Most inept bunch. They cannot sell outside the US.

Despite this you can sign up to their spam. They spam me everyday but
I cannot even purchase anything. Useless and lazy. I sent at least 15
Emails over past free days and no one has responded to any of them.

The ineptperson assisting me initially said they need the address to
Ship ebooks... Now, really. Are you so dense that you do not know the
Difference between a physical product and a digital one? Why are they
Spamming Non-US citizens if they are not legally allowed to sell to us?

Why must I waste my time setting up an account if I cannot order? Why
Must I be prepared to spend $400+ but you cannot even sell to me>
Utter waste of time.

Inept and lazy staff. Dishonest advertising and spam.
Reason of review: Return, Exchange or Cancellation Policy.
Preferred solution: Stop lying to the world and wasting people's
Time. How can you sell ebooks but can't sell them outside US. Why can
You spam me EVERY SINGLE DAY but I am not allowed to even buy ebooks.
YOU DO NOT POST EBOOKS. State on your website that non-US not welcome.

I didn't like:
Service,
Poor shipping
Procecures,
Shipping - lack thereof - and customer service.

Did not deliver
May 31, 2018

I tried to get help at my local store which is Johnson City, Tn. To no avail. Then I called the customer service number and got even less help. Will not be using this business again.

E Book would not download and no help from them. Got nothing but a download link that would not download. Talked with first help person that asked for my acct # and by the time I came back they were gone. Second one asked the same question again and said I needed to download an adobe file... which I did and still no luck... then she was gone! Grrrr... third person which I think was # 1 person came back and said I need to login... but no obvious login area... asked for a refund... would not recommend... to anyone!

Neglectful Shipping
August 2, 2017

Purchase 2 x 1 out of 50 made comics. Kind or rare. Receive them in a soft bubble envelop with two smaller pieces of cardboard. As such they had edges dented which massively decreases the value. To top it off the $3.99 had a $15 price tag on it that they were selling to me at $20. A copy of the same comic is now selling on eBay for $75.

Their response was, 10% discount or return for full refund. They would not even. Then they shut me down once I asked for the next supervisor.

Membership is a scam
May 17, 2017

Some interesting merchandise, but everything is overpriced.

I purchased a membership online to get a discount on several hard-to-find items. Two months later, my order was cancelled since those items apparently weren't in-stock as they had claimed. When I tried to get a refund for my (now useless) membership, they just said "no" since it was past 30 days. I sure am feeling scammed by this company!

BAM renewed my book club membership for $25 without my authorization. They're refunding the charge, but I have to wait 1-3 days for the refund money to hit my bank account. Why is that? They certainly leapt to remove the money -- why is there a delay in getting it back to me? In the interim I'll get an overdraft since payday isn't until Wednesday and funds were very low. Thanks for nothing, BAM. The book club membership was a total waste of money, and now your corporate greed and trick to bilk customers will cost me another $35 at the bank. I will never shop here again.

Do not use this! They suck..
June 24, 2016

I ordered books and can't even read them because of the format they use. I have been ordering books from Amazon, Google, Kobe, etc. for yrs, I have never had a problem. I decide to buy a card in the store because they had no books I was looking for in the store and now not only I can't read what I bought, and they don't refund ebooks but I could not find one book I was really looking for. You have to download adobe digital spreader which is not available in any store but the Android, who reads from their phones? I bought a kindle to read books so I didn't have to use a huge laptop or a wee little phone. I will never use this site or go in the bookstore again. No wonder I don't see many of these bookstores around. I'm just glad I didn't get a 50$ card like I was going to and at the last minute changed my mind. Can't even read any of the books I bought...

You suck!
March 14, 2016

I have never in my entire life dealt with a company that is so unhelpful! I ordered a book through the store and that was 20 days ago! I still have not received it! The store could not figure out where the book was, so I asked for a refund, and they gave me the customer service phone number after speaking directly with the store 3 different times. I spoke with the the customer service rep, and she had the personality of a cucumber. She let me know that the postal service had it and that Books a Million could not help with that, and I let her know that was not my problem, because the postal service cannot give refunds. How ridiculous!?!?! Who says that do an irate customer, who simply wants to be refunded their money?!?!? The book was supposed to arrive within 14 days or less, and we are at 20. Do the math Books a Million, you suck!

Books A Million is a good bookseller. The books they sell seem to be more on the "used" side for being sold as "New". The stores allow customers to handle the books and even start reading them before purchasing, which i presume is the cause of some of the books looking a bit tattered.
The selections in store is good, but not great. The store is heavy on fiction, sci-fi and biographys. The store is not very balanced. Having one shelf labeled "religion" and 2 or three rows of shelves for christian reading. Being from an are with a large "free thinking" population, you would think they would tailor the selection based on what the majority of customers want (Or at least even out the selection).

Books a million has a very odd returns policy. Considering they sell books that are not always pristine, they have a strict return policy. Sometimes they wont accept a return because of the books condition. I find this funny because they didnt have a problem selling it to me like that.

Considering there are no other book sellers within 50 miles of my home, i dont have much choice unless i want to solely buy books online. Before the e-reader craze started and booksellers started to go under, Borders books also occupied the same shopping center. How BAM survived and Borders didnt dumbfounds me. I would rather have Borders, but books a million is fine too.

BAM is a discounter
May 30, 2012

BAM is a discounter. They sell markdowns, offloads et cet. From major chains(Oh, are there any left!). I generally don't do too much business with this company, but when I have never had a problem. They're mainly heavy on fiction and bios. They do have good deals, frequently. There shipping is fair, and they do notify of any delays, or problems with delivery.
Frankly, I prefer other companies, but will occasionally purchase books from them
