For any small business considering using yelp, do your research. They promise a promotional credit for free advertising to test out their service and I wouldn't be charged. But they need to take credit card and have it on file. Less than a month in, I'm charged $400 for advertising service that I didn't authorize. To top it off, after escalation to their service manager who was rude and not helpful, they won't reverse the charges and will just hang up.

Racists
October 9, 2020

They are a bunch of racists, trying to shift focus to others after they were found out to be racists/sexists. The feature to report a racist business only came after they themselves were found out to be racists.

I was contacted by Jocelyne Yanez Account Executive, Yelp Inc. | P: *******679 who said she could give me $900 in credits for advertising and I would not get charged until the credit were exhausted. One month in and I'm charged $310.00. This is the biggest scam call I have ever received. I am demanding a refund.

Salesman called. Try biz. Yelp. Free $300 in ads. Pay per click. Quite anytime. What can you lose?
No email acknowledgement after signing up.
Not much action. 29 ad clicks. Watched pay-per-click until it was around $300 (actually $381.19). Cost of adventure should be $81.19. Canceled. No bill.
Credit card received with $449.66 for biz. Yelp. Mistake? No. $300 free ads = $51 discount. Untold "enhancement" and "highlight" charges. Called Yelp. I misunderstood! No satisfaction.
Let the buyer beware.

Terrible Service
October 2, 2020

I wish I could give Yelp a review on Yelp so more people can know how terrible this service is. They basically snuck me into a $200 charge when they told me I would receive a free $300 credit to try their advertising service. I received like $30 from the available money from the credit before my bank account was charged $200. Now, I am trying to get my money refunded and I'm being passed around this ridiculous voice operating system and I was basically hung up on by a customer support member. I don't even write review but I want it to be known that I will never use Yelp for Business Owners again, please don't let them steal your money.

I tried reaching out to the Rep that helped set up the ads, and he completely ghosted me. I brought to their attention that I wasn't informed the extent of what I would be charged and was told to file a dispute. All they said was oh well. I provided screen shots of what my understanding of obligation should of been and they took me for $570. What a crock, business owners beware. Get a confirmation email of what they are signing you up for because Yelp will rob you blind. You can't delete a card once on file without adding a new card. Such bull$#*!, thanks for nothing Yelp.

Yelp ads
October 1, 2020

Yelp ads campaign was sold to me in a way that was deceitful. I got manipulated and taken advantage of. I DO NOT recommend yelp for any business owners to run ads with them. When I signed up with Yelp I was hopeful but they turned out to be BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. The way they communicate their promotion is unethical, deceitful and is a Fraudulent. I did not find out that I got scammed until they already collected payment from my credit card and when I contacted them. They would not give my money back and advised me the only solution was to cancel ad campaign, which I did.

Hello, my name is Brian. I own an ice cream truck business and I had contacted yelp for their service. This whole fiasco started when I decided to personally add details about my business onto yelp and then A representative had called me, I ignored their calls at first but they kept harassing me and basically, peer pressuring me. I accepted their package.

A month later and I'm being charge for $377 for nothing Of service, i have only gotten 4 visits to my page.

I had also called customer service for assistance to message to ration but I was on hold for over an hour and a half, I had also been disconnected two Times. These people don't give a damn about the client except to extort and charge money When the time comes.

Where is my moneys worth?
Nothing but a bunch of crooks that need to burn in hell along with the telemarketers.
If you want to through your money away, give it to the homeless, EVERYONE will be better off

Jordyn Block Called me on the 28th of July, sold me one thing and yelp charged me something else. I am completely shocked at how a company with so much notoriety could be so blatantly deceiving. She told me she was going to call me back, never did. I sent two email complaints and was never contacted only charged more later.

In total, I paid $258.80 for 10 days of service! That's after receiving a "$150 credit" that was never applied.

I've utilized Yelp in the past for a couple years and used to get legitimate customers from this platform, however they have now charges more to "enhance" your business and I have literally not had one call or email come in for this platform. All I have ever received are solicitor calls. They have not credited me $1 for these solicitor calls. When I recently signed up, the very same day a Yelp employee called me and encouraged me to add more $$ per click stating I would receive more calls. I increased it by $1 or $2 dollars and didn't get 1 call. DO NOT UTILIZE YELP TO PROMOTE YOUR BUSINESS. THEY ARE A SCAM!

I spent an hour on the phone with a salesperson after receiving an e-mail offering a $300 free ad credit.
I was interested in the offer and made sure to clarify several times in person on the phone that there would be no fees. I was reassured that I would not pay, unless I wished to keep the ad service after the credit was used.

TWO DAYS in, I accumulated a $74.00 bill. I immediately ceased the advertising account and inquired about the fee. I was referred to the small print that was sent in a gigantic document AFTER signing up for the service. (note, I did not sign a contract or agree to this bull$#*!).

Super shady. Super misleading. Absolute scam.

Not to mention that had I not caught the accumulating bill, I would have owed over $1000 at month end for $#*! advertising service.

JUST DON'T.

Scam
September 10, 2020

Horrible, horrible company that entraps consumer. Talked with a salesperson about the possibility of joining Yelp. She encouraged me to go on a particular page to see which was the best option. I told her I would think about it and told her to call me the following Thursday. She never called and the next thing I knew they attempted to bill my "cancelled" credit card $400. They picked the wrong one this time.

In short, yelp stole my money and it sucks.

I was contacted by a representative in June. The call opened with him mentioning that people in my area were looking for businesses like mine (photography) He said that Yelp wanted to help with exposure. He walked me through how to set up an account for Ads. I was hesitant to enter my card but he said it was a formality it wouldn't charge me in fact he had a code so I could try the ads for $300 free. So I put my info in. When I connected a second small business I own on Yelp, a woman and then the same guy called back and had me sign up my second account. Below attached is the email I received after the call. Notice no reference to being charged at a later date. I didn't look for another email because I assumed that this was the only one I should be looking for. A month later I was charged $600 no email or warning. These are small businesses and I'm a recent college grad so that was pretty much everything I had in those accounts mainly for taxes. I called Yelp and submitted a review form. It took weeks and I'm am not sure if this is a coincidence but only after I tweeted about the company did I get an email saying that in good faith they would return the money for one of my businesses (the account that was charged less.) The other account was denied because the salesperson did "nothing wrong" I called today after calling a week ago and was told to email the representative. When I didn't see a reply I followed up and the answer was there is nothing they can do. They tried to frame it as if they were generous for giving any of it back. They front as if the promotion is absolutely free i have never dealt with ads online and I didnt know better *sigh* I wont be dumb ever again but be warned.

Yelp fraud
August 23, 2020

I own a roofing business that has 4.8 star rating on google with over 200 reviews. I also have many reviews on yelp, unfortunately yelp posts what reviews they want and not all of them. I received 11 5 star reviews. Yelp buried 10 of the 11 reviews. Yet
A 1 star review from 2 years ago is still at the top.
This is not fair and is hurting my business.

RIPPED ME OFF and 354 others as well. REPORT TO THE FTC AND BBB, STOP letting YELP Rip people off for hundreds and thousands of dollars. SUBMIT FTC COMPLAINT: *******357 SUBMIT BBB COMPLAINT: https://www.bbb.org/scamtracker/reportscam I was called by a representative and told he wanted to "Give me a Tour" of yelp business. He then told me to click many features and said he was giving me $300 of YELP AD "CREDIT", I ran $250 of ADS when got me 2 Clicks and NO calls, and I was billed $250 for the ADs. So much for the Yelp AD Credit huh? I reported the account manager who maliciously lead me into this mess and they "investigated him" and reviewed the 1 hour phone call of my wasted time and deception and refused to issue a refund. Thanks for the $125 clicks to my website. Stick with ANY other advertising platform.

I was solicited by Yelp for a free month trial and $300 in free credits. I was told I had to put in my credit card number to receive the free month. I made sure to cancel in the allotted time frame (in order to be sure I wouldn't be billed). I was then charged over $80 for my "free month". I apparently went over my $300 credit - even though I did not get any business from their site. I can't imagine how they stay in business (unless it's from fraudulent charges on unknowing business owner's credit cards)! THE WORST - AVOID!

DO NOT EVER USE
August 18, 2020

If I could give them a 0 I would. Long wait times and was charged 500 bucks without my knowing. I was pushed into setting up a yelp account when contacted by them. They are 100% completely useless and I highly suggest no one ever considers advertising with them. I hope their company fails.

Dishonest practices
August 13, 2020

Non responsive if you aren't paying for or cancel paid advertising. Charging for "calls" based on paid advertising when NO calls were received. Every single viable customer review in "non recommended" after canceling ad. The absolute worst way to go for any new business. Unethical and non responsive.

Its been a case of fraud with me by yelp employee, this person called me and told me that he is giving me 900 credit dollars for this add, not informed me that I will be charged for that. He said to enter the card number for verification and I will not be charged. On my first charge, I was surprised and shocked, contacted him immediately, and reported the issue that it's been charged from my card and remove it immediately. He said he will resolve the issue but he didn't do anything, I removed add from my side but again, I was charged with 136 $. I FELT THAT I WAS CHEATED FROM YELP. I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE Initially, he recorded the problem and told the issue will be resolved in a week's time, after a week I received an email from primer management. That they will not refund the money so I called customer service again BUT the person who attended the call was very rude and told that we won't be able to refund the money, the decision is final and hung up while I was talking. I want the community to be aware of yelp tactics, if someone calls you that he is giving you free credit then please don't trust them, they are just trying to extract money from you. I am still in shock that a business like a yelp can do such things with people to make money during COVID times. Really ashamed of them. There are many more customers who are being charged for the services they are not signed up for. Please read the review before doing anything with the yelp. We can also consolidate to fight against such people who are trying to extract money from innocent people. It's a straight case of extortion. Can we file a police complaint against such unethical practices by yelp?
