I planted Nantes carrot seeds and about half seemed to go to bolt way too soon. I pulled the plants that bolted and found it was cilantro. The leaves are way too small to even use. I'm disappointed. I think I may find other seeds for my veggie garden.
Placed an order for 15 plants in March. Order was scheduled to ship according to my zone. Shipped late and was missing one plant with four additional dead/dying plants. Called for a replacement/refund and the system was down so I was supposed to receive a call back. Never did and had to call back myself. I had to submit photos of the plants and still didn't hear back. Called again and ordered replacement plants, although I couldn't get the same plants because they were out of stock. Over 3 weeks later I called again to see when or if the plants had shipped. Was told that they would ship the week of June 6th. I asked for a refund instead because it was past time to plant the garden. I am now waiting for the refund and will dispute with my bank if I don't receive it soon.
Ordered 24 Candybox Impatiens plants. FINALLY received them last week and what a HUGE disappointment. These plants are MINISCULE …. Not sure just what I'm going to do outside of putting them in pots so they can mature. By then it'll be the end of June. I don't know if I'm more disgusted with myself in ordering these or in trusting Burpee. There's nothing special about this particular "mix". I've purchased the same color combination at my local greenhouse for plants 4x the size of these and for far less money. Not even sure they'll survive. I could have purchased two full flats for what I have in these. Never again will I order from Burpee. You guys pretty much suck.
I purchased sweet potato slits, the wrapping was dry and the plants were dead. I called Burpee and was told the refund would not include my shipping or tax. BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE I Don't recommend buying anything from them
I would give them 0 stars if I could, they get my orders wrong, don't have a record of my orders not even on the website when you look under "my orders", they don't send out a confirmation email of what the order is and then have to wait on the phone for 1/2 to one hour to speak to someone when the order does not come. Don't rely on them to call you back it you leave a message! And to add insult to injury, I am calling them due to their error! I will never order from them again. What a waste of time! Denise
Pic: right side = $290 (20% coupon code, plus shipping) from burpee.com, left side = $288 (no coupon / discount) from local nursery.
Burpee sent me puny seedlings with black leaves and broken limbs, most with only 2-3 sets of true leaves. Completely shocking, I'm just sick over it.
Once I hear back from customer service (they requested an email with pics) I'll update.
Update: burpee got back quickly for the first time ever, prob because I put pics all over the interwebs. They refunded more than I asked for, which I really appreciate. The truth is, when I look at the plants I'm left with after the total cost I ended up spending after the refund, I still would not have payed that much for what I have if I had known what I was getting. Customer service was always a complete pain to deal with—until after I put pics up on review sites, then suddenly they were very helpful. Thank you for trying to make it right, Burpee, but I really will not be back for more.
*******900 choose 0 explained my concern for an order. Called me back quickly after the first call to *******447 which was hard to hear. Kind, professional, helpful to confirm and track my order. Quality seed, best tasting, hard to find varieties, have and will buy from Burpees for years.
I purchased seeds on January 19th 2022 the tracking number they gave me was a fake one every time I looked it up it said no information on tracking at this time and here I am 7 Days Later trying to get a refund call the company and get hung up on I now see why this company gets to Stars absolutely horrible customer service and they're thieves they take your money and never send you your product they will be hearing from my lawyer
I have not received my rather substantial order of seeds from this company in over a month. I contacted them for the second time today and they were extremely rude and refused to issue me a refund, which was requested after it became clear that there was no guarantee that I would ever get my seeds. Their answers were nonsensical and inconsistent. It turns out, they are quite dishonest. This saddens me as this was part of a themed holiday gift for my husband for our new house.
Please don't ruin your gardening experience by buying seeds from this company who clearly does not care about its customers.
I have purchased my seeds and plants for burpee for 30 years, and my father did before me. It is with great disappointment that I find myself unable to continue to do so.
For the last 4 years I have purchased the heirloom tomato collection. The first year it was excellent. 6 plants, 4 varieties of heirloom plants, great flavors, healthy and productive.
The second year two of the plants were not heirlooms, instead they were Burpee Big Boy Hybrid tomatoes. A very nice tomato, but not what I ordered. They automatically sent me a coupon to allow me to get two free tomatoes the next year.
The next year I used that coupon, but still got two hybrid tomatoes. Hmm. Odd but I put it down to the coupon and went on with life.
In 2020 I received 6 tomatoes, 3 of which were Hybrids. Not Heirlooms. Not what I ordered or wanted. When I called to see what the deal was, I was told that Hybrids were Heirlooms. Clearly not true and very disappointing that they thought I was so stupid.
I won't be buying anything from Burpee anymore. I'll buy my plants at the local greenhouse, which, although they have a smaller selection, doesn't treat me like an idiot and fully appreciates my business. Should have been doing that all along.
Very poor germination for the Tomato seeds that I ordered and the Peppers never germinated. The seeds from Ferry Morse all came up! No more Burpee for me, this isn't the first problem that I've had and they are over priced anyway.
I have ordered with burpee on 3 separate occasions. The first time the starters arrived very delayed. I tried to get in touch with them on separate occasions and was only told they ship in zones. I ordered 3 months prior to zone shipping but gave them the benefit of the doubt that it was my fault. Thankfully the plants looked beautiful when they arrived and were very fruit full.
Second order, again delayed but this time half the plants were not salvageable and the others did not produce.
Third and final order was for 3 different types of garlic. Again took over 2 months for them to arrive without any form of communication from them. On arrival I received one package of garlic and it wasn't even the correct kind. Currently am still waiting for them to respond to my complaint.
I bought Provider Bush beans and mixed in with my planted bed there is a climber vine of a flat bean! It must have been mixed in with the Provider beans, AND I ordered 3 sweet (Good as Gold, Golden Baby Belle & Tangerine Dream) lunch box type peppers, one packet didn't germinate and another is red hot peppers! I won't be buying from them again.
Bought string-less green beans in beginning of July, Planted as instructed. Waited 3/4 weeks, NONE germinated. Called Burpee and was told there had been a problem with that particular seed. Was told they would send a string-less French green bean package as replacement. Three weeks later no beans. Called this morning and was told USPS indicated that it was delivered to my mailbox. Upon verifying my address, it was discovered that the package was sent to a customer with the same name who resides in a different state! It is now second week in August. I doubt that I will get these planted and harvested before cooler fall temps. Whole experience was a huge disappointment, And I even paid top dollar for the seeds. Next time, I will purchase from the Dollar Store.
Bought burpee sweet pea old spice mix seeds for $2.79. Worked diligently to follow growing instructions. Started seeds early in ingested greenhouse, pinched plants at proper time. Planted outdoors on June 1. Plants grew nicely but blooms were all dark purple and only two flowers per stem. What a disappointment. All my work and patience for pathetic failure. I'll never trust burpee seeds again. Doubt if they care but wanted to warn other plant lovers.
We understand that plants must be shipped based on the Zone that you are going to plant in. However when seeds are ordered late winter they should be shipped as quickly as possible so the seeds can be started indoors and be ready for planting when the time is correct. We have to say that the seeds and plants are excellent quality.
Burpee seeds are junk, 2 years in a row now ruined my harvest. Out of 160 corn seeds
Only 11 germinated. 280 green beans 17 grew. Lima beans 280 only 2 germinated. All in
All total seeds planted 1100 only had about a 27% germination rate (roughly). It is to late
To start over for this season. I will never buy your seeds again. I also found that most
Of your seeds come from other countries not the USA. Thank You burpee for ruining my
Grow season again.
I ordered 6 live plants on 5/13/21, they were planned to ship on 5/17 due to the zone I live in. I received 5 of 6 plants in my order on 6/2/21. The cilantro and parsley were almost completely dead and the basil had been damaged with the biggest stalk broken in half. I called customer service on 6/3/21 to notify them of the error and need for a refund. They stated that I should send pictures online to their website and that they would issue the refund since they were having issues with their system. I called again Tuesday June 8th to get an update on the status of the refund and they said that they were still having issues with their system but I "should" be receiving an update on it within 2-3 weeks. I have already purchased replacement plants since mine were all dead. I asked to speak to a supervisor that refused to offer any type of credit toward another product and that there was nothing else they could do. I understand at times systems can go down but in this instance they refuse to provide a credit for another product or any clear indication of when my refund issue will be resolved.
This company is incompetent and I do not recommend ordering plants online to be shipped, they obviously don't know how to properly ship live plants or care if you receive them in good quality or not
Burpee uses massive amounts of rigid plastic to ship plants. Other vendors avoid plastic and the plants arrive in good shape. I will not purchase plants from Burpee until they replace their plastic shipping material.
If they cared about our opinion they'd actually put some seeds in the packets. 13 tomato seeds - Three grew. Two fizzled out early. All my own seeds are strong & happy.
