I'm really thankful for buyee for the opportunity to buy items from JP sites! But I hope you make consolidating items free tho.
I'm always very satisfied with purchasing items on Buyee. You can find many unique things for quite reasonable prices. From time to time the website offers coupons, so that the items You purchase or shipping get cheaper. The items You order are purchased reay fast. It usually also doesn't take a lot of days for them to come to the Buyee warehouse. When it comes to the Customer Service, they respond quite quickly, which is also very good. I'm generally satisfied with purchasing on Buyee.
I have purchased a lot of items on Buyee such as magazines and music products. It's a great place to find some rare items for a very reasonable price. Shipping isn't actually too expensive and comes relatively quickly! I really enjoying using Buyee I just wish the service fee wasn't 500yen as it can bump up the price of smaller items quite quickly.
I have used buyee a few times now for various items from Mercari. I've always had good experiences with them, they buy and ship out quickly and the website is easy to use. Fees are clear from the start, their communication about shipping delays this year has been good as well. I recommend them.
Lots of hidden fees and misleading prices for shipping and handling, advertising different prices for certain couriers and then turned out to be wrong.
I've been using Buyee for many years now and it's really easy to use. The bidding process on sites like Yahoo Auctions works great as well, bids are processed fast and efficiently.
They handled my orders swiftly and with care. Never had any issues with them up to date. Highly recommended!
I ordered 12 packages and I only received one. I contacted the customer service and they said their only job is to send the items and they only provided me the tracking mumber. As a result, I as the consumer should be the one responsible to look for the items and that's it. This is the most horrible experience I have ever encountered.
I have been with Buyee for over 2 years now, They offer continued 5 Star Service. Customer Service returns my emails promptly when I have a question. They have gone out of the way during the Pandemic to make sure our experience continues to be the best!
User friendly/ many choices of shopping sites/ variety of brands and products/ warm and gives prompt reply to enquiries / efficient services e. G fast trade with seller, clear status of delivery from seller to warehouse consolidation of package and postage/ free of domestic postal fee most often for items from Mercari.
Some areas that wish Buyee can give us a bonus :) e.g. Continuous free of Buyee service and payment fee / allow or encourage trade between certain sellers / shopping sites that currently blocked/ resume free of charge of storage in warehouse with no limitation of time of retention / free of consolidation fee if packages not more than five items e.g. coupons issued can be used without limitation of item price
During the 11.11 Buyee had some really also free service fee, daily coupons, free ship coupons and deals. I managed to find a doll costume for 2000 yen, paid zero service fee (which is normally 500 yen now 0 yen) and used a 500 yen free international shipping coupon! Shipping came out to be 650 yen but with the coupon I only paid 150 yen for small packet air! It was awesome... literally got the item at a discounted second hand price and literally shipping to be free... I can't wait for more coupon deals in December if there is any!
I have been using Buyee for approximately a year now, and have purchased multiple items through them from Yahoo Auctions, Mercari and Rakuten. My experiences are mostly positive, though there are things I really don't like about them.
What I find positive:
- (main reason :) ) through them I have access to items I cannot find elsewhere, or I can only find them for several times the price
- the site's built-in translation function makes it easy to know what you are purchasing
- there are at least 5 different shipping methods available, from SAL to EMS, depending on the level of tracking and protection you need
- the 30-day free storage period lets you purchase several items, and then consolidate them into one package
- during consolidation, individual packages are not opened up, they are just packed into a bigger box - some people don't like this (this makes the package bigger), but I *strongly* prefer this approach - this way I can be sure nothing gets lost or damaged during careless repackaging
- coupons and free fee offers are available often, through which you can save some money. Their 11.11 offers on Mercari were especially good (though not so good on Yahoo! JAPAN Auction)
- customer service has been helpful for me everytime I had to contact them
What I don't like:
- fees are unreasonably high, it is often not worth purchasing smaller/cheaper items because of them (for example, the minimum fee on Yahoo! JAPAN Auction auctions, without any protection or extra service, is 500 Yen - approx. 5 USD)
- on Yahoo! JAPAN Auction, fees have to be paid separately for each item bought - even if they are from the same seller, and even if the seller bundles the items. It would be nice if buyers could at least combine purchases made from the same seller
- offers and coupons are often offered only for high-value items, especially on Yahoo! JAPAN Auction (e.g.: coupons are valid for items above 10,000 YEN - way too expensive for me, I never buy items within this price range), so even though the site says they have offers often, I cannot take advantage of most of these... Luckily, offers on Mercari are usually better (no or lower minimum price required)
- the system that automatically determines prohibited items (that you are not allowed to buy) isn't really good. I have seen non-prohibited items marked as prohibited several times. You can ask customer service to review these, but sometimes they still remain incorrectly unavailable (or while customer service gets to your request, someone else buys the item...)
- sellers have a high authority, and it often happens that you are not allowed to purchase an item - or the seller cancels the purchase after you've paid for it. You get your money back automatically in these cases, but it's still very frustrating!
I've used Buyee multiple times specifically to buy anime goods from Mercari Japan. I've always been able to find what I'm looking for even when looking for rare items. Very easy to use and they often have useful coupons. Most recently when I used them they had a whole period of having no service fee, usually it would be another $5 on top of the item price so this was super useful. I'm definitely using them again.
Bought 2 f/ce sacoche with half of the original price, item were in good shape, like new, will buy again...
Horrible high fees, you have many other fees to pay like Buyee service fees 300 yen, payment fees 200 yen, plan program fees (various options) and package consolidation fees (extra 1000 yen on top of your international shipping fee), and they charge expensive international shipping (higher than other proxy companies) so many fees ended up paying a lot more than expected. Not recommended!
I have been using Buyee for almost a year now and have not once been disappointed with the awesome service they provide! I highly recommend using them over other proxy sites as they have more available shopping options!
I'm probably fortunate not to have experienced any issues with this company as far as mishaps are concerned, but being able to speak Japanese probably helps a lot (although in most cases, customer support, in the few times I've had to use it, still replies in English.)
Shipping charges are very fair, but I agree with Darren that package consolidation would be less expensive and more economical if the items were repackaged into a smaller container, though I suppose it allows for privacy of items (and in my case, I get to collect postage stamps for my personal collection) to keep it the way it currently is. Not relevant if your country of residence inspects all packages anyway (like many countries I've lived in.)
I also want to buy telephone cards for collections since I do not currently live in Japan, and Buyee is a more reliable way for me to get goods from Japan now that the pandemic does not allow me to go home to my prefecture, but I understand if import laws prohibit this.
Have used Buyee many times over the years and is satisfied with their service and most of all convenience when bidding for items. No deposit or extra fees (eg paypal charge) needed unlike some other proxy sites. Items are almost never lost in my experience. Overseas shipping charges are also fair and almost all options one can think of are available.
However, there are a couple of minuses:
1. No option to consolidate shipping for multiple purchases from the same buyer.
So if u buy 10 items from a buyer in one day, u get charged 10 shipping and 10 bank fees even if its more logical for the seller to sens u all 10 items at once, and for the charges to be paid in one go. In my view, this is the greatest flaw of Buyee as the cost can add up.
2. No option of repacking after consolidation. When the packages are conslidated, they are literally just put together into a bigger box. If they remove the original packaging during consolidation, space and weight can be saved equating to a lower cost. What's more, consolidation costs 1000 yen, which would be a nice price if repacking was done but a little steep otherwise.
3. Unable to bid for certain items. While I can understand the rationale for some categories, I am perplexed that I could not even bid for collector's prepaid cards that usually have values of just 500yen. Thankfully not all sites stick so rigidly to whichever regulation this is...
All in all, I would recommend Buyee especially for single purchases. If you are buying many items from the aame seller in one day, or your items have bulky packaging, it might be cheaper to use a different site.
Good site. Does your job. Bought some good items and all was good. Its just the plan situation that is not suficient.
Shopping at Mercari at Buyee is very simple and the service quickly orders the products we bought. I have bought clothes with Buyee and I have more orders planned. Promotions are often and their offer is beneficial for users. I recommend this service, products come well packaged.
Answer: It's a scam, at least to my definition. They lost an item I bought and claimed the warehouse is "preparing it". When I stated that I wanted a refund because it was lost (warehouse maintenance for 2+ weeks?), they told me tough luck and that they wouldn't do anything.
Answer: Well the thing is they do correspond with you, but either way they don´t understand what they wrote or they just having fun with writing useless sensless E-Mail which completley ignore the context of what you wrote to them before which is just frustrating for everybody, cause the might think, hey we are overseas... so what can they do right?!
Answer: Yes there is a website called neokyo but I think it no longer supports Mercari Japan. Best for Amazon japan and other websites. I've heard the shipping is a bit cheaper
Answer: One where I was really happy and wasn't drowned by fees? No.
Answer: Didn't know at the time when I used them that there were alternatives.
