The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to inadequate customer service and a lack of accountability. Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. While some customers appreciate the variety of accommodations offered, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust in the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance its customer service responsiveness and take greater responsibility for the listings it promotes.

I booked a room at hotel through booking.com, which they listed as being close to the airport and turns out its 45 mins away. I called booking to cancel my reservation and they contacted hotel whom they claim said they would not cancel my reservation. My husband decided to call the hotel himself and they were very kind and had no problem canceling my room and refunding me my money.
They released my data to the hotel. The hotel (in France) charged my credit card without authorization. I ended up canceling the booking one month prior tot he cancellation deadline because of this. Hotel admitted to accidentally charging the account but refused to refund the money. Booking.com made me just through hoops and provide same documents several times. Since tho whole thing was taking close to a month I went ahead and disputed the charge with my credit company.
Beware of booking.com. If there are any problems with your booking, they will let you down. Worst customer support experience of my life.
Booking.com is fine if nothing goes wrong. When it does they take no responsibility. Their point system has no obvious logic and they seem to mainly accept only positive reviews. Try to find a hotel with less than 5 points. It is a pity because integrity is everything on the internet, and when it's gone it's gone.
I booked a room at Hotel Du Midi in Narbonne, France on booking.com. The hotel is supposed to be completely non-smoking - at least that is how it was presented on booking.com. When we arrived, we found out that the room heavily smelled cigarette smoke. In fact I have strong evidence that there are no non-smoking rooms in this hotel.
But this review is not about the hotel - it is about Booking. When I contacted Booking and gave them compelling evidence that they cannot advertise the rooms at Hotel du Midi as non-smoking, after long back and forth over email, they refused to take any action. The hotel is still advertised as non-smoking on booking.com. TRAVELERS CANNOT TRUST INFORMATION ABOUT HOTELS POSTED ON BOOKING.COM.
Terrible... I booked a hotel in Sarrasota and when we went to the hotel, there was no room for us. We were directed a terrible hotel and had to stay there... when I complained later to Booking.com, they did not do anything... terrible service...
I booked a hotel through booking.com. I did not receive a confirmation of the booking and therefore did not proceed with that option. As it turned out, the booking had come through and there is a note in booking. Coms system that the confirmation was sent. As a result I'm paying for a hotel night that I didn't use.
I used to make all my reservation from booking. In particular coming to Shanghai at Metropark... always it has been possible to freely change the dates... I made a reservation confident on that... but this time it was different and not said until I received the confirmation! Which I did not read on all the small letters... 2 days after the reservation it was not possible to make any change. The 100% will be charged. Reading the confirmation text... it is an escrow from booking. NEVER MORE ANY RESERVATION WITH BOOKING. I am so angry... Booking used to be very good... but now they are strong, they cheat the Hotels and the Customers.
Their ad was for $109 a night for Zona hotel. Booked 3 nights & was charged $417 total, and in fine print, "not including 15% tax & $45 service fee." Talked to Joanie and the supervisor, who were very rude and confrontational, basically said "nothing we can do, the hotel changed their rates." Don't ever go through booking.com! Now I see why there are so many horrible reviews about this place. The rate shown on the site is just an illusion to lure you in and the customer service is lazy, rude and heartless, they won't do anything except to basically tell you "there's nothing we can do, it's your fault for booking."
I made a reservation on Thursday for 1 day on Friday night in a hotel at San Marcos and double checked to make sure the date of arrival and departure is correct in booking.com website. To my surprise, I noticed that in the confirmation page, they moved the date to Thursday, that was the day I booked. Immediately, in a matter of seconds, I called the customer service to cancel or move my reservation for Friday. They asked over twice the price for Friday booking and told me that I even can not cancel the booking as it is more than 1 day. So tricky, so clever, so Cheat! BEAWARE of them! Now I wasted all my money to pay for 1 day reservation in the hotel.
The customer service is absolute awful. There is no point using there services. Be aware you will not be able cancel. You better off going directly to the hotel or using another service.
This happen to me last week. I have booked a room at Sunset Business Hotel in Busan on 6 may 2013. The booking condition terms say that I can cancel the booking without any charge if I cancel a day before travel.
I have cancel the booking two days after I made booking. Unfortunately, booking.com has charge me!
I phone the hotel several times and ask about that (I have talk to general manager) and they said that their hotel policy will never charge their customers until they have registered for their room.
Then I give a call to the bank to ask about my credit card charge. They said that the amount (KRW *******) was already charged in my credit card bill at the same day I made the booking using booking.com under the name "KOLON CNC RESORT 150 BUSAN".
I never heard that name and I could not retrieve the any information when I google the name. Basically, I was robbed by booking.com. I will NEVER EVER used this site to make any reservation again. My advice to other, DO NOT trust this site and NEVER make any booking using this site.
I gave 1 star just because there are no other types of star to reflect the thief.
Booked a hotel via advertising seen on Booking.com, Kare Suite Nisantasi. Nothing about the hotel matched its advertising on Booking.com, starting with the location. Instead of being in the "fashionable district of Nisantasi" as claimed in the advertisement, it was in a warren of dark and dirty alleys, 500 meters from the nearest major street. Everything in the area closed down after 6PM and the lights were turned off. The streets were then inhabited by ragpickers going thru piles of fabric remnants left on the street by the garment manufacturers in the area. There were NO stores or restaurants within 500 meters of the hotel. The hotel does not have a sign with its name on it. There is only a door with a buzzer in a graffiti-covered wall.
I left the hotel after two nights because I felt distinctly unsafe in the neighborhood and in the hotel itself. The hotel seemed to be inhabited by young men lounging on their hotel beds, with their doors open. The hotel charged me the length of my entire stay, nine nights. When I tried to resolve this with Booking.com, the hotel told them that I was a NO-SHOW. Booking.com believed the hotel and told me to resolve it with the hotel. Booking.com is complicit in false advertising and in aiding and abetting scams. It is only thanks to their advertising that I learned about this scam hotel, yet they take no responsibility. Booking.com is a criminal enterpirse that scams their customers.
Horrible service! I made a reservation for a specific date in June, booking.com erroneously or on purpose booked it for May. Hotels charged me for not showing up in May. I called Booking.com, they very rude and unfriendly with me. They simply robbed me.
I reserved a hotel thru booking.com, then cancelled >2 days beforehand when plans changed. I was charged a 100% cancellation fee! I'm sure this is "legal" somewhere in their policy. Never, ever, use Booking.com.
I have reserved on 10/04 5* apartment for 4 persons in the center of Warsaw which looked very appealing also with very high review notes at booking.com (Fabulous, 8.7).
To my surprise booking confirmation received few minutes later was for another apartment offered by the owner of Platinum Towers E-Apartments, but in another (most ugly in Warsaw soviet style building), only for 1 person but with the price for 4 persons. As I was sure there was no mistake from my side (I had a print screen made during reservation) I thought there will be no problems with correction of the booking. Apartment owner told me what we booked is indeed not in the Platinum Towers but she cannot help me as all apartments in Platinum Towers are occupied already.
As per booking policy of booking.com I was unable to cancel this booking and having no other option (booked at the day of check in) we accepted the keys although the apartment did not correspond to our reservation and even to the booking confirmation sent by booking.com. Had no parking place for the car, was for smoking instead of non-smoking, dirty and stinky, below any stars and norms. After payment by cash to the apartment owner, she cancelled our booking explaining to booking.com that we have not appeared for check-in.
After our return home we have written a claim to booking.com, describing the whole situation and sending them the print screens of our initial booking and what have we received (detailed pictures of the apartment we got).
Customer Service replied, they are not able to audit every partner and promised me to reverse the cancellation and give me the possibility to make a rating of this apartments.
So far claim is closed, my booking is still cancelled... and apartment owner cheats further customers on this '5* apartment at Platinum Towers'(which pictures are enclosed)... and everybody is satisfied: owner gets customers from booking.com and booking.com gets provision on every booking... maybe except customer who cannot cancel his booking made based on the fake information & pictures from this site.
Went on Easyjet hotel website to book a hotel only to discover that Easyjet now use Booking.com, no probs, thought that because Easyjet are a reputable company it must be ok to book with Booking.com. However, did not realise that my credit card details are given to the hotel and payment does not occur for over 2 days in which time the price I was quoted has risen due to fluctuations in the exchange rate, so the 'cheapest price with no add ons' I was promised on the site I booked through is a complete farce. Have rung to complain and demand that they ring the hotel and ask for immediate payment to be made so that further fluctuations in price will not occur, but hotel staff said payment could not go through until tomorrow morning, meaning the price will probably go up again.
Will NEVER use Easyjet or Booking.com again, usually use Travelrepublic and have never had these problems.
No monitoring of suppliers. Often says things like only two rooms left when the hotel only has 34or five rooms anyway. The is annoying resetting preferences and its concept of popularity is misleading. For booking.com even if you hated a place it is still considered popular. The hotel prices fluctuate and you can find yourself paying over the odds for out of season unpopular destinations.
It fails to reflect accurately quality and in terms of value for money the local tourist office is a better option.
Its also a difficult and time consuming process to delete posts once you have realised all of the above
Firstly, I find the Booking.com website and android app very good. I have booked many hotels through their site. I check the reviews and generally make my decision after careful consideration. This theory is fine if it wasn't for the fact that Booking.com do not allow negative reviews.
My wife and I stayed at the Best Western Hotel in Krabi, Thailand. Everything was great until the hotel security accused my wife of being a prostitute. This was quite upsetting and an apology was eventually rung out the staff. What I found depressing was that when I asked to speak to the hotel manager in order to voice my opinion he asked his staff who I had booked with. When he was told Booking.com he refused to even speak to me. The conclusion I drew was that had I have booked with another company that had some clout I would have received an apology but as I booked through Booking.com I wasn't worth even speaking too.
I posted a review stating exactly what happened. My review was refused!
Conclusion, be careful about reviews on Booking.com, clearly negative reviews are not permitted. Customers of Booking.com may be treated as the lowest of the low.
This is the response from Booking.com, I assume poetic license is the keyword with Booking.com...
We have approved the score you left for the hotel but we will not be able to display the comments. The reason for this is that the review comment fields are exclusively for positive and negative comments about the hotel. All complaints about Booking.com should be addressed to our customer service team for further investigation.
There are a lot of "accommodation suppliers" which overstate the facilities which their property has to offer. Booking.com does not do any vetting of their suppliers and takes their word on what they are offering. I recently booked a bungalow from one of their suppliers and upon check in it turned out to be worse than a barn and the supplier advertised many features which did not exist (restaurant, WiFi, 24 hour front desk, kitchen facilities, breakfast included, etc.
Upon doing some research it turns out there have been many fraud artists using booking.com to carry out their fraudulent money making schemes. Booking.com is turning out to be nothing more than an agent for criminal fraud. There are steps being taken to prosecute booking.com for being an accomplice to criminal fraud. Stay away.
Booking.Com customer service is awful! We booked a hotel room through Booking.Com but then had a change in plans and cancelled through the Booking.Com website. Or at least we thought we did; the click-through was a bit funky but it appeared to go through. When we were billed anyway by the hotel, we called Booking.Com customer service and got the run-around, transferred from one to another, "supervisors" who were unavailable, and "I'm sorry, we can't help you." What a horrible experience!
Answer: In my case they took my payment information and paid the hotel where I was going to be staying. Only to find out that the hotel was out of business and I had to prove that it was charged to my account. They did not find me a replacement hotel to stay in for the same price. Nor did they care that I was left without a place to stay. So beware before you purchase.
Answer: Don't waste time with booking.com. They have horrible customer service and will make every attempt to cheat you. Simply report the problem to your credit card company to get your refund.
Answer: Run. Run away. This company and the company used to insure their bookings are scams.
Answer: booking.com has horrible customer service. Don't use them.
Answer: You pay a non refundable price on line. When you check into your hotel, it's billed to your Bookings.com reservation plus incidentals (local calls, parking fees, resort fees, dining, bar fees, Europe charges local or city tax, spa fees...) the hotel will ask for a card as a hold for these fees. Use bookings.com, find the hotel you wish to stay in (get all info and contact them directly via website and price match) the Marriott in Rome had a room for $80.00 less on the Marriott website than these, so called MONEY SAVING SITES.
Answer: Can you please explain why you think Booking.com is not trustworthy please?
Answer: It depends on the hotel some don't charge until you arrive at hotel more will charge your card straight away check your booking it should tell you there
Answer: Trevago is hooked into Booking.com don't make a mistake and let trevago send you to booking.com go to Hotel.com which is more professional. I had to go to American Express customer serviced to complain and they gave a dead line for explanation. They had no explanation for crappy service and had to repay me.
Answer: You will need to pay taxes in addition to the quoted price. Call the motel and they will tell you about the taxes. A few places still don't charge exttra taxes e.g. Harris Ranch in California.
Answer: You can't. That's the whole idea. You provide a service, and your customers get to give their review of your place and your services.
Booking.com provides online bookings of hotels, resorts, hostels, and other travel accommodations around the world. The site attempts to separate itself from rival reservation sites by offering deals and its own hotel reviews. Booking.com is a subsidiary of Priceline.com, a publicly traded company (Nasdaq: PCLN).

Hi Alexander, I'm sorry to hear this, I contacted the hotel and was assured they don't have any smoking areas. Please provide me with your booking number if you want me to investigate.
