Sales rep did a poor job explaining the details - as it turned out, I was being charged $36 per click when the budget was limited to $15 per day. I was also told that they would handle editing the ad to look a certain way - it wasn't until I called that I was told that they couldn't edit the ad - no communication. When I called customer service, it was almost as if they were expecting the call - they did nothing to try to keep my business - I guess they are used to getting calls cancelling the service.
The Yelp sales people do a great job selling the marketing product, but it is NOT worth it, and it is virtually impossible to understand and predict what you will be charged in a month. You have virtually NO way of verifying the activity they show for your ad/website, how many "clicks," or anything about their "magic formula." I only wish I had done more research before signing up.
If you don't pay them to advertise with them, they feature only the bad reviews and hide all your positive reviews. I am surprised people still trust them. Yelp is a Scam! They should be shut down!
They should be put in jail. People are starting to catch on that their reviews are all bogus. They are nothing but a bunch of criminals, using blackmail and extortion as a business weapon. Why aren't the authorities doing something about it. Someone must be getting payed off. Yelp has deep pockets.
I had Emily called me to advertise on Yelp I was going on vacation then so I have told her to call me back she called me a few times but I very wrong timing when we finally read all the reviews and we decided not to move forward and I told her that I wasn't going to move forward she was very nasty to tell me that I should have told her a month ago she wouldn't have wasted her time maybe in the future I will have thought of putting my business in Yelp but after that response in the way that she reacted though it's my answer I will never use this company very very pushy
This company is a total SCAM! Some people trust them and look up business throughout their website, however reviews on their website are not legit. You can gets ads on Yelp and they will pop up your business first among others with much better reviews and so on whoever pays more gets first place.
Another thing is if you are a business owner they will delete your legit positive reviews if you don't advertise with them. However if you don't pay them and someone ever wrote smth bad that review will stay there forever even though the account was freshly created by he person who wrote that negative review.
I really home this SCAM MAFIA business will be closed eventually and better sooner because they represent false info to so many people who think they are doing good things.
SCAMMERS! SHAME ON YOU
My biz averages 1000 views on Google each month and 4 on Yelp. People don't use it. They scam business owners out of money trying to get them to advertise. Also, this dude Spencer calls us 2-3x/week every single week trying to get us to advertise with them. We have his calls blocked but he keeps trying to bug us constantly. Take the hint Spence - your company sucks and you are way too pushy. Also, many customers have left me 5 star reviews on Yelp and yelp won't publish any of them. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS. Also, they send FAKE requests to make it seem like people actually use them. I respond immediately to quote requests from potential customers and never have received a single response back from the "customer". Facebook advertising works the same way. Many scammers out there. My business keeps growing just with my Google free business listing. Stick with Google.
They are super unhelpful and totally scam you into spending money! I will never pay for this again. So nice when trying to sell their service to you and utter garbage when you need their help
No value received, super high cost. Wish I had a rewind feature to undo this decision. And of course there is no recourse. I think it's a rip off. Maybe it's good for some businesses but not mine.
It is a company still in business is surprising. I personally never used yalp. I rather use google reviews. They usually keep you as hostage. Call you many times a day to drive you crazy.
Yelp reached out to me and stated they were giving $300.00 of free advertising. This is not the case. They sent me to collections for $485.08. I have called numerous times and called when the bill initially happened. The representatives are not pleasant. I was hung up on twice and they were very disrespectful. They stated they attempted to reach me numerous times which they did not nor was my situation handled when I originally called in. This is really messed up. Business owners beware.
If you get a call from a Yelp representative hang up and block their number immediately or you will be sorry. They will take your credit card number and continue to charge it if you dispute it you will lose due to them knowing how to manipulate the credit card dispute system. I lost thousands due to them because they tricked me into giving them my credit card information. Once they have your information they will not stop until the card maxes out. They are relentless and have no soul. They will continue to call you even when you tell them to stop calling you after you're no longer interested. You will be sorry if you deal with Yelp they are major scam artist.
Their salespersons were terrible and pushy. I received their call and the lady, Taylor Bronsink tried hard to convince me to purchase their ad services by walking me through some articles online. She said I could get CAD150 credit to try it out and the offer was limited. I set the monthly budget for CAD 300. And eventually, three weeks later, I was asked to pay for nearly USD 400 for the ad which only generated 8 clicks to my website. I was shocked. Aside the $300 advertising fee, there were some fixed costs, like removing competitors' ads and business highlights which I didn't sign up for. I have tried to contact them and they just said it's all my fault.
This was the worst that I have ever had. The guy that called me said that the ad would be a trial and that after 2 weeks it would stop unless I decided to keep it. I NEVER got any responses from the ad and was billed $485. If they call hang up the phone!
If you are a business owner and are thinking of advertising on Yelp, stay miles away from it. I have stopped my ad campaign several times, yet every month I have been charged $ 300 or $ 150 on our company card. I am FURIOUS and fed up with them. They make difficult for you to find where to stop the campaign. I feel ripped off, deceived and worst of all; our money was wasted--just down the drain. A nightmare dealing with such a deceptive company. The outcome is just awful, expensive and they generate no business leads at all. As long as I live, I will spread with family, friends and the social media the kind of business practice they have. If you don't believe me, take their bait.
The worst part about running my business is dealing with Yelp.
- Let's start with the good:
It's a necessary evil for local SEO and reviews from clients. It does help your local pages rank better if that's part of your marketing strategy.
- The bad:
I've had yelp business accounts for years and have gotten less than 0.5% of my clients from Yelp (without paying for their overpriced advertising) - whereas my organic Google and Google maps listings bring in 60% of my clients and Facebook and Instagram brings in around 30% of my clients FOR FREE!
They endlessly call and email you to hassle you to buy their advertising... If you have multiple locations this problem is magnified so much worse... I've asked to be placed on do-not call lists yet I still get some calls from them.
I have issues that the sales team says is "no problem to resolve" yet nothing gets resolved. Clearly, they don't care about serving their customers, they just want to make the sale.
Claiming and managing different locations is such a hassle. I don't understand why they don't have a better backend for business owners on mobile. It feels disorganized to me.
They charge for so many services that Google My Business gives you for free.
They place businesses and business reviews similar to yours ON YOUR PAGE and then expect you to pay to remove them...
This is the absolute worst business directory I've ever dealt with. It's just a constant headache with them.
I am sad to see the number of people scammed by Yelp. I was told I had $300 in free ads. Every time I looked at my account on their app, it said I still had some available. They charged my bank account over $443.
Yelp for Business sales reps are shady. I signed up for an experimental one week trial at $10 max per day. Ended up cancelling the campaign after 5 days and paid $212 for absolutely nothing. No lead, no calls, no reviews. But Yelp will claim so many thousands of people have viewed your yelp site. Do not waste your money.
I got scammed buy a guy said it give me $900 voucher, BUT NEVER SAID THAT ONLY APPLY $150 PER MONTH, SO you still run added like $18+ per day add up $560 per month, but 1st month but charge to my credit card $560 and never apply $150 in voucher. Such a Scammer
I consider myself to be a very empathic, honest person. I opened this app in order to receive an extra source of clients for my business. What I received is $278.00 less and a TON of disappointment. My sales rep seemed very nice and attentive, but in reality he was making it seem like nothing was going to be charged and I only had a bonus. If I surpassed this bonus then the remaining amount was going to be charged. All LIES! Basically the girl I communicated with later from the customer service ADMITTED i was tricked. SHADY SHADY SHADY! STAY AWAY
Answer: Good luck with that. You'll end up paying more for a lawyer than you'll ever save disputing the charges and they count on that. I got scammed hard by them. Just pay them off and chalk it up to a lesson learned. They always win. They lie to you. They lie to the debt collector and they're rich - so they can hold out longer than you can. Pay them off and walk away - poorer but wiser.
Answer: Block your credit card from this company and dispute any charges because you won't be able to contact anyone and request cancellation unless they call you. Even when they do call you and you cancel like I did, they will still keep charging you. They are a completely fraudulent company.
