I wanted to order a special gift for a friend who was leaving the country.
When I placed my order in February, I asked Cape Masai if it would be delivered by 4 March, which was the last opportunity that I would have to see my friend. They promised me it would be delivered by 4 March.
On 1 March I was getting worried that it would not arrive on time, so I asked again. They told me that the bag would only be made in that first week of March.
On 3 March I had not received any tracking information, so I asked them to confirm if it would be ready. They informed me that they would only start making the bag on the 4th of March, and they would only deliver early the next week.
On 8 March I asked again if they had shipped it in a desperate attempt to maybe get it to the friend. They told me that they had not yet even made the bag, and it would be made on that day.
On 9 March I asked again. They promised to ship it on 9 March. Their exact words on the morning of 9 March were "It's to leave today"
On 10 March I asked if they shipped the bag, and Cape Masai sent me a snotty reply "You were informed that your order is leaving tomorrow which is today and nothing has changed". They finally shipped it on the 10th.
I am now sad that I missed the opportunity to give a special last gift to my friend. If Cape Masai told the truth at any earlier point I would have had time to get another gift somewhere else before it was too late. The quality and value for money of their products are good, but don't believe a word that they tell you about delivery times.
I found the people at the business very caring. The service was good, friendly and they kept contact with me via whatsapp. I did have to wait a while for the bag, but they make the item after the order is placed. I am very happy with my liezel vanity bag and so pleased that I persevered to find what I wanted.
