Campsaver has garnered mixed feedback from customers, showcasing both commendable strengths and significant weaknesses. Positive experiences often highlight timely delivery, competitive pricing, and effective customer service interactions, particularly with certain representatives. However, a notable trend of dissatisfaction emerges regarding order fulfillment delays, unexpected shipping charges, and inadequate support during return processes. Customers frequently express frustration over communication issues and the handling of order discrepancies. Overall, while some customers report satisfactory experiences, recurring complaints about reliability and customer service suggest a need for improvements in operational transparency and responsiveness.

Would give 0 stars if I could. Ordered 2 things over 2 months ago and haven't received either one. Keep getting the run around whenever I call or email.
I have ordered twice from Campsaver for significant savings off retail and even sale pricing of other online stores. Purchased two expensive Arc'Teryx items and was very nervous to take the plunge with this company after reading the online reviews. Both of my items shipped within one day and then only took one day of express shipping to arrive at my address in a different state. I have been super pleased so far with my experience with Campsaver. That being said I did not order an item off of backorder and I called to be sure the items were in stock before I ordered.
Me: It wasn't supposed to be a store credit. It was supposed to be a refund. Respectfully,
Campsaver: Thank you for your email, according to the notes on your RMA, your return was sent back to us used, and with used items we can only issue store credit.
Me: Oh. My. God. It's running shoes. I ran 2 miles in them and they nearly destroyed my legs. How are you supposed to test running shoes without running in them? That's bull$#*!. I returned them within 30 days--which is what all shoes stores give you--and with the tags. You guys owe me a refund.
Campsaver: Thank you for your email, respectfully, the shoes were returned used and show signs of that use, they cannot be sold as new, and as per our returns policy we can only issue store credit for them, even if you returned them within 30 days.
Me: That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of. They're running shoes. It's impossible to test running shoes without wearing them. I'm not doing business with you guys again.
They are a total AMATEUR outfit! Ordered some Oboz shoes, stock said my size was available, even received an email stating that was the case so placed order. 2 days later I get an email from them stating order cancelled no reason given!
Absolute disgusted! DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! *******@nkers
The return process is about as terrible as you can imagine. It's not streamlined at all, they take their sweet time in processing the items once they are received, and THEN they try to convince you that you returned a used product to them, so you can only receive store credit.
I received a number of emails rejected by their (full) customer service inbox, the customer service line doesn't get answered (I waited on hold for so long!)... the only way I finally got ahold of someone was via chat.
Truly a nightmare!
I've been an REI member for decades. Not to minimize the force that is REI, but, as I recently am rebuilding my backpacking equipment after decades of child and now grandchild-rearing, I have searched for competitive deals across the web. CampSaver has universally been helpful in recommendations via phone and email (I'm rural) and I'm satisfied with my purchases. I think they're amused by the grandmother desiring to return to the mountains (okay, with my knees, the hills). Dreams keep us alive.
All 9 items didn't ship until the little whistle was in from backorder. Slow slow responses, poor shipping. I had a warranty request on a blatantly defective product and was told to take it up with the mfg. Listen to all the other reviews and steer clear
I've ordered multiple times from this store (4 times) and 3 of those times i was told they had it in stock. After a couple days they contact me saying they don't have the item in stock. STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAMMERS! All of the reviews about them using bait and switch techniques is absolutely true
Lesson learned! Read reviews before purchasing from a new vendor - I now understand why CampSaver has such terrible reviews online. As disappointed as I was with the inaccurate shipping information I received, I cannot even say that CampSaver at least provided a prepaid return shipping label for my inconvenience of having to purchase all the items locally after paying them for expedited shipping! Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired and requires a warning to all potential consumers to steer clear of CampSaver!
On Septenmber 19th, I placed a $655 order with Campsaver and revieved a PayPal reciept. This reciept said that 'Campsaver would contact me to complete the order'. After 36 hours and nothing, I wrote to them. They responded another day later saying they had no record. I sent them the PayPal reciept as proof... they simply replied - Call Customer Service. No explaination, no appolpgies. Nothing. So in the mean time, the sale finished and the prices went UP.
So I called, FROM AUSTRALIA, ON MY DIME. They reinstated the order... And then cancelled it again 24 hours later with an email seriously trying to Antagonise me...
There is alot more to this story but I'm fed up.
THE VERY WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE ON THE INTERNET.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
If you hope to get your items, or get them on time, don't order here. Looks like I may get my items sometime this month but still waiting for UPS to get the package after the Shipping label was created. I think they just create the label to give you a false sense of security, like it is finally on its way, when actually it still is not. There are plenty of other outfitters that stand by their shipping policy.
I purchased an item on December 26th and I contacted them on January 16th to find out that the item is on backorder until July 20th. It's LAME that I had to contact them after patiently waiting 3 weeks.
So, its been over two months since they took my money and gave me nothing in return. Two weeks after placing my order I got an email saying they could not ship some items to Canada! Items were already removed at checkout, so why was my order okayed? And why did it take 2 weeks to contact me? A list was sent of items with no explanation if these were the allowed items or the banned items and did I want them or not? Since I hadnt ordered anything I didnt want I asked that they be shipped. Now the fun began! Over the years that I have been buying from Campsaver, they have always shipped USPS. I assumed it was because they were savvy about the scam of brokerage fees charged by courier companies like UPS. Those extra fees you pay in gratitude to UPS for bringing your goods from their warehouse in the US to their warehouse in Canada. Well, it appears I had lucked out in the past getting items sent via post because this time they arrived UPS. They were happy to give me my parcel... for an extra $100! The driver didnt even bring the package to the door as he knew this was ludicrous and expected me to decline to pay that... which I did. I informed campsaver that I had declined the package but would be happy to accept it if it was sent, as in the past, by USPS. Well, they couldnt afford to do this so declined to resend it. Now I am waiting... more than a month later... to get my $700 back. They claim they have a tracking number for this return, but wont give me my money back until the merchandise has been returned to their warehouse. Really. Over a month later and you havent received it? I suspect it just hasnt been returned to inventory. So, I have got PayPal involved... how crazy is that? A year ago I sung the praises of this company. In fact I recommended it to several friend who purchased merchandise. This company used to go above and beyond for its Canadian customers. Guess they are only interested in America First now. Good luck with your new business ethics!
Ordered from CampSaver on Amazon. They cancelled my order and stated Cancelled by Customer. When Amazon looked into it they found that CampSaver cancelled the order. When contacted they said I would have to repurchase the items because Amazon cancelled the order. The original item was $120 full price and they had a discounted one available for $75, guess they felt that price was too low after all or maybe the already sold the item. Regardless, the customer service is poor and the company is deceiving in its practices. I'm noticing a trend when reading other reviews. Seems like I'm not the only one. CampSaver has 10% negative feedback in the last 30 days on Amazon. Maybe they like posting 5 star reviews for themselves to counter the bad ones. Who leaves good reviews for companies on unaffiliated third-party sites that didn't transact the purchase?
Email from Camron at CampSaver:
You would need to submit a new order as Amazon has cancelled this order and it never imported into our system. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.
Thanks,
Camron with CampSaver
Honor the purchase agreement and fulfill the order.
Horrible customer service. They sent the wrong pants! Trying and trying to contact them, but no answers. I am not paying to return something I didnt order! Will never buy from them again.
Disappointing. Ordered a backpack I needed for a camping trip. Not only did it not show up in time, but I had to call three times to try and find out why it hadn't been delivered for a month. Customer service was confused, said they always have tracking numbers, but mine didn't. Additionally, after a month of follow-ups, they emailed me back and said this has been happening lately, where items are not shipped. Wow... that should be red flag! Just a quick sorry and we'll refund your money. Geez... I actually needed a backpack. A true company that cared about it's customers would get another pack out immediately and offer a big discount for the trouble. I emailed back this exact request and never heard another word. DO NOT SHOP WITH THIS COMPANY!
Campsaver is a genuine US based supplier with a huge range and good value. They ship international for free if your order is >$100. They do an extra payment authorization step with several options, only one of which is available to Austraian customers, and this adds around 4-5 business days to the delivery time and is a huge hassle. I found it insulting to spend $600 with them and be accused of stealing my own credit card. For me personally it was too inconvenient for me to use them again, but if this doesn't bother you then they are a good source of great value gear.
Answer: It's legitimate- I've placed two orders - both were perfect!
