I was very pleased with bookoutlet's pricing, updates, and the quality of the books received. They weren't as new, but i wasn't expecting them to be. The only issue i had was one with shipping (the package was not at my building the day bookoutlet's site and the canadapost shipping site said it was, rather, the next day), but i don't think that's their fault. I ordered 4 books— 3 for myself and 1 for a friend— and am very pleased overall. Would recommend!
It's always good to find some forgotten gems; a simple author search yields any stock that they have available. The books came within a week of ordering, and they were well-packed and received in good shape.

This was my first experience with Book Outlet. I found most of the titles I was looking for. What I loved was the books were in really good condition. The stickers on it can be easily removed. The shipping wasn't too delayed considering the pandemic. Overall very happy!
I love the books I received and am glad I took the chance to order from here. Delivery was fast and secure. I'm in a high-rise, so that's important to get my orders! The books are in great condition, I am already deeply engrossed into one. This is a treat as our Library isn't open and shopping here for books is even easier, I read reviews of each before buying, and am happy with my new books.
I just received my first purchase from Book Outlet and was pleasantly surprised to find all of the books in excellent condition. I was concerned to buy since I didn't know what to expect in terms of quality and pricing, especially for some very new releases. My things arrived in a little over a week, and nothing was missing. I'll most likely order books again, and I'm just hoping everything goes smoothly.

What a wonderful store! It's super easy to navigate and there are so many options to choose from! Despite the disclaimer of the books possibly having small damage, my books are absolutely nothing to complain about. Absolutely recommend buying from here.

Also prefer paying using PayPal but BookOutlet wants to store my PayPal info for automatic payments. I have never encountered that with purchases online hence ended up using a card I don't normally use for other purchases. Not happy that I as the consumer do not get a choice of whether I would like to store my card with you or not! I do NOT mind at all typing it in each time, rather than having it "safe" with online merchandisers.

Great customer service, great prices but website could definitely be more user friendly, however The Book Outlet has very dedicated staff.
I placed an order a few weeks ago. When it arrived, one of the books was missing. So I contacted customer service to let them know. Rather than offer me a replacement, they jumped the gun and sent me a refund. So I told them, I don't want a refund, I want a replacement. The reason: I bought the book on sale, and the sale was over. One customer service rep told me that the inventory was too low, and gave a convoluted explanation for why this would prevent them from sending a replacement. Another customer service rep told me that they didn't send a replacement because the book wasn't out of stock when the refund was issued, and subsequently came back in stock (which I knew to be false). When I pressed the issue, I was sent the following message: "I feel it is in the best interest of both parties that we part ways in this consumer relationship. While this isn't easy to say, I do think that another company may be a better fit for you and your specific needs.We will be closing your account effective immediately..." So much for customer service.
I've ordered from them 6 times and referred them multiple new customers. I've unfortunately had to deal with customer service twice now both times they've done exactly nothing to solve the problem.
In this instance I made 2 separate orders in one night totaling over $100. The second order made was not over the free shipping threshold. So I made the order and IMMEDIATELY followed up with them giving them reference to both orders asking them to put the 2 orders together and refund the shipping fee.
This is their exact response:
"Hi Jeff, Thank you for your ticket. Unfortunately, we do not have the ability to combine orders. They were placed at different times and will process separately; a refund cannot be processed for the shipping cost. Should you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us again. Kind regards, Vanessa"
I followed up with them and received the manager who gave me an excuse to which I followed up on. Then he simply closed the ticket with no response!
As a small/local business you have the possibility to shine with your customer service but this is such a sad excuse of a response, no effort or case given at all.
If you cared to solve an issue for a frequent customer the solution is extremely simple however now you'll be reviewed negatively on every site I can find and you will lose my business. Congratulations.
