Beware if you buy anything online and then try to return it. They have a 30-day return requirement, but their process requires you to send an email to them, then they email you back an authorization code. I emailed them for over 45 days trying to get an authorization code to return my items. When I did finally get a response they said - "we are sorry - it has been more than 30 days" but you should consider donating your books or gifting them. As if I need help from them trying to figure out what to do with the items I ordered. They are a total scam when buying online and trying to return.
I purchased an item that was said to be "in stock" and the site had cancelled my order and took my $15 without providing me a refund. I contacted their support twice after finding this out by looking for item updates on their website and WEEKS later after contacting them they simply answered that the "transaction was cancelled", yet they still charged my bank and the transaction was STILL there, $15 taken out of my bank from Books A Million. I have never gotten my money back, and this was back in January 2021. Do not recommend.
Its taken two months to get one of two books and only because I had to stay on them. Four weeks after the order i emailed customer service to inquire about my order. On THAT day they initiated the order. One book shipped. On the day I received the one book i emailed again. Hey, where's my other book. This was yesterday. Today the 2nd book shipped. The initial order was in January. Its mid March. Just dont bother. They will certainly charge your card quickly.
Cancelled my naruto sage of six paths pop for no reason few months later after I pre ordered it when the funko fair went live.
Ordered for 160ish pre xmas as a back-order. They cancelled 2 months later and re-listed the item at $214.99. What a horrible company. Also, any emails you send or customer service response takes them an entire month. It doesn't take a month to reply to an email. Never using this garbage site again.
This company is absolute trash. I ordered a product on their website. When I ordered it, they said they had it in stock and it was ready to ship. Then two days after I ordered it they say that they no longer have it in stock and now need to back order. This is ridiculous as they had lied to me. I do not appreciate being lied to so I go to cancel the order and it says that it will not cancel because the order because it is "pending" which I can only assume means that it hasn't even shipped or been set up yet. It ordered this book before Christmas, they lied to me, they do not have the book, and they won't cancel it. Absolute garbage. Go to a good book store instead.
I ordered a calendar December 6,2020. It is December 19,2020 and the item is still not here. The tracking link on their order confirmation does not work. I called Customer Service and they are blaming USPS, saying it takes 14-15 business days to receive an order because USPS is backed up. Very strange - other online orders I placed this year arrived timely or with only a slight delay. Certainly not 14-15 days! What is their game? I will never order from them again.
I placed an online order for a book for a Christmas present on 12/9/20. BooksAMillion accepted my order but within hours notified me that the book was unavailable, would be backordered and could take up to 4 weeks to ship. The delay was unacceptable. I found the same book on another site and ordered there. I tried to cancel my BAM order but it was marked "pending" in their system and the website tells me a "pending" order cannot be cancelled. I don't know why BAM has an issue cancelling an order that hasn't been shipped yet. I tried cancelling by email, too, but got no response to my emailed request. I called the customer service number they included in the email advising me my book was on backorder *******550). I was on hold for almost 40 minutes, but the customer service rep did cancel my order. I just received an email confirming the order is cancelled. Given the fact that they accepted my order when they didn't have the book to sell and the hassle I had trying to cancel the order, I will not be using BAM for any future orders.
I ordered books to be shipped to family. Audio books instead were shipped to me. I called within an hour of receiving them and was told that they were non refundable and couldn't explain the shipping mistake.
Ordered 5 books, received only 3. Still charged for all 5. I have been asked customer 'support' for assistance in 5 separate messages: not one response. Took my money, failed to deliver, failed to respond.
This was my first and last experience with these crooks.
Website is riddles with bugs, especially on mobile. Get ready to have your email inbox flooded with marketing emails every day. Unsubcribe links don't work, pages throw 404 errors, no email preferences to be found. You have to email them to simply get unsubscribed and customer service won't reply.
Book selection is extremely average and purhcase options are sub-par. Stay away.
I placed an order for a book on November 26 2020. I was told it was in stock with limited availability and would ship in 2 to 4 weeks. They proceeded to charge my credit card. I then recieved an email that my order was cancelled and this book was no longer available. I have been fighting to get my money back. I've sent 2 emails and got the same email both times that told me nothing. I haven't got any response from anyone on my problem. All I want is my money back so that I can wash my hands of this place. I ordered over 130 dollars of product from here, they sent it to me in two shipments. 10 different books in two shipments split 4 in the first and 6 in the second. I received the second shipment today and it contained ONE of the six books that their website said it would contain. Honestly if I could give zero stars I would its THAT terrible. Based on reviews on here I'd say their customer service is going to be absolutely useless in resolving this issue. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF
I love this store as well but alot of books that I am looking for be on Amazon and although amazon is cool I don't want to read on kindle. So that where you guys come in and the problem with you guys is that I need more options in books and options on how I would like to receive my ebooks. I like that you give other authors a chance that amazon didn't give them, but I need the selection to be like amazon I need ALL the books. ALL of them. From the no so famous to the super famous. I need that from you.
Bought books 8/8/2020... still waiting. Covid is to blame, no wait hurricanes are to blame. Problem is Amazon and every other business is fine with shipping. Never, ever again.
I ordered an e book. There is only one option to download and it is NOT support by my computer. I contacted service but no one has helped to resolve it. They took my money and I still don't have a book. It has been over a week. DON'T TRUST THIS WEBSITE!
I ordered a book to read over the holidays on December 2nd. I recently received an email that it was on its way on JUNE 22nd. I have since moved from that shipping address and won't be receiving the book. Customer service refused a refund because I could not return the book that I did not receive. They said I had to wait 30 days for the books to be returned by the person that is receiving it at my previous address. Most companies would simply send a new book to the proper address. Books-A-Million had the worst return/refund policy and I was blamed for not keeping up with the release date of the book that the publisher had pushed back.
I had 2 orders. I paid $12.99 for 2-3 day shipment for my mom, she got her books immed, but i didn't. I had reg del, and no books.
I ordered a book in October from Books-A-Million that appeared to be in stock. There was a note on the book's webpage that said something like "Ready to ship by September 23" (not sure if that was the exact verbiage or date, but you get the gist :)) I placed my order, and their system allowed it. A day later, I got an automated email that said that the book was in pre-order status. Which sounded odd, if it's ready to ship already. I emailed customer service, and they told me it's backordered. So what was the status - in stock, pre-order, or backordered? Because the item (a signed version of a bestselling book) was sold out on almost every other online site I checked, I found this all suspicious. I also saw that a few days after I placed my order, the status of the book on their website became "Unavailable". I emailed customer service at least twice asking directly "Is the book in stock and am I guaranteed a copy since I ordered it before it became unavailable?" All I got was runaround answers like "that pending charge on your credit card should drop off, we only charge when the item ships". Okay, will it ship? No direct answer. Thank goodness I read between the lines and ordered the book from Amazon while I was still waiting for a direct answer from Books-A-Million. I received the book from Amazon in the mail within a week, and is the signed version I wanted. Book chains should be careful, because they are being replaced by giants like Amazon (who I hate by the way - but resorted to using them since Books-A-Million was giving me the runaround). Customer service is what sets stores apart and makes them last. Will not be buying from this store again. All they had to say was "I'm sorry that our system allowed you to purchase an unavailable book. We updated our system to reflect its current status." and then this bad review would not have been necessary.
I don't even remember clicking purchase button n it pushed my order through. The platform they use to read the ebooks is limited and sucks! I'd say the bad reviews r accurate. Don't bother
