Hi Scott, We are a paid subscription service and not a free service. I'm sorry if you thought otherwise and therefore felt mislead. That was never our intention. Many sites like ours charge a fee in order to be able to offer you the features our site offers. Otherwise we'd just be like any other free classified site with very little to offer.

Hi Suzanne, All caregivers are required to complete an enhanced caregiver screening to include a background check called a CareCheck, which is based on the information the caregiver provides to us. It includes:
Social Security Number trace
National Sex Offender Public Website search
Multi-jurisdictional criminal database search
Federal and county criminal records search
Caregiver profiles display a CareCheck badge. Upon successfully completing a CareCheck, caregivers are subject to recurring criminal checks while they are active on the site. This helps Care.com enforce our membership eligibility standards on an ongoing basis.   These criminal checks are sometimes conducted through ongoing criminal monitoring, which is performed by Care.com’s third-party background check vendor and leverages various data sources to look for updates to a caregiver's criminal record.  
Care.com uses CareChecks and ongoing monitoring to help maintain a safe community.

I'm off to a good start but I don't like having no choice about the upgrade which includes auto-renewal. This becomes more of a problem for me to manage as a senior citizen. Looking forward to finding a wonderful candidate.

Nickeling and diming people for every feature is an awful way to treat users. I understand you all are doing this to make money but please include background checks for premium users. That service is included with ROVER for free!

The additional fee thing is very frustrating. It just seems Togo on and on. Your advertisements make this seem very user friendly. However trying to complete this and every time I believe I've finished another "option" that requires even more $ is " advised ". As if a person is NOT going to want background checks etc. if this is part of your program then the fee should just reflect this rather than nickel and dimming a person through your site. It makes me wonder about the validity of your site and company. I'm now not sure I want to proceed. Also charging my credit card $1 before sending the charge through is a FRAUD ALERT from my credit card company. Valid companies do not do this either. I'm going to call and reverse charges u til I make sure you are reputable.
