I've been a capital one member for over 10 years. Due to inactivity on my account, capital one decided to close it without my knowledge. When I ask to reopen it and that way I can still have my earning points for how many years I've used their credit card Capital one said that I have to start from the beginning in earning points and will not reimburse any points/credit that I've earned for many years.

According to Crunchbase Capital One recently piled hundreds of millions of dollars into a travel software platform out of Montreal called « Hopper ». This platform is good for charging you but not giving your money back. Example. Last August I had to change or refund two Hopper tickets from Zurich to San Francisco. The flight was to be on August 17 and my wife had gotten very sick and had to return another way. So for 10 solid days before the flight I tried to contact 1) Swiss airlines which said I had to cancel through the travel agent,!2) the travel agent Hopper's website -which was « temporarily down » for over 10 days, and 3) Hopper's phone which referred me to the non-functioning website.
What to do? I went to Capital One disputes and said I couldn't get in touch' to change my tickets. After over three months and perhaps a hundred phone calls to Capital One's various dispute centers, and two determinations against me; I finally emailed the Hopper founder directly. Then it took another two weeks of promises before I got most of my money back- but not all.
Please save your time and anxiety and stay away from Capital One travel. It will only result in frustration and wasted time. Beware.

My account was hacked so froze it. While frozen the hacker was able to still get in and change my phone number and address not once but 3 times. After over 2 weeks and sending in numerous documents to prove I'm me a manager FINALLY cleared both my CC and 360 account. I changed user name and password all good. NO WAIT I went in to make sure all was good maybe 3 hours later and WHAM HACKED AGAIN. Then had to fight to get my money out of my 360 account for over an hour and then closed my CC but had to forfeit my earnings because CUSTOMER SERVICE said they were unable to send a verification code but they could earlier but they just wanted to keep my whopping $6.23 rewards cash. Whst a shoddy company and horrible to deal with. Stay away is all I can say

I've been a loyal Cabelas Capital One card holder for years. Tried to buy theater tickets, they rejected my payment. Capital One refused to tell me what set off the fraud alert. 90 minutes on the phone, same questions, verification codes over and over. Finally asked me to mail my Drivers License! Really? 10 business days to review my case. Still locked out. You would be better off with any other credit card. Avoid this one for sure.

Stole my $800 cashback!
November 28, 2022

I had been a customer with Capital One for over 7 years. I had a cash back rewards card. I updated my address with them when I moved, then they locked my account so I called in and they said I needed to update my address so I did that over the phone with them. Then 2 months later my account was locked again so I called in and they said I needed to update my address. I refused to update it again since I had just done so twice in the last few months and told them it was unreasonable to need to update my address 3 times in less than 6 months. So they left my account frozen. I had not missed a full payment in over 4+ years and paid off my balance again even though my account was frozen. I hoped that bank would be interested in keeping me as a customer and would call to resolve the issue but no luck. Fast forward 6ish months I thought I'd call to get them to issue my cash back payment. When I called they said they had closed my account 2 months ago and that I had "forfeited" my cashback payment of $782. After much arguing they said it was bank policy to steal my accumulated cashback when they closed the account. So not only did they not want me as a customer they also stole nearly $800 from me. I will never deal with capital one again.

Capital One mis-posted a check I wrote for my husbands credit card to my credit card. The check was attached to the payment stub for his credit card. I was on the phone for no less than 1 hour trying to get them to correct the error they made. They take no responsibility. They want to open investigations. Both of us got on the phone sharing our personal credit card information repeatedly, and they still refused to commit to correcting the mistake and reversing and late fees. You do get a case# as a consolation prize.

Ridiculous Processes
November 23, 2022

Capital One used to be a pleasant company to deal with. My recent transaction with them makes me rethink this company. I missed 1 payment in who knows how many years after fully paying off a balance. I was late by 10 days. They restricted my card and even though I scheduled 3 payments for the balance they told me it would take 1-2 days to remove the restriction. Ridiculous. I'll keep my Bank of America account and any others but I'm not pleased with Capital One.

Capital one promised $200 back on the first $500 spent and 1.5% back on additional purchases, then froze my account because I payed pack the amount due after the first month. Their story was that there was fraudulent activity and that they needed proof of identification, with no reason what so ever, with a texted link to my phone that, of course, wouldn't except my photo of my driver's license. What a nightmare!

Capitol One sucks. They close accounts without telling you. They send out your funds in the form of a cashiers check using the regular mail without letting you know to look out for it. They transfer you from one customer service agent to another without explaining anything so you have to start all. Over. They truly don't care about their customers.

Opening a savings account at Capital One has been a nightmare. Verification lag issues for my husband and me made for many calls with customer service. Most did not speak english well enough to have a clear conversation. Exchanging account numbers was a comedy. Sold our house. "Miscommunicated" with us on on how much we can put into our new savings account. First agent said each joint owner could externally deposit $250k. But we were blocked to do that after the gymnastics of opening the acct. Sudden limit of $250k deposit max total in the first month for external bank ach. I Next agent, was obviously new and on a learning curve. Upgraded the call to the supervisor management team and it was obvious the "manager" just rolled out of bed. Or maybe was still in bed. Not friendly or apologetic about our issues or interested to help us. Said the limit was new due to fraud concerns and could not tell me where it was in writing in their disclosures. When I said maybe we should take the rest of our business elsewhere, he said that was our choice. Finally, I asked if we could wire the balance in instead of ACH. He said, "Oh yeah." Must not have had his first cup of coffee yet. We have taken the rest of our deposits elsewhere. Good luck Capital One. Wish I found this review website before choosing them.

My experience with Capital One service on November 19,2022 was horrible and deplorable. I was on the phone for approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes regarding Capital One requesting I submit a response to one of my cases regarding a refund of a hotel deposit. The second issue was I received a credit card alert from them about 3 weeks ago. I contacted Captial One's fraud unit and they decided to cancel my card and to issue a new card. The fraud unit advised they would send my card to my temporary international address via express delivery to one USA destination and then regular mail to Portugal. The card never arrived so in my communication with them I was advised Capital One never issued a new card. Speaking with a Capital One representatives in the Philippines, Jamaica and the USA about the issue. FIrst the Philippines representative after four attempts could not write the address to send a replacement card. After three transfers to another agent, I was advised that before they could send my card they needed to verify me. I gave them my temporary international phone number and was advised they could not dial an international number plus they need a local number. I then asked about other means of identification. I was advised I could use a state issued proof of identification, a valid drivers license or a photo copy of my passport. I said ok use my passport. What a cumbersome issue - they advised they would send me a link to photo my passport on my phone or computer. I told them my computer did not have photo capabilities. We finally resolved the issue as Capital One was about to send a verification code to my wife's USA cell number. Capital One sent me a link to upload my letter and other documents to their web site regarding my dispute for them rejecting a fund claim. I've tried the link for the past two days and the repsonse them the Capital One site is try again later. If you tried to respond to a capital one email, your response will be returned with a response your cannot send mail to this address. You cannot find a contact phone number or email link on their web site. What deplorable conditions for Capital One. They are NOT CONSUMER FRIENDLY

I had fraud on my credit card in Mexico 6 months ago and have been supplying documentation to Capital One for all these months. Tonight I was told I am expected to pay for a charge of over $1K for gas at a gas station when I paid cash for my gas and DID NOT sign anything. A company called El Rinco Con sent in a charge for $1K+ with a fake signature to Capital One. How do you put over $1K gas in a normal car? I am very disheartened that Capital One does not stand behind it's customers. I have had 2 cards for many years and have perfect credit. I am going to continue to fight and refuse to pay this charge that I DID NOT make. I plan to cancel both cards and not pay the disputed charged that again I DID NOT MAKE! BEWARE--Do not get these credit cards as they don't care about their customers at all. They are standing behind the scammers who are literally running a crime ring in Mexico. Google Pemex gas station fraud and you will see the stories.

Capital one has a very poor ability to help their customers including me!
I lost over $8000.00 to a dealer not fixing a continuing problem with my truck. I still have the same problem now with my truck.

I signed up for the Capital One Quicksilver card to get access to purchase Taylor Swift tickets ahead of time. My virtual card information was promised if I was approved for the card. I applied and was instantly approved for the card with a $10,000 limit (we have credit in the low 800's), but no virtual card was provided. After speaking to at least a dozen Capital One employees (customer service, digital tech, event staff, and supervisors) I am being told that they cannot help me get the digital card and that I will have to wait for the new card to arrive. Lies, FRAUD, Bait & Switch, 3 hours WASTED, Useless Staff is all you are going to get for such a shady organization! I wonder how many people like myself were tricked to applying for a card, and then not being able to use it right away. Scammers!

As a new Capital One Card customer, I logged onto my account to pay my credit card bill on the due date. When I tried to put a debit card on file to pay my bill, it would not let me. I kept getting a message on the screen saying, "Something went wrong and we are trying to fix it. Try back in a little bit." After several more attempts to enter my debit card, I ran into the same problem.

I then contacted customer service for assistance and explained my situation to them. The customer service agent told me that they couldn't figure out why the system was not letting me place a debit card on file to pay my bill. The agent in so many words said that I must be entering something wrong.

By this time I was aggravated and just wanted to get my bill paid, so I just paid it over the phone with my debit card. What good does it do to have an online account set up if it won't let you pay your bill online.
