldn't stop it but verified they have my background check (that I did not authorize or sign up for or agree to - literally did not expect this). Of course the email did too anyway but I wanted to try to stop it. So since sterling could not do anything, I go to Care's customer service chat (they have no number) and the person could not and would not answer me as to why a background check was run on me and why and who authorized it and what for!? And it was more upsetting because the chat representative said if my account was disabled, they throw away the information. So HOW AND WHY was a background check run on me two days after disabling my account...I guess I'll never know.

I subscribed, I entered a job description, I got 25 hits in two days that were generally not applicable. I had read the terms, and subscribed for 3 months. Since none of the people who were interested were even close to what I was looking for, at first look, I canceled my subscription knowing it was paid thru the quarter. I went to take a closer look and found I was blocked. When you cancel recurring charges, THEY LOCK ACCESS. So even though I'd paid for a quarter, I now had nothing and couldn't even see the full applications of the candidates. Don't get your hopes up, site is just a scam. I learned a lesson.

care.com has fake profiles with people who do not reply and if they do they write the same response...done by paid.employees.
Then they steal your payment the following year when your not on reoccuring payments
And
They do not refund your payment
Going after them on principal alone.

I have had an account, the same account on and off since 2014 when my son was born. In March 2023 again I paid and didn't renew the monthly subscription because I connected with 3 women who I thought were great. Things didn't work out and I didn't hire any of them for various reasons, the most glaring was poor communication, lack of communication and/or lack of professionalism. I never hired any of them. However in the past I had found good sitters on Care.com. This was just a bad experience I thought.
I signed on again this week to try to see if their most recent offerings would yield someone that I could hire.
When I tried to logon both on the app and online, I couldn't. My account was suddenly not found and I was getting error messages on both platforms. Strangely, it would not send me a reset my password link even though my email address was found, but it would only send me a link to set up a brand new account, at which time they immediately charged my credit card for membership $38.95 for a premium account.
Then when I attempted to contact a sitter their system would charge for the interaction and I had to cancel within 2 days or the charge would be permanent.
That is such a scam.
It is impossible to hire someone, just off the site without speaking to them or at least having some interaction or communication 1st. And having my credit card charged 1st to hold the funds to send the message is very dishonest.
Then I contacted their customer service to request a refund and inquire about my previous membership. The csr Neirry P, curtly ended the chat without giving me assistance on my question.
This company has really fallen off and has to resort to desperate tactics to charge people and/or obtain funds then you have to use their Chat or Email only to get help.
I immediately signed up with a paid membership to SitterCity, because I still have a need, and they at least for now don't put a hold on your credit card to send a message to a sitter.
Care.com just lost a customer.
SHAME ON THEM!

Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
