I too have had a bad experience with Bidmacs. The site said that you could register for free, so I decided I would do it. On the first page it asked for basic information, then on the next page it asked for credit card information(I assumed it would be used if I won a bid). The next this I know it takes me to My Account screen which state I had 250 purchased bids and 50 bonus bids. I was shocked because there was no mention of purchasing bids on the page requesting cc information. I immediately verified the charge on my cc and called customer service. I was told that since the account was just opened yet it hadn't gone through in their system and I would need to call back again for a refund(This was on Nov 18). I Called back during my lunch hour on the 22nd, waited on hold for 35 minutes and was told a request would be sent for me to be refunded and the process would take 3-10 business days. Fast forward to Dec 8th and still no refund called and spoke to another person who told me he could see the initial request and would put a rush on it. It's now been three more days and still no refund.

It's a decent idea but poorly presented and the items for auction are the same and extremely limited. Every time you bid on something it cost you 60 cents.
The customer service people were very nice and refunded my " come on" Visa charge of $ 150- the other reviewers complained about. I tried it for a week, if you have a lot of patience and time you might get some good deals on a few items, but this site is sure to fail if nothing changes, the payoff is fairly low and the effort to win an auction is very high and kind of expensive.

Not cool at all
December 2, 2010

Not cool at all. I clicked cancel and was not even going to finish registering and up popped some FREE bids. SO... I thought I would go ahead and give it a try and bought $18 worth of bids. Then came across this website and thought I better check my credit card. Sure enough, charged my account $78 for the FREE bids plus the $18 for the ones I bought. Well, I called them and it will take them 3-7 business days to reverse all the charges. I guess I will believe it when I see it but my advice is to NEVER REGISTER ON BIDMACS!

I also thought you could join for free but was duped like everyone else. I've called *******217 and have spoken with Shaunie (today), Bob, Joan and Rustin. My refund has been processed and I'm just waiting on it to show back up to my account. That's some MESS that they charge like this and was just as shocked as all of you were. Just know, they have a fraud department and will track your IP address if you say you "didn't" make the purchase.

Same thing happened to me, and I warn people about this stuff all the time! I have called numerous times as soon as I noticed the debit from my checking account, always on hold for over 30 minutes; never get ahold of anyone; emailed them 10 TIMES! Found contact info on their website that GUARANTEED you an answer within 30 minutes; still waiting for a reply 3 hours later. I cannot believe this has happened at all, much less during the holiday season when $149.99 if a lot of money! Threatened them with Attorney and BBB. We'll see what happens...

I had the exact same experience just this w/e. I think this site took advantage of people shopping around thanksgiving time. I signed up and without knowing it they had charged my acct. Didn't notice the $$ charged at first but received an email confirming a nbr of paid bids plus 50 free bids. I was also under the understanding that initial bids were free. They never responded to my email asking how the bidding worked, and this is before I c/o the $$ being "extracted"from my acct. I should have followed my first instinct to not complete signup once they asked for my credit card # right from the beginning, before any purchasing.
Stay away from them, I don't care how good a deal you could get,

Signed

I checked out the site from a pop-up. Thinking it was legit and harmless, I input my credit card info just to get my "free bids". Come to find out, bidmacs charged my credit card $149.00! Supposedly it was stated in fine print that entering my credit card information automatically charges my card and gives me 250 bids... So ofcourse I was furious! It seemed very misleading to me. Usually when I input my credit card, if it were to be charged, their would be a confirmation... right? That obviously wasn't the case. I had to go online to check my bank account to find out it was charged. I got a hold of bidmacs customer service and said they will "Send a request to corporate" to approve my refund! So the rep couldn't confirm I would get my refund. She said it can take 3-12 business days. This whole thing started Monday Nov 22nd. We'll see what happens. DO NOT TRUST THIS SITE!

I THOUGHT I WAS JOINING FOR FREE TO BE ABLE TO VIEW AUCTIONS, MY CREDIT CARD WAS CHARGED $149.99 FOR "FUTURE BIDS", AND I AM HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME DEALING WITH CHASE BANK AND BIDMACS FOR THE RETURN OF SOMETHING I DID NOT AUTHORIZE. I WAS DIRECTED TO THE SITE BY WHAT I THOUGHT WAS CHANNEL9 NEWS DENVER, NOT THE CASE, THAT IS A MISREPRESENTATION (http://www.channel9newstoday.com/). I FIND THIS TO BE FRAUD.
