I bid on a camera and was not the winner of the auction but decided to use the buy it now offer and pay retail for it anyway. After wasting $150 on bids the buy it now price was better than I would get anywhere else.
After 2 weeks and no camera I went to their resolution center and was told that the camer had been oversold and that they didnt know when their next shipment would arive. After a few more days I put a hold on the pay pal funds and asked for an upgrade to another camera that was still available. I was told they would gladly do that and it would be shipped out right away with a tracking number to follow as soon as it was available.

Another 4 days and still no camera and no tracking number either.
SCAM all the way.

I stumbled across this web site "BigDeal.com" while looking for a Sony camera, and low and behold there are three of them up for bid. This is a $1,200.00+ camera and the bids are at less than $5.00 with one sitting at $0.60. I decided that I would investigate the site a bit further, and reviewed their previous winners section. I have always been a bit of a skeptic, but seeing winning bids at up to 97% savings, including the camera that caught my eye and was now active in three seperate ongoing auctions, having just been won at auction for about 25% of the retail price. My first reaction was "sign me up", but my skeptics' inner voice whispered " HEY KNUCKLEHEAD - IF IT SOUNDS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT'S NOT TRUE soooo... DON'T BE AN IDIOT! So I did a little more digging, and came across this review site which has led me to believe, once again, that I am best served looking through a skeptical eye than a blinded eye. I've read a bunch of the reviews, and even the 'favorable few', after writing about how you have to know the game, made it sound skeetchie at best. I would not be surprised if the 'favorable few' are the decendants of those that wore the shiney suits in bygone days. While plying their "Bussiness Plan" trades in pool halls, back alleys, & Used car lots.

I have only had one experience with this website and I thought it was going to be a horrible one. I did not understand the way this site works as compared to EBay and when I joined and saw 50 bids at. 75 ea. Charged to my bank acct., I was very upset. I sent email immediately following the blunder, asking for a refund, explaining my misunderstanding of how this site works. I received a reply within 24 hrs. Informing me that my refund had been issued minus. 75. I cannot say how relieved I was and appreciative of not losing $37.50. After all the negative feedback I had read, I expected the worst. Say what you will about the site, but I love it and stand by it. For those of you who think the site is a scam well my only response is, you're not educated. Whenever you spend your money you are always taking a risk. But if you gather as much information as you are able to, you can reduce your risk. You claim that this site is a scam. You say that you spend money and you reap none of the benefits. This is site and others like it are no different than the stock market. Do you just go eeny meeny miny mo and invest your money in any stock. Or do you take the time and educate yourself?

I've read so many other reviews that I'm just to the point where I laugh when someone calls this site a scam. If you think this site is a scam, you're stupid. Here is why... YOUR TAKING AN EDUCATED RISK WHEN YOU DECIDE TO BID. The part many people have trouble with is the whole EDUCATED part of the educated risk. Would you ever jump into a poker tournament without knowing how to play poker? Probably not... How is this much different? If you know how to "play the game" so to speak, you actually can win stuff and you won't have to tell the entire world that you got scammed because you're a moron. You can win stuff for a great price on this site. I personally always reach my maximum amount of wins per month (10) before the month is even up. I haven't won every item I've bid on, but since I actually RESEARCHED BEFORE I BID (I KNOW?!?! What a strange concept?!?!), I knew how to take the site's setup and work with it. I probably win about 75% of auctions I enter, and the rest of them I use the "Buy it Now" feature. If you are going to bid on an item, be prepared to pay retail for it. It's funny how that works... If your prepared to pay retail, you can only be pleasantly surprised at best (if you win a good deal), and just content at worst (if you don't win). However, if you go into an auction thinking your going to snag a $500 item for a few quarters, you will most likely be extremely pissed when you start to see how your overconfidence has cost you money. "But that couldn't possibly be my own fault, could it? NO! This site must be a scam!"... Come on now people... they don't even have hidden fees on this site. Everything is right in front of you! If you can't figure out how numbers work, you can't blame the site. I will admit, you can end up spending a lot of money on this site. But if you know how to turn that money into merchandise, especially merchandise at a huge discount, how is this a scam? Overall I guess I am just saying that people should quit calling this site a scam. If you have ever bid on any other "penny" auction online, you have taken a bigger risk. This is by far one of the safest and fairest penny auctions out there...

1. I am left with the impression that BigDeal.com is running a "Con" (Swindle).

2. "The Mark" is any bidder that can be pulled it bidding.

3. BigDeal.com people (whether employees, contracted independent contractors, contracted consultants, contracted techs', or whatever):
A. BigDeal.com people put in some bids early to exhibit interest and give appearance of activity.
B. BigDeal.com people keep it from the '30-Second Red Clock Time Period' by bidding to keep adding 30-seconds in the Black Time Period until multiple "The Mark" starts bidding. Thus, keeping it in play until have bidders arrive.
C. BigDeal.com people trade off the lead bidder to give an impression of giving up and giving hope to "The Mark".
D. BigDeal.com people win the bid if price cannot be driven up by bidders. Probably have a specific percentage designated that allows a sale to a non-associate of BigDeal.com.
I. I suspect, BigDeal.com simply then recycles the product back into the Auction at a later time. No loss but picked up some from bidders.
E. It would be possible to trace the "BigDeal.com people" within their system but easily disguised to the general public by simply changing names at times.
F. I suspect that BigDeal.com people may even be able to see "The Mark" Bids Left to know thresholds to win or drive up more purchases of Bids.

4. Of course, there is always the 'excuse' response available that BigDeal.com used when 'funny business' happens as they noted "The auction for the Amazon Kindle DX you were participating in was affected by a technical issue that caused it to end prematurely."

It is not logical to have the same person bidding on the exact same item in other Auctions over and over again when they are spending large amounts in bids and not getting it (i. E., TopGun 500 Bids or $375 along with his other bids on same item in other auctions, tandyjames 608 Bids or $456, Janet Class bidding over and over again on the same item in nearly everyone of the auctions with it in the past 24-hours with losses of $39.75, $30, $42, $12 and so forth – And, many many others: Susangallow 390 Bids, GoingToRetail 407 Bids, Plato179 bidding on many like Janet Class,).

A couple of great examples of bidding the full value yet not winning the Bid (And, BigDeal.com noted: "As for the other issues you raise, please be aware that no user on our site can pay greater than retail for an item they are bidding on. Please provide me with the specific information you observed so that I may assist you in understanding how that cannot be the case. Likely BigDeal.com people: jondwright, kajaykay, cpmexpert, brab, Patriots, Time and Money, TCtheMan, Bids. Terminator, Pollockhse, TopGun, sbeard007, Hess*******, Janet Class, tandyjames, Susangallow, GoingToRetail, etc. And, hundreds of others.

It`s legalized stealing and cheating.
Before you sign up they say - you have nothing to lose, you get refund on your spent money.
After you bought bids - there is no way to get your money back. Auctions are impossible to win, you`d waste you annual income in a few days trying to win anything.
And NO, no refund, it`s a big fat lie right there on their website.
Only small portion of your "loyalty bucks" is allowed to be used as a discount on a very poor choice of a few expensive items.

I thought I was smarter than everyone else when I bought my $150.00 worth of bids. I was wrong. I'm a bigdeal idiot! Don't be scammed the way I was. All I was trying to do was win an xbox360 at a decent price. My strategy was simple wait till the last second and bid. I did this very patiently for about three hours and was outbid in the end by what I now think were BOTS! Toward the end of the bidding (when I was running out of bids) I started bidding as fast as I could (about 25 bids) and the person or BOT I was bidding against bid just as fast as me. That bidder ended up paying more for the item than it was worth! I havent read about anyone winning at a big margin on any forums about this site. When you look at the history of winning bids its very enticing, but what really happens to the average joe is you end up paying retail or more for it anyway. DONT BE SCAMMED!

As I read all of the above complaints about this site, I was screaming at my computer until I came to Camile's review. She hit the nail on the head. You have to know how to use the site to be successful. You should not bid on anything you are not willing to buy at full price. If you're not willing to pay the full price and you bid on the item, you are gambling and if you loose money that way then, shame on you. You can't jump around from one auction to another trying to win an item. You're just spreading your bid money around and it become useless unless you buy all the items you bid on. It takes a lot of patience, a little bit of luck and a good strategy to get a heavily discounted item. I think the creators of this site are brilliant! And yes, they are probably making a ton of money. It's called CAPITALISM my friends and I say, "Good for them!"

Absolutely horrible. My brother-in-law lost $500.00 the first weekend, and won two auctions that he saved very little money on. Becoming a part of bigdeal.com is the first step to wasting money on a website that uses computer generated bids to run the price of an item up so you cannot get a big deal... ever. If you are trying to save money, believe your instincts when they tell that getting 90% off a 27-inch iMac sounds too good to be true... because it simply is. You are very unlikely to save money using this site. Please stay away for your own good.

This review will be short, sweet, and honest. DO NOT WASTE YOU TIME, MONEY AND HOPE with this website. It's owners are a bunch of cyber thugs out to legally but dishonestly get your money. It's totally an internal conspiracy and not anything close to an honest bidding process. In addition, your computer equipment will be totally infected with malicious Malware and Adware, and you will face the music trying to clean up the mess.
