Capital One Blues
June 13, 2024

This is a dishonest company that uses a lot of gimmicks to keep and lure customers into their web of Credit Card purchases. Although I have made payments on time every month, I have a low Credit Card line of credit($750), which they refuse, under any circumstances to increase! To make matters worse, they recently sent me a letter that read: "Congratulations! You have been approved for a $200 Credit Card limit, as long as you deposit $200 into this account, and accept the interest rate of 30% plus!
I was, obviously, offended.

IN ADDITION TO ALL OF THIS, THE CAFES ARE A STUPID IDEA. Even though, by using your Capital One Card, you can get 50% off a Cup of Coffee in The Cafe, the reality is: Who Needs It? Wouldn't it be better to have REAL AND EFFECTIVE CUSTOMER SERVICE? Instead of getting all Customer Inquiries and Complaints sent off to The Phillipines -- or Colombia? WHAT A COSMIC JOKJE!

I had 2 transactions flagged for fraud in 4 days. I use my card to pay for work travel expenses and earn points to personally travel for free. I had to buy 2 plane tickets for 2 different work trips on my debit card not earning points. I called in for the second plane ticket payment not going through. The customer service rep "rain" was very rude, did not solve the problem and rushed me off the phone. $1300 of plane tickets in 4 days on my debit card not my venture card earning points... Called back a second time today to try and solve this issue for future purchases and I have not been on the phone for 42 mins without a single person coming back to the line for over 30 mins to check in on me...at this point I will close the account, and open one with better customer service and will earn points to travel.

We bought a car, and they financed it we needed our plate transferred to another state and within one month we paid it off completely first of all they lost my title and then they never changed my address which I told them 10 times to change the address I still can't get my plate for my car and my temp. Tags ran out so now I'm without a car. I ask them to send us the lien they have on the car and they sent it to the wrong address of course they never did the change of address I can't believe they are still in business I'm glad we paid off the car and never want to deal with them again, the people that work for them don't really understand what you're saying I just got off the phone again and they said they will try and send it overnight today is Thursday and they said for me to call them back on Monday, for a tracking number that is not over night. I give up on this I think I need an attorney to help me out on this one.

Wrong bank

ATTENTION! That deceit, Fraud! Don't put anything in there; doing so will result in the freezing of your account and the inability to withdraw funds. Remain away! I've lost more money than I should have on this platform. I had to discuss it with a family member who suggested "RegainOrg.Info while obtaining my money back with them has been simple.

Pitiful company
May 17, 2024

I tried to stop a payment that was cancelled. They were no help at all. I cancelled the card because it was going to get stopped one way or the other. They called back the charges of my purchases and didn't pay for a charge of $500 that they were suppose to cover and charged me for it. So did the new credit card for the same charge. When you owe them there is a deadline but not that way when they owe you. Stay away from Capital One. Discover is the best.

My account was put on restrictions because Capital One assumed that i stole somebody social security number who was deceased. Notice I've had this number since birth, and all of a sudden out of nowhere Capital One closed my bank account with funds in it, and suggested I go to a local branch which is 3 1/2 hours away from my residence to verify my social security number and Driver License to see if I'm a real person. No kind of heads up was giving at all, they just closed my account with my FUNDS in it. I'm very very frustrated because I have bills to pay, I have items I have to get for my son graduation, and for them to make it seem like I stole somebody else social security number is crazy, especially since I had this account for at least 4-5 years. Now I have to go out of my way, away from work, with no money, to get to Atlanta to verify me.

It was a surprise
April 15, 2024

Lol, never encountered such companies which offer solution for anything you need. Wanna shop for a car? You are welcome, it's easy to do here.
Wanna issue a credit card or open savings account? Not a biggie, there is everything for it here too.

Super versatile platform, I wanted to open a checking account and Capitalone has helped me in this issue. So I am thankful to them for being such a robust platform, it was surprising to find it, for real.

Misleading
April 5, 2024

I was fortunate to start my credit over with a Cap One CC after coming out of a Chapter 7 that was Covid Related. I started off with a small unsecured amount and never missed a payment. I was able to obtain three additional cards along the way with higher limits. I last check my credit score and it was over 650. So i applied for a credit increase with Cap One. 5minutes later I was denied. A reason was too many missed minimum payment. I pulled my Credit immediately and discovered that I didnt have "ANY" missed payments on it. Called Cap One and no one can provide me with any explanation. The irony in this whole ordeal is that Cap One pre approved my for a car loan of up to 40K but wont increase my credit $500.00.The only thing good about Cap One are the commercials...

To recover your account appears to be the biggest hurdle with Capital One. I simply changed my phone number and have lost access to my account, and they will only allow verification through the old phone number, which I no longer possess. The only way to contact support is through a telephone call that takes 20 minutes. I have also had multiple experiences with rude support staff who talk over me when I am just providing them with all the information for better assistance, and they treat you as if you are a child. Even then, in the end, you don't receive any help but just get a case started that never gets resolved. I've been trying to access my cards and can only use my phone to pay. Even when the phone number is updated, it won't allow it for verification. One reason why I became delinquent on one card was due to the difficulty of regaining access. It almost seems as if it is either intentionally designed that way or the result of extremely negligent customer service. But either way, it's unacceptable.

I have had capital one for a few years and all of a sudden my account was closed without notification, my payments kept returning even though I made sure the payment funds were available for the next day which is when it usually takes it out. There was no call or follow up regarding these actions and the only feedback was to reapply! I will not be reapply and Capital One has lost a valuable customer! Hope this helps someone else.

No online chat?! At all?!
March 27, 2024
Updated review

I don't think it's asking too much of a credit card company to have online chats available for customer service. First of all, you don't have to confirm your identity because you logged in. Second, you don't have to go through telephone torture. Third, if this is Capital One's way of saving money, it would be akin to a bottled water company saving money by bottling fresh toilet water. If I'm banking online, then I expect to find online employees to chat with. For all I care, Capital One's inhuman chat bot named Eno needs to die. I think he's already sick with a virus. You know, a computer virus. Because every time I ask him for help, he gives me a "Contact us" link that lists a bunch of phone numbers. What is this, "Little House on the Prairie"? Phone calls are so yesterday. I'm not going to call. I'll write them a letter and send it to them by boat over the ocean. That would probably be more effective, since it's obvious that no one's home.

Well, DUH!
March 3, 2024
Previous review

So, I opened a Capital One 360 Checking Account with the promise that I'd be given $350 after switching over my direct deposits. I think you were supposed to have over X dollars direct deposited on two consecutive months. Upon opening the account, I immediately had my direct deposit rerouted from my bank to Capital One. Unfortunately, it took a month too long for my payer to get with the program, and Capital One stiffed me. What else could I do but put in the request the same day I opened the account?! I bet Capital One knew that many people would struggle to get their direct deposits rerouted that soon. Shame on them. And then the [bleep] on the phone was really mean to me and told me that I "didn't qualify" for the $350. I told him to close my account, and he did; but then I realized that I should reroute my direct deposit AGAIN before closing the account, so I asked him to NOT close the account.

"I already closed it!"

"Well, unclose it! You just read something that said you can unclose it!"

"I didn't say I could unclose it! I said... uh... that you could still access the account for a while. Yeah. That's what I said."

"But how will I get my direct deposit next month?"

"Who cares? You just ordered me to close your account."

"No big deal," I said. "I don't really need that income anyway. I mean, really, who needs to get paid, am I right?"

"I suggest that you contact your payer as soon as possible, ma'am."

"Well, DUH!" I yelled.

He seemed stupefied. (I don't think it took much.) "What... what do you mean?" he asked.

"What do you think I'm going to do as soon as I get off the phone?! I don't want to deal with misrouted income!"

"I don't like your attitude," he said.

"Good! Go [bleep] yourself."

"Well! I never!"

"Figures! Give it a try."

Click.

I immediately logged in and canceled the transfer of my balance to my other bank. Now they can't close my account because they still have my money. I mean, they can try. Good thing my parents are both lawyers.

Was I mean to him? [Bleep] yes. I jumped through hoops to reroute my direct deposit, and I got nothing for it. Nothing. After I get my money in order and close this account, I'll never do business with Capital One again.

Dishonest banking
March 19, 2024

I have a $1,000 credit in it with Capital One with a minimum payment of about $30 a month set up on auto pay. To get my balance down I gave them $250 in March before my due date. On my due date they took an additional $250 without my permission. They took my money instantly but telling me they're going to mail me a check between 10 days and 2 weeks. This is causing my bank account to be overdrawn. Whatever you do do not sign up for autopay

I was charged $108 for interest even though I paid the full balance on time. I called customer service and talked to 5 different people. They all gave different reasons why the interest was charged. And refused to change the fee.

Unfair late fees
March 16, 2024

Called automated service to make a payment kept cutting me off tried the following morning with success but received a late fee. Called customer service to have late fee waived was told it could not be done since it was the next day after payment was due. Beware of their automated service I think it's done on purpose for a way to take your hard earned money. Get away from Capital One if you can merely a rip off with horrible customer service.

I disputed a charge that i made on my card and submitted all the evidence to substantiate my claim. Capital one agreed that i proved my case, but still continued to ask for more info and more documents. I gave them everything they asked for. They dragged me around like this for two months, then they told me that it's after sixty days and they are closing my claim because i have to make the claim within sixty days.

In fact i made the claim within a week, but they dragged the time until the two months passed.

I always pay my full credit statement by the due date, but Capital One Credit company charged me an Interest Charges every month. They charge daily interest from closing statement date to due date. I've never seen such charges with other credits. I am glad that I closed my account with Capital One.
