Their sales reps mislead business owners. I signed up with Yelp about 6 weeks ago on their "$300 Special" for business owners on a "$20 per click" basis. I have never received any actual calls or got only calls and messages I was getting was from different area code and a scam. I got manipulated and taken advantage of. I DO NOT recommend Yelp for any business owners to run ads with them. When I signed up with Yelp, I was hopeful, but they turned out to be a big disappointment. The way they communicate their promotion is unethical, deceitful, and is Fraudulent. I did not find out that I got scammed until they already collected payment from my credit card and contacted them.
They offer incentives to customers who write reviews, so you have people who go out of their way to throw a business under the bus and as a business owner Yelp does not look out four your best interest. I tried to remove my business page from their site and was unsuccessful in doing so, that site is such a scam.
Yelp is not just hard to work with they also have sellers that lie or are not specific about promotions they giving, they told me that if I start advertising with them they will give me $300 to use for a week and see if I like working with Yelp, after one week I got charged $145, so I called back and I've told them this is not what I sign up for and just $40 were used from the $300 that they gave me, they were not able to give my refund so I canceled, after a week I got a client from Yelp she needed a cleaning in the same day i I scheduled her for a cleaning service and she was so happy that left me a review but Yelp removed it!
Yelp are not just liars but also they making it impossible for new Bussines to grow!
This company should be liquidated. They have reduced productivity, wasted peoples time and done so much of nothing that several lifetimes of wasted hours are forever gone from history. If everyone that spent time dealing with this so called company spent that same time picking up litter the planet would be as clean as it was in 10,000 BC.
I noticed that the company was charging me in March still, so I decided to cancel all the products that were listed in "my products". No way to remove my card information on their platform, so I thought because I had no products to bill they wouldn't bill me--wrong. Noticed in my bank transactions Yelp decided to bill me again even when I have no products under them. I called customer service and Cody was of no help and told me to call on Monday. I told him on my dashboard it says they plan on billing me May 1st and he told me no they weren't because it didn't show up on his dashboard... but it's showing up on mine. Definitely a scam for those not paying attention to what they're being billed for, be careful!
Yelp stole $397 of my money without my knowledge. I signed up for a trial after being harassed by one of their representatives who called me everyday for weeks. I agreed only to try a temporary service, discuss if I liked the service then make a decision. This was made more than clear. I'm a notary. I haven't even made $397. I charge $2 for service. These are criminals taking hard working people's money. Please do not use Yelp for any services. Google is a much better search engine. Yelp should be Called NOPE!
I have a business with 4 real people that have done business with me. 4 five star reviews! I worked hard for those, I earned them. Yet Yelp Blocks them and does not recommend them. 1st time I contacted them no response. Sent a snail mail letter. Got a long b. S. explanation about computer filters etc. I won't use them or recommend them. NO wonder they get their butt kicked by other tech companies.
Yelp allows people who are business competitors to make up lies and post them as "reviews". They also allow provable fiction as "reviews" as well, without taking them down, even when you prove them 100% false and dishonest. Sometimes if you are lucky they will move them to a "not recommended" section, but the lies and slander are still there. Proof they care about corporate greed and not their business customers.
Sign up for yelp on the 23rd with $900 credit. Was charged over $100 on the 28, then another 58 on the 1st. What happened to the credit? Well they keep saying is for additional adds and pay per click. Total lie and their representatives do not answer emails when confronted about charges. No leads received in 8 days. Only 8 days and no clicks so how can I be charged over $150 in less than a week? I called to cancel more than 5 times, each time I was on hold for over 20 minutes, finally the 5th time, I was on hold for 5 minutes and then I get an email saying everything was cancelled but I'm still going to be charged at the end of the month. I did not had any adds running so for them to charge me is a complete scam.
Avoid YELP, craigslist is cheaper and has a better return than YELP, at least the people that calls now they want to hire immediately.
Company carged me $500 even after the $300 free credit. Guess how many leads/Clients I received... 1. Cannot reach right channels through calling and it is always you fault for everything.
In a summary, Yelp business ad manager had called me and while on the phone signed me up for my company and my fathers company for the "free ad spends". Yelp sales people hounded me for many months so I thought if it was really free trial why not give it a try. I asked the manager several times if it was truly free and he assured me several times throughout the call / sign up process that they will not charge my card! Well you can guess what happened. They charged me a month after i cancelled. I am not just saying this, but i really believe the manager and their sales peoples are knowingly misleading people to sign up. There are so many similar complaints! Something needs to be done with Yelp!
I wish I would have read this before I decided to try Yelp ads.
Signed up for the $300 promotion and monitored the progress to ensure I didn't exceed the promo amount.
The ads actually hurt me rather than helped, I ended up filling my time responding to all unqualified leads who didn't take the time to read about what I offer. It didn't bring in a single new client
When I got a surprise bill for $88, I called Yelp to inquire. The rep I spoke with was verbally abusive and when I asked to speak to his manager, he hung up on me.
I've called several times to highlight the issue and asked for a manager call back.
Two weeks later, I've spoken to a number of reps who have no customer support training and no way to get me in touch with a manager.
They will swindle you, abuse you, and then ignore you. Buyer Beware!
This company is the company is hitler Youth at its best get college kids to work for Yelp out of college and then try and destroy small businesses. It's sick and I hope they're algorithm eats them alive.
I'm not usually one to fall for scams but the representative on the phone seemed kind and offered a $300 account credit to run ads for one week.
After one week trial, he did not call me back and the advertising was not effective at all. Waste of money. I even emailed him with no follow up.
I called Yelp because I couldn't delete my credit card from their website and they informed me that I owe almost $200 for 4 phone calls in 1 week... what on earth.
Never have I ever dealt with such lack of empathy, scammy behaviour. If you've been offered something from Yelp, SAY NO and save yourself the debt and headache. Absolutely horrible experience.
As a young black small business owner who just opened her first shop with every single penny coming out of pocket and no other resources I AM PISSED that i was scammed by such a reputable company and something should be done about this. I came to this site to see if there was anyone else who had the same experience as i did and hundreds of others have. A very persuasive yelp representative also gave me a lengthy call in which i was convinced that i would receive a promotional credit of $500 to simply try out yelp business and drive traffic and that I would not be charged however weeks later a $409 charge showed up in my account with absolutely no traffic from yelp generated to my store yet they claimed 77 people clicked on my website and the few calls I received had absolutely nothing to do with my business. They are taking advantage of small business owners and it is entirely unethical. We work extremely hard for our money and to just scam people like this it's terrible. After i called to complain i was told to send in an inquiry form in which they responded nearly two weeks later notifying me that they would not refund me the money that was taken from my account.
Don't use their advertising. Sales rep will guide you to their biz page to add your card to simply show you what he can do to the page. I repeatedly asked for assurance I was not being charge anything. He said yes no until we review your account which we never did. Two months later got debuted 558 from yelp. Called asked and got assigned a Danielle person. She said they did everything right. Asked to pull audio again she said she did and that of course they were right! Told her bad practice she said don't care you can go to the BBB. Don't do business with them until now I don't even know what I paid for. This was my second attempt to try to do business with them a total waste of time and money. They have NO INTEGRITY!
I wish I could give Yelp for Business 0 stars, I honestly feel like it's such a scam. I thought that I had cancelled my ads after I was coerced by a sales rep who had set them up, and I originally went to cancel because the ads were way too expensive, and they charge PER CLICK even though 95% of the clicks lead to nothing. I checked my account this morning and saw that Yelp charged me $420. Like literally everything that I have in my account, I am a new small business owner and I'm 19, I feel so taken advantage of by this company. After charging that much you would think that I would have at least a few customers, well you'd be wrong because all I have had for the past two months are 110 ad clicks, 17 potential clients, 16 of which actually clicked my account, and only 2 of which clicked the book button. So basically I paid $420 for 2 clients, who I am not even sure actually did go on to book with me. This service is such a scam. They are charging wayyy too much for advertising, I will be cancelling my partnership and removing my account, I hope that this review will help other business owners to never trust this service. After calling about this, they were able to refund me, but only 50%. Needless to say, I am very upset and angry.
This is such a bad company. The customer service reps that call only tell you what they want so you agree to things. They do NOT give out proper information. They 100% will charge you even when they say they won't. Do not get involved with them.
An advertising manager reached out to me after I signed up my business to welcome me and help me set up my "free" $300 worth of ads. He reassured me I would not ne charged after the 300 was used. I noticed a charge for $489 on my card. They got me. Just like they got everyone else. Dont do it. How they get away with it is beyond me..
What a joke! They promised me so many things and delivered on none of them. I'm still waiting for the $400 they took from me to be returned. They said a credit card would only be needed to get the free advertising and they would call and cancel before my advertising budget was used. Well to my surprise (sarcasm) I was never called and my card was charged $400. Now if Yelp did anything to deserve the $400 I would have been happy to hand it over. Instead I listened to their made up stories about the numerous people who used Yelp to find and call my shop. Lies, lies and more lies!
Answer: Good luck with that. You'll end up paying more for a lawyer than you'll ever save disputing the charges and they count on that. I got scammed hard by them. Just pay them off and chalk it up to a lesson learned. They always win. They lie to you. They lie to the debt collector and they're rich - so they can hold out longer than you can. Pay them off and walk away - poorer but wiser.
Answer: Block your credit card from this company and dispute any charges because you won't be able to contact anyone and request cancellation unless they call you. Even when they do call you and you cancel like I did, they will still keep charging you. They are a completely fraudulent company.
